1. ok, here's a suggestion that I think would get at the crux of Fireribs suggestions:   Block player logins while the server is preparing to shut down.   That way, nobody would login just to see a shutdown message.
2. I'd say that New Player and Market are the most important to be kept clear of topics belonging in other channels.  As fireribs said, a new player looking for help can easily be lost along a fast moving or many partied discussion (which is ususally not related to new player topics).  The same for market, looking to sell/buy something and you have to scroll around to find that answer that flew by can be difficult.   Just remember where you are talking, and if you find yourself in a longer conversation that isn't for that channel, move it to the right one :)
3. Along what Spa said, I've heard it was the end of an age, not necessarily the world.  By some of our calendars the world 'ends' on 12/31 :)
4. Enjoyed and helped me expand my thoughts on the E&B universe:)
5. Yeah, it was meant to be an area for players to test stuff that needed testing (by more than just a few players at a time) and a place to test without messing up sunrise, but never really had enough people utilize it to make it useful.  I think there was also little communication about what needed testing etc so it was hard to get info to and from players.
6. hmm, last I heard you guys merged with another guild.
7. getting no xp probably wouldn't solve the cherrypicking. I'm assuming people cherrypick for the ores they need for comps etc. They will probably pull them if they need them, even if they don't get xp. I imagine those mining for xp will clear the roid, and clear the field if possible for max xp.
8. It may be helpful to poke on net-7, it seems pretty easy to find where a comp will be (in the manu menu) there, so you might be able to find out before you need to build it - like maybe traveling from a station to another with parts.
9. you must have missed the part where he said that the server load was not as high in ST4, so we were not aware the bugs existed. Now that we have more players, these bugs appear. Can't exactly fix what you don't know about.
10. There is also at least one mission to gain faction, but I won't reveal details.
11. Considering this thread started over 2 years ago, I'm locking it as much has changed since then.
12. Thought I'd bring this up again - always give me a laugh
13. I've also thought this, and the counter argument is that you can't find what you need from the players, so you create your own toons. Sorta like a never ending circle. Once you have toons, you don't need other players for resources.
14. So many if's and possibilities here. I certainly am interested in the idea, but there would be a whole lot of balance issues to work out, not only from class to class, but player vs mob. Additionally, hereis a post also talking about drones, although not as specific. I thought there was one (involved and specific) earlier, but can't seem to find it yet. On another note, it would be quite interesting if each race had to build a portion of the drone for it to function - IE reactor from a Jenquai, shield from Terran and weapon from Progen or something along those lines.
15. Let's keep this about heals for now, and start another thread for cloak if needed.
16. I want one. =) Anyway, sorry to see you go manypics, maybe you'd think about stopping in later. I imagine you might be less bored once the story starts progressing.
17. That is really cool, and it mentions a Dyson Sphere - I've been very interested in those since I first heard about them from ST TNG.
18. Adding Christmas Carol.. and how could I forget White Christmas?
19.
If the current system is basing part of the build % on the list of builds you have, it gives trader classes an advantage over other classes since they can get far more maps and making warrior classes worse builders taking business away from them. Just the sheer number of maps trader classes can get is nuts as they get 4-5 classes of items to build. While all other classes only get 2, just the component list alone is crazy let alone the other 3-4. So this is an imbalance that makes other classes lesser builders.
Isn't that the advantage of being a Trader class? If everyone could build everything, what would distinguish a trader from a warrior? Negotiate? Warriors ARE better at combat. Traders should be better at trading/building. Explorers, at exploring (in this case xp from mining etc). You are absolutely correct. Other classes are lesser builders... because they are not builders, they are warriors or explorers.
20. I'll add one more I just remembered, (the santa clause) but reading Kyp's post I have to bring up another movie I think of at least once a year that I watched at my Aunt's house when I was a kid. Maybe I only watched it once, but it sticks in your head: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
21. I thought I'd start a little poll so people could vote for their movie or show that they watch every year. I've put the top ones I can think of right off, but feel free to mention others.
22. One thing that may eventually be possible is to differentiate the flags of the vendor levels, while still staying 'in character.' That however is a low priority and I have heard of no success with that so far.
23. I think the assumptions made earlier are erroneous. It seems to be assumed that if you can't make 200 or nearly 200% items while leveling, you won't bother to build. I can say first hand while leveling in ST4 I constantly built items. Sure it wasn't 200%, but 150, 180 or whatever is better than the vendor 100%. THAT was my goal. Better. As it was mentioned before - you can find someone who specializes in building and pay for that 200%, build it yourself, and get what you get, or interact with other players for a better outcome - IE get player made comps or but ores to make your own comps. I for one would love to supply you with ores to increase your chance of making that item you'd like. It helps the economy and increases interaction. btw I will have to say, my first build at like level 8 (lvl1 device print provided by NPC) turned out to be 200% and I was shocked. Maybe it was a fluke, (I'll be building more soon) but I have and will continue to build for myself, and anyone who asks, even if I can't do 200%
24. And we give you our roleplaying section.
25. I like the idea, looking into it.
