1. IMO, beam damage over long distances would drop off due to scattering of the beam so I can buy into that. Damage from projectiles and missiles are based on payload impact with the target and propellant has little to due with damage dealt. Perhaps miss rate might be increased at max range instead. The result would be the same but much more realistic.
2. A recent uptick in chatter about a pending wipe may also have sent some players away.
3.
I think I'm in agreement. If anything it makes more cherry-pickers. Not to mention if you're mining near the GoBB site, one might not even bother with hulks that only have debris/wreckage slag since one doesn't want to decloak near minions for something that doesn't provide trade XP when you vendor. I'd have to check, but it may not give Explore XP for mining it, to a high level explorer, other than what you get for emptying the hulk.
I agree. Whatever the intent was it's a failure. There shouldn't be level 1 and 2 junk taking up space in high level hulks anywhere. I too find whole fields full of just this junk. Time to rethink this.
4.
to address the last two posts: what about the scout's role in a raid? Maybe we could put some more work into sniper style weapons perhaps to make them a bit more useful? Any more suggestions for raids that might involve contributions from all classes?
We all know the Scout is not the DPS king. And bringing only JS and Hull Patch to the table limits thier usefullness to a group. Currently the Sniper rifle with it's long cool down, requirement to sit still for what seems like an eternity and tiny stack size make it not worth the effort IMO. How about changing it's damage to target mobs scanners instead giving the group some relief to recuperate/heal while still attacking.
5. You can just restore it from options and remove it from blocked list. Much quicker.
6. I went to the Nif yesterday and was shocked to see large groups of Nags all tightly grouped like a school of fish that moved together in a rather small pattern. They were basically grouped by level. I tried to count the exact number but gave up after 2 dozen. This created extreme lag. I did not check the other mobs in the sector to see if they exibited the same behavior.
7. Supposedly the NPC to turn in Terran spacesuits was recently changed from Admiral Herrera in Jag city to India Van Helkin-Nevarre in the station in Margesi. She refused to take some from my TT. She instead wanted to give him a mission for a long-range weapon. I'm thinking that mission is for the TS Sniper Rifle maybe. She also refused to take some from my TS. Instead she just rambled on about the station and storyline. I did go back to Herrera to see if they had been changed back. He was gonna give Earth Corp faction as he is supposed to since the change. Can someone check on this please?
8. Not playing for the last 2 yrs was a big mistake on your part. There hasn't been a wipe during that time and there has been much improvement during this period. If you took the time to read the entire thread you would already know all this. Your suggestion sounds like you want an entire new game in place of what we have here. Consider how much work there would be for the Devs if they throw away and replace everything they have done. Do not underestimate the hard work done by those builders that do build high quality equipment. You want to keep your trade level, so you must understand building is linked to it. We all agree the grind is boring and that more mid-level content would be a great addition. We can all hope the Devs will address that once they are happy with overall game performance.
9. Please do not adopt the Progen style of minimal instructions for future Terran missions. That will only frustrate more of the playerbase. I don't expect/want to be spoonfed, but good instructions and smooth flowing missions are very important to the fun factor. We don't want players to mothball their Terran toons also. I understand the player interaction concept but don't like being forced into it to complete a mission. Depending on other races for raids and equipment builds is fine with me. Lots of players, myself included, have toons of different races for that very reason as evident by the number of multi-boxers on the EMU.
10. I also thought this would be a great beam to have. At the time the DB said it was Jen only, but didn't say warrior restricted, so I had one built for my JD. Only when I had the beam and checked the description did I learn it was warrior restricted. There was a fair amount of time involved in gathering the ores to have a couple of the comps built so you can understand the frustration that ensued. I have since given it away to another player with a JS. Even now the DB shows as Jen only but the class description doesn't clearly state Warrior Restricted. Please change the wording so others won't make the same mistake.
