1.
I destroyed PS's in live. They have no HDC. 10 seconds, they are toasted. All I need, is 10 seconds. All this stuff about powerdown and menace is silly when you cant overlap the skills and eliminate all time gaps. Besides, in PvP I am SURE there would be a chance of failure on offensive skills, just like there are on mob skills being interrupted. The only threat to a PW is another PW with an EMP missile launcher
As someone who was on a PvP server for nine years, about 95% of the encounters I had were never one on one. Keep that in mind. If there ever is PvP, players will find a way to kill PW's.
2. Interesting viewpoints by all. I suppose I'll toss my 2/100'ths of a dollar in as well. I went through all the wipes before live. I accepted it as a part of the game going gold. Getting back up to speed was not much of an issue due to so many guilds/players helping out (except on that cutthroat server, hehe). I don't have gobs of cash, maybe 200 million spread out among my characters. I never had an issue with any player in game. I'm part of a small guild (Epic) that has some very cool active members. And I'm thankful that people like Alphus, Vaden, and Magoo (and others) are more than helpful. I'm an old school gamer. Like many of you, I've done about 10 MMO's or more (Anarchy Online, Ultima, Everquest, Asheron's Call, City of Heroes, WWII on line, Silk Road, A Tale in the Desert are what I remember). To some degree most go on. (Trivia point--the original idea for WWII on line was mine and two friends. We let others take the idea and run with it. They screwed it up). One game that always kept my interest was Asheron's Call. The graphics suck. But the content, for all levels, was, and still is, insane. No matter what level you are, and whether you are solo or grouped, there was always somwething to do. Yes, this game has the benefit of 10+ years of content, but even at inception it had multilevel content. They still have a crazy-ass hardcore contingent of players, a good number of them on the PvP server, my home there for nine years. IMO, multilevel content doable for all is the key to most MMO's. A game like this, more than most, screams for it. The premise is there. The basic idea and framework is there. We had some of it back in live, and even that small amount of content is missed. As someone stated, what is there to do once you get your first hull upgrade? Maybe a few missions, then grind trade, combat, and jobs so you can do the end content. There is a gaping hole of content once you get passed lv 50-60 to the time you get your last hull upgrade. Sure, at lv 100 you can do the RD mission for 500 faction points, or the mission out of Prasad for Sai'li...but how much time does that really take? Classes that can't solo mobs past lv 25 are at the mercy of the job terminal or begging for a group. Back in live there were combat groups everywhere. Not so today. Trade nerf makes it better to just find a quick way to ferry tourists and diplomats if you don't need cash. Even with the small player base, people are fighting for jobs at certain times of the day. The lack of content is telling in VT, where it seems everyone and their mother that hits lv 60 goes there to drop satellites and trash off at Surti Alpha. Once you run out of nav points, it is the only way to get explore xp outside of a few missions, the pittence you get from combat jobs, or tours. And really, how many tours are there anymore? How many toons can we make and tour around? How many people, out of desparation, have made new alts just to tour and get explore xp for a different toon? In real estate it's all about location. In MMO's, it's all about content. I know there are only a few devs, and their time is limited. I say the hell with minor bugs and get content back into the game. Why not have level restricted mission against mobs? Heck, let's have lv 1-50 Vrix in game and kill them. PvP? Make a Pvp-only sector with a neutral base-you enter the sector, you can be killed (The old arena sucked serious balls). Plus, having a PvP-only sector makes that content totally optional. Let people work out tactics and see what the best combo is. Increase those ore fields. Have Chavez raid Net-7 and let them put out a broadcast for help. Let me buy donuts in F7--no, scratch that, mt diet will be shot... I thik everyone is doing the best they can. The Agrippa stuff is something else for the Proggies to do, and is welcomed, even if people bitch about how hard it is to be a Progen. SImilar Jennie/Terran content would be nice. Player wipe? No biggie. If it happens I'd like to see an option to keep one character, and that character keep it's engine, mounted weapons, reactor, and shield--nothing more. No maps expect the ammo you need. No vault full of goodies. That way, if you have a lv 150 you at least didn't lose it, but you don't have 1,000,000,000 credits either to pollute the economy with. I know I'm rambling on. I have tons of ideas. See you in game Zack, but not tonight, I'm busy.
3. For some reason, the file no longer exists! Do I have to do a complete reinstall?
4. When I'm in Europe this summer I'll be attending a few of the Euro 2012 games...oops, wrong football. OTOH, why send the Rams? They just plain suck. Why not send two good teams?
5. Maybe I'm missing something here, but with buffs and grouped I've had a my sig as low as -0.6. How can any JE whine about that? A well-equipped JE can barely be seen as it is by mobs. A JE should, about 99.5% of the time, always get off the first shot in combat and be able to cloak.
6.
