1.
I don't think EA care as long as they keep on raking in the $$$$ from guillible gamers. I haven't bought any EA game since 2004, pretty proud of myself tbh.
Same here, I even give my nephews and a few select friends the stinkeye when I see a new EA product in their library.
2.
Very nice place. Love the ice tea Now in the East Midlands, UK
Why thankya! We like it too Shy's maternal family is from the UK, her Mom is over in Flitwick and one of our cousins (that Mum visits a lot) lives in Rutland.
3. Congrats, Brack! I like em both Thanks Shaddex, please pass on the thanks.
4. My apologies if this is posted somewhere else and I missed it. Really I did try to find it. It seems there is a (client) limitation on the password length we can use? I was changing my passwords tonight, and could not log into the game if my password was 21 characteres or more. I was using nothing but letters and numbers, no symbols or puncuation or that stuff. The Net-7 Account page would take the password change no problem, it was the client where the problem would manifest itself. If the password was set in the Net-7 Account page to anything more than 20 characters, Megan didn't like it, and wouldn't let me in. I also tried just using the first 20 characters of the 22 character password, but that wouldn't work. Shortening my password to 20 characters or less, in Net-7 Account section fixed that of course, I just thought I should let someone know.
5. Personally I'd rather the devs' work on more important things than poking through account/characters build lists to remove things that will be gone after upcoming playerwipes anyway. As far as complaining about "so-and-so has this build" and "such-and-such has the other build" and "I wasn't able to get them" complaints, cry me a river. I'd be willing to bet you could ask any of the people that got the build, and they would gladly build ya one. Complaining about them having it is really only hurting yourself, and everyone else that plays since it'll no longer be available for *anyone*. Way to go! The less work the devs have dicking around to "make everything fair", the more work they can put into the server. They do what they can when they can (Thank You!), and I see this as a ridiculous waste of resources. /rant off
6. Very nice job, thanks! However, I (and others) can no longer access the db through http://enbdatabase.net-7.org/index.php You can search but nothing comes up, and the sector mob search section is gone. Is this a temporary glitch, or is it being phased out?
7. I am posting for username Chalax here, he has not received either activation email from the Forums nor the Net-7 signup. Since he hasn't been able to activate his Forum account he can't post. He would prefer to use chalax at triad dot rr dot com, but if for some reason the problem is with that address then chalax at gmail dot com is his secondary choice. Edit: Thankya Cdel
8. I could definitely live with this!
9. Please correct me if I am wrong (I'm sure *someone* will), but isn't this already in effect? I could have sworn I did this recently for the 50 HU on my sentinel, and just the other day (135 HU) for my Privateer. Also I don't understand what part of "waiting on server code" do folks not understand? (If i remember correctly, Byakhee has been saying this for more than a few months now) I for one am gettin pretty tired of seeing people banging on our developers, maybe I'm just being "sensitive" but it seems especially bad on Byakhee lately, a little good natured ribbing is one thing but the vitriol I have seen has been ridiculous. I know they don't need any cheerleaders but c'mon people, they're doing this in their free time. They are doing us a favor, not the other way 'round. If you've got a problem with something at least keep the tone civil. How'd you like it if you worked yer arse off in a soup kitchen and a bunch of the folks wanted to complain about it not tasting good, while you were filling their bowl? Guess I should just stick to the game servers and quit coming to the forums, just about every time I do there's some post in this tone and it ticks me off and worries me. /Seeya in game. PS A big Thank You to those of you that can offer constructive criticism.
10. Have you run one of the configuration applications for the client? E&BConfig.exe or net7config.exe They should be in the \Earth and Beyond\EBCONFIG folder. The Net-7 one I think offers more resolution options. You didn't specify your operating system so Vista/7 advice incoming. Since my upgrade (??) to Vista from XP i run the config and the launcher in Compatibility mode (Win XP SP 2) and as admin and haven't had any problems whatsoever, except not enough time to play >:| A few family/friends that have 7 also run that way and have had no problems. If one doesn't seem to work right try the other one. If you're running XP, it should pretty much work right out of the box, so to speak. Speaking of boxes, time to go get some pizza. Post back with your results and let us know how it goes.
11. If your outgo exceeds your income. Your upkeep will be your downfall. and, seen in a restaurant where I grew up: "Our credit manager is Helen Waite. If you want credit, go to Helen Waite."
12. I like it. I'm a Progen and I could definitely mine to that. Thanks, CDel
13. Thanks you all. Mining is a lot more fun now!
14. So, have you tried running in compatibility mode? The second step in the technical faq stickied at the top of this forum deals with that. Yes it says "Crashing" but I had almost this same problem with Gimp. It would get to loading fonts then bam, everything would stop, cpu would shoot up and it would sit there and sit there, before finally loading up. Turned on compatibility mode and everything's golden. Just curious.
15. I'm going to assume here you are running in Compatibility mode for WinXP? Didn't see it mentioned anywhere in the thread.
16. Merlin said almost exactly what I have been thinking. (Psychot.. err Psychic?) Worded it much better than I would've been able to as well. Work, family, puppies, house, busy busy busy. I don't get to play near as much as I would like to anymore. I personally like to mine my way through levels. Avani likes to trade run through levels. I'm sure there's a few that like to hunt through their levels. That's one of the things about EnB, you can level however you like. No game I have played since sunset gives the players this flexibility. I'm fine with whatever is decided by the powers that be, but that spillover is a big part of what makes EnB for me. 50% is fine, 80% is better and 100% would be wondermous! Some players may be able to race to 150 but I dropped out of that race years ago. I already have a job, why would I want to come home to another? Right on, Kenu!
17. This seems to be the way it works to me too, although there was a pretty big fudge factor in the equation, when I was paying attention to it. I don't think it does.
18. Thank you thank you thank you in advance
19. The mix files also contain audio for the game if I remember right. As far as updating the client, (please don't take this the wrong way) due to copywrite laws and the importance of keeping as low a profile as the project can, the client is not able to be changed (much). There may be a new client one day though, who knows. This subject has been done to death but a lot of it was lost when the old forums were. (If there were a "beating the dead horse" icon it would be here) On a happier note, Welcome (back) to one of our favorite games!
20. This is a great idea, I wouldn't mind at all watching an ad or loading an ad page in the launcher if that's preferred by the team. This I have mixed feelings about. On one hand it would definitely bring in needed revenue. On the other hand, it would cheapen the effort (in my opinion) of players, and the game. I'm sure some of us here have tried one of the free MMO's where you can "pay to win". The reputation these games (and their staff) invariably end up with(oh the Drama!), is a consideration. As well as the fact that if you donate then receive something special that others don't get, does it not cease to be a donation and become a monetary transaction? I'm all for whatever will keep the project going though, at the very least a donation button or link in the launcher would be great.
21. Don't be upset because roses have thorns, be thankful that thorns have roses. The game is playable again after a 4+ year absence, can we just play together nicely?
22. My Sentinel may not be the fastest/stealthiest there is. She can mine pretty well, though, and honestly, that ship (and skillset) is my favorite of all of em. Hesitation is Weakness!