11. Please reread my post. I was referring to charging for equipment builds during a stress test and has nothing to do with accepting donations to keep the EMU up and running. I'm sorry if my wording has caused any confusion and was not meant to show any disrespect or lack of appreciation for the work of the EMU team.
12. I have been playing the EMU non-stop since ST1 and have endured all those P-wipes. Every wipe resulted in loss of players. While some consider starting over as a challenge, most see it as frustrating and disheartening. I have leveled 5 toons up to 150 since the last wipe but I have been unemployed for an extended period resuting in more play-time than most. It is true the game economy is not where it was in live but that's mainly due to the huge reduction in playerbase. We have lost several builders because some equate their success with credits they have accumulated and won't build for free. We are fortunate to have many builders that don't feel that way. It is still a stress test and as such any equipment will go poof. How can you justify charging big money with that in mind? I agree that end-game content has gotten lots of attention but that only involves well-staffed guilds with the required firepower. Solo players are pretty much excluded from raids. I am unguilded and haven't been on any raids since live. There is a desparate need for content catered to low to mid level players. Many times in New-player chat I have seen players asking what's next after they get their beginner skills only to learn they have nothing but grinding to look forward to until they get big and strong. I would suggest no wipe until all of the hu'd missions are finalized and working as intented then starting over will be like having new content. Lastly, to all those players that welcome a wipe because they're bored, feel free to delete your toons and replace them. I for one want to reap the benefits from all my hard work and keep my 150's thank you.
13.
no shooting old nick this year to see what he drops eh? I think last year he lasted about 10 minutes before he was taken out and we had to supersize his shields and snowball launcher. I think he should just drop a lump of coal anyway!
Give Santa huge shields and the power to one-shot naughty players. That should eliminate the Scrooge-like players that want to shoot him. Yes on sp's as gifts from the elves. Let Santa give a gift specific to the players, like in live. Forget the coal launcher idea. Coal is black and won't show up well in space anyway. How about putting Christmas trees in some or all of the stations.
14. As soon as you target a mob you can check it's damage status. If it already has damage and is engaged by another player you can deselect and stop firing. If you continue to fire at that point, it's not just an accident. As a last resort you can PM the other player and offer them the loot at least. It won't make up for the lost combat xp but will lessen the hard feelings. With so few players on at any given time, it should be easy to move on and find another area to hunt. BTW there are still some players that feel it's ok to out-damage under-powered players and ks. We can only hope those players return to Eve and it's cutthroat play style.
15. I have been playing the EMU non-stop since the start of ST1 and have endured all of the previous player wipes. Each one has resulted in players becoming frustrated at having to start the grind again and instead decide to stop playing and wait till the final release. This isn't the best way to encourage further testing of changes. I have seen many vets disappear and new players take their place. So there should always be someone to test changes. And with the upsurge in dual and tri-boxing there are new toons to do the testing while allowing players to keep main toons which they have worked on for so long.
16. The message seems to be triggered whenever any toon logs in regardless of race or location. If it is supposed to be a clue for Jens and the lvl30 HU'd bonus mission, shouldn't it only be triggered for them and only when a conversation with Fleer is initiated by a player?
17. Thank you for the birthday wish 8) Fly safe.
18.
I sometimes do this by accident. I fly in from a long distance at the same speed as my missiles, debuff and POW - only to realize someone else is attacking. Even if I break off the missiles are incoming. I will not attack if the MOB is already engaged by someone. Anyhow - good to point out kill-stealing doesnt have a place here. Lets have some respect for each other.
As long as there are different weapon types with different attack ranges, this can easily occur. The best one can do is break off your attack and hope the the original attacker does enough damage to be awarded the kill. Failing that, send a msg to that person and tell them they can have the loot. BTW, there are still players that think it is just competition and okay (might makes right). I do not subscribe to this attitude. Show some class. As far as camping goes, if you've been at a spot for an extended period, trying for a special drop, be fair at let others take a turn.
