1. This all sounds like interesting ideas for a new game, not as an improvement to E&B. It would change combat completely. Stategies would have to change including group make-ups for raids, mob AI, and a whole bunch of coding. As far as trying to include real-life parameters to weapons in space games, we have no real-life data about dog-fighting and firing weapons from a spaceship at another target in space. At least none the government will admit to. How about we let the Devs work on getting E&B working as it was before we ask them to write a new game.
2. This problem is not limited to NP chat. The Market channel is very similar. Some of the more well-known builders (they know who they are) seem to think of Market as their own. General chat is all but dead and all the rediculous stuff (religious, political, etc) belong on OOC. When asked to move, the offenders usually respond with some comeback about channel police. How childish and rude. While I am not offended by most of the colorful language being used, it does seem to be getting out of hand again.
3. The whole point of leaving floaters is to help other players obtain equipment they may otherwise not get. Even if players post in chat what they have left and where, 10 minutes may not be enough time to get there. Make the disappear timer 30 mins. That should be enough time for players to get there and shouldn't pose a problem to raiders. Reduce the spawn rate on the known problem items and make all the Yumm-O-Booze stackable.
4. IIRC, you started with level 1 beams. You prolly only spent 1 SP to raise that skill to lvl 2. If that is the case it may not be worth the effort to regain a single SP. Just a thought.
5. Here's an opening video you wouldn't want to bypass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo8fWrW_QdM
6. I am curious. Are the drop locations confirmed from recent drops or is the info from older DB's just copied over? I have checked this new DB and seen info that makes me wonder.
7. There are lots of things that aren't exactly like "Live". Improvements are called "Progress".
8. Maybe you haven't noticed the big department signs hanging from the ceiling to help shoppers find what they'er looking for. If people had to hunt through the entire store to find the right department most would just leave. While we don't expect to be spoon-fed by the Devs, why make it so tough to find the correct vendor? Since some vendors do include their equipment level in the opening dialog it can't be that tough to do.
9. First lesson as a Terran, it's all about the money. Many if not all skills will require you to have credits to progress. Terminal jobs start at level 50. All terminal jobs require you to be within 15 levels so you need to be overall level 35 to get 50's, 60 to get 75's, etc. Take advantage of the New-Player info on the website, it will answer most of your questions like where to get the terminal jobs of various levels. Second lesson, don't be in a rush to leave your start sector. You can earn lots of credits and level up killing mobs there and selling loot. You should also loot free weapons from mobs. Low level gear will be available in the station there too. Terrans are always in demand for building and hunting so you've made a great choice of character.
10. You have to use the arrows at the bottom of the screen in Starship Creator, not the tabs at top, to select the new classes and there won't be an audio description like the original 6 for them.
11. You refering to "Martyrs Heart"? It has been droping from a Titan in VG. Not sure which one. WOLS used to drop from Belter Bing IIRC. Haven't seen one drop in awhile. Devs have moved several drops so don't be surprised if some of your old notes are worthless now.
12. How about adding a confirmation of action box with a don't ask me again option. It would have to come up with the don't ask again option deselected each time you open a trade window with vendors. Just thinking about not being a PITA while doing trade runs.
13. The biggest problem with the economy in the small player-base thus a lack of new customers. There are very few high level toons that still need equipment IMO. Stripping players of credits is a bad idea that will primarily hurt and discourage low and mid level toons. That will surely drive away more players having the oposite effect we're looking for. As far as some loot being overvalued, it's just another part of the balancing issue. The economy is not the biggest issue facing the Devs. Let them focus on game mechanics. The players will return and the economy will fix itself.
14. I hate debuffs and will always look for alternative equipment, and like many others, I skip level 5/6 and jump to lvl 7 and won't bother wasting SP's on lvl 9 devices.
15. While it would be great to get something at lvl 150, being awarded 200-300 free levels amongst 4 more toons is a bit unrealistic.
16. A quick history lesson as I remember it. In "Live", I was fortunate to have started in a guild that gave newbs a couple lvls of equipment and a chunk of credits to get started. (I have never forgotten this). In live, economy was full-blown with lots of credits changing hands. Items were even sold on E-Bay for real money then tranferred in-game between the players. ST-1, no building but we didn't care we were just happy to be playing again. One big happy family. Player wipe, some left. ST-2, building was implemented. Players had time to amass lots of credits and were so happy to be building again, most were for free. Player wipe, more left. ST-3, was like a switch was turned on and many builders started charging again as if it were live. Then the two player wipes in quick succession, more left. ST-4, some charge, most don't if you bring the comps/ores. Some get laughed out of Market Chnl for asking for high prices when someone else offers to build for free. As it stands now, many builders just left rather than work for free. Player-base is dozens not thousands. I'm sure the economy will get back to normal when the game returns to "Like Live".
17. My TE did these missions when ST4 began and they were quirky back then also. She gives both the "Missile Weapons" skill and the "Build Weapons Skill" IIRC. It seems the order in which they need to be done is confusing at best. From some of the posts here, some players had the Missile weapons skill 1st and were trying to get the build weapons skill which asks for the aforementioned ML to be anny'd. I would think the ability to use a weapon type shouldn't require being able to build it. It almost seems like the two talk trees get intertwined. I have seen players trying various things like moving the launchers around (moving to vault and back or different spots in hold) or back to station and back.
18. I'm glad this subject has been brought up again. I've asked about moving the TT mounts twice during the past year. Balancing the hard points is all I wanted to match the locations on the TS hull. IIRC their number one mount was moved so they are all under the wings and never on top of the nose.
19. We also stopped going to the Moon and transitioned to the ISS project. We are planning even more ambitious endeavors. A manned Mars landing is on the drawing board. There is only so much money in the budget afterall. The shuttle fleet has done quite well considering it's age and the risks involved as proven by the loss of two shuttles and crews. Congrats to NASA for keeping them flying for so long.
20.
The Lion line of beams, L5-L7 are in game, my TW, Toren has them printed. They're plasma, and are pretty good beams for Jenquai at those levels.
My TE also has the lvl6 ZEM and the Lion line mapped, so my JD has those, and will upgrade the Lions as soon as my JD can use lvl7. Thx for the build offer though. Many lvl7 beams carry a negative buff. What we JD's really want to see is the lvl7 ZEM and Hydra IMO.
21. The lack of certain beams from the loot tables starts much earlier than lvl9, leaving Jens with limited choices. My JD relies on PSI shield and with only 4 device slots, would prefer to get a buff from weapons instead. He's almost ready for lvl7 beams but is forced to use a lvl5 Orion because the lvl6 drops in a DEV-only sector. The lvl6 and 7 Hydra dont drop at all. Also the lvl7 ZEM doesn't drop. The other races have many more weapons choices at mid-level than Jens IMO. A little love please.

Psi Shield

As you said, you get a feel for it when fighting duplicate mobs. You can count how many hits you've taken or just watch the buff icon. It will start flashing when it's about to wear off. I don't think countdown timers are really needed. While very handy they're prolly not worth the effort needed to code IMO.
23. I spent a day looking for the level6 Orion Beam for my JD. The DB lists it as a hidden drop, which gave me some hope of finding it. I did some research and found the listed builder is a CDEV. So I now assume the hidden drop is actually in a DEV-only area. Perhaps there should be another drop designation for items that drop in Dev-only areas.
24. Speaking of Star Wars, the little kid in the Darth Vader costume in the VW commercial was great
25. You should be able to name the new toon when you log into the game and select that toon. You will love the PT. It does get shield recharge. And can build reactors.