19. I am also having the same problem. I am running XP SP3 and IE.
20. I never had a miner during live so I won't comment on the differences from then to now. To be honest, I have a TS and use him to unwind from combat with my warrior types by mining for pleasure or to gather ammo ores. I get plenty of risk of death while in combat with my warrior toons. I was under the impression that pop-roids were reintroduced to discourage macro-mining. If that is indeed the case then appearance probably doesn't matter and anyone else could easily recognise and avoid them. As I see it, guardians should be able to discourage macroers. Pop-roids should spawn a guardian of a level appropriate to the ores in the field and perhaps aggro any other guardians nearby. There would need to be a timer involved which despawns that guardian and cancels aggro if the miner leaves the field. To eliminate exploiting, no large quantities of high level ores , just enough to tempt the unsuspecting macro user. If you have to satisfy a blood lust by use of risk of insta-death, how about adding an ocasional space mine to hulk fields instead but make them rare.
21.
When is the economy going to get balanced? Inevitably it will be associated with a p-wipe to see if it actually works. I ask because builders do not even charge you for services. And when I used L6 equipment I could already buy my L9 gear in advance. So a major feature of this game is still missing....
There are several factors at work here. This is still Pre-Alpha so we all know there will be wipes coming before we are ready for live. So charging big prices for equipment that will go poof is just greedy. Lack of active players. It's all about supply and demand. With so much multi-boxing now, the actual player count is down to dozens not thousands, so there is very little demand. Obsolete equipment is usually given away. Many players roll different toons to build for themselves. Guilds still build for members and there are a few kind builders that build for free w/supplied comps. BTW try that in RL if you want a good laugh. Gather up all the parts for a new Mustang, cart them over to Ford and see if they will build it for you for free. Currently the customer is hunting down and paying vendors or other players for those comps/ores so costs to builders is button push for the most part. Not the ideal model for profit margin where parts are supplied and costs marked up by builders. I applaud the builders that do build for free since they do it for the love of the game. Do remember to offer a tip and say thank you. Sadly there are players that don't
22. ^^^ Good idea and would solve the aforementioned problem. On a side note, I seem to remember from live, seeing mobs mining. I would kill them while they were tractoring the ores from the roids they were mining. The ores would be left floating and I could then tractor them. I was doing this with a JD. Does anyone else remember this? This would also be an option to obtain the required ores for non-miner types.
23. I have looted half-eaten Alien space suits (very rare) and have been wondering what to do with those .
24. IIRC, builders had to register their build list on the old DB's. This let other players know who built what and implied that they wanted to be a builder. This is like advertising ones services without just spamming the Market chnl. Anyone that wanted to remain annonymous could. That has been taken away by the current system. I have no desire or ambition to be known as a builder but have stepped in on several occasions when none of the regular builders seem to be avaiable. I usually PM the player, that's looking for a build, just to keep it discreet. After that change, I was surprised by being PM'd with a build request moments after I logged in. I did help the player since I hadn't gotten involved in anything else yet. The player informed me that the DB listed me as a builder. I got the impression that he felt I was expected to do the build rather than it being a favor. Adding a player-selected opt-out option for build listings is like having an unlisted phone number IMO and is a great alternative.
25. First off, I take great pride in the fact that I have gotten 4 toons to lvl150 and 1 to the 140's unguilded and solo. This requires experience and tactics. I know some skills are difficult if not impossible to get without help and many get frustrated and just give up. Anything that drives players away is bad. HU's/promotions are for hard work already done by the player. Optional missions, done at the same time, to get some special equipment is fine but shouldn't be required for the HU'd. Grouping with other races is fine for mining and raiding. We all know the advantages of grouping with a miner class while protecting them with a warrior. Same goes for raiding. I have a Progen, a PT, because I wanted a reactor builder that could also fight well. All his promo's were tougher than the Terrans and Jens, IMO. I also am very glad that my TS got to 150 without the hindrance of these new Agrippa requirements. Please rethink/remove them and put the Progen genie back into his bottle.