The Armored Solar Sail is no longer an engine, its a device. The 420 warp speed you have is likely from a device (200% RR+ maybe?), and the Solar Sail is not providing any. You must have had it equipped in your engine slot before it was changed to a device. So right now you dont actually have an engine equipped.
Lol, you're probably right. Guess I'll be seeing Vaden later, once I get my slow ass JD to F7, lol.
7. I haven't played my JD in a long time, so I'd thought I'd give him some love. His engine is an armored solar sail. For some reason, his warp speed is a not-so-blazing 420. Anyone else heard of this problem?
8.
was one a CE3K MG-15? ive been looking forever to get one to analyse
If I could log in I could tell you. That part looks familiar though. If you see Vitaes on line hit me up.
9. I was mining for lv 6 and 7 ammo comps in Glenn when I came across what I believed to be a typical pop rock. I checked inside and saw it had 7 units of kronosite. Well, I just knew that wasn't coming my way, so I popped the rock and waited for the explosion and mob to come out. That's not what happened. The rock fizzed a bit and debuffed me. Inside the rock I saw a lv 27 mushroom-like critter, but it didn't attack. Well, I could target it, so I blew it away and looted a nice CE3K part I never saw before. The same thing happened the next time I tried to mine the rock, with the difference being a different CE3K part and a different debuff. The third time I tried the mine the rock, the mob came out and attacked me. I killed it and got another CE3K part (not a different one this time). Okay, I thought I hit the jackpot for CE3K parts--as the rock was still there! I hit the rock again, and lo and behold, I mined 7 units of kronosite. The rock simply broke up as a nornally mined rock would. Is this some random chance happening or something that shoiuld have never happened? Edit--I have max prospect and am OL 155
10. Get a JE to mine them for you in Io, they are in abundance (except for sand I think) in that sector. Sand can be found in ABA near one of the first navs on the Saturn side if memory serves me well. I just gathered ores for a lv 50 Agrippa mission and remember seeing loads of sand there.
11. I did the lv 50 missions where I got the chemical ammo map and the component research, which I assume will open up later content. Is there a third mission to do? I have a token left, not sure if PP's had three missions they could do.
12. Can I take one character when we go live, please???
13. Different weapons have different buffs. All the variety available allows for different styles of gameplay, and most weapon systems allow for more than one type of ammo to be fired. My only issue is that the classes that need to carry loads of ammo should have more hull space. To not give those classes (I'm thinking PW/PS in particular) an advantage in trade, simply make the extra hull space ammo only.
14.
Jobs all getting instantly snatched from the VT terminal?! The emulator ... emulates live! In live you almost had to own at the least your own macro to take jobs at VT to beat the competition otherwise you'd never get any jobs at all. I guess the only "fair" way settle this competition is to offer jobs per user instead of a pool of jobs for all users to grab from. It won't stop the macros but it'd be a step forward.
Or, simply offer more jobs or change the refresh timer.
15.
There's also the Progen Construction project, it takes refined ores. In live anyway, I can see it there at Mars, but haven't checked it. I also know on live there was a Hyperion gate being built (to Proxima Centauri?) but as the Hyperian Explorers are now in game (as is Proxima Centauri) I doubt it's still around. I also noted there was something in Antares.
This idea was very successfully done in Asheron's Call, with people seeking and donating salvaged materials of all type to help build a new town (in a moderately dangerous area). It was scaled so that you had to donate a certain amount, and there was a unique item reward, as well as a special reward of access to an area. I can see faction plus XP and a item as a reward for building a new base in a sector. (too bad faction is not fully implemented in game yet). And yes, it should take months of concerted effort by many players to get it up and running.
16. Hmm, not working anymore :-(
17. JE shield leech is only a real killer against bio mobs. A JE that takes on a lv 50+ mob solo with 100K shield AND hull is in for a loooooong kill...if he or she lives to tell about it.
18. I'm curious too to see if this idea is in the works. Heck, for $10, I'm willing to bet many people would do that for a skill point or two, especially those of us who used points in areas that can't be reset with a CF.
19.
However, Lets remember that games like this are MMO's anr by their nature social. The need to work with others is a cornerstone of much of the game. In addition the intertwining of the story lines (Agrippa in the very immature TS story) is interesting, it is part of the spice that makes the story interesting.
Every society/community has their "lone wolves," so to speak. It's simply human nature for some; not all are gregarious. Also, some people play more during off hours, or cannot commit to be online much or at certain times due to oddball work schedules. Let's not forget that in reality, we exist in the real world. These people should not be penalized for things that may be out of their direct control. (of course, if this wasn't the real world, I'd fold space to every a**hole that cuts me off on the road)
20. I upgraded engine tech by mistake but just kept playing the game, as I didn't think it would affect me. I was wrong. I could really use those points back, but I understand that you cannot do a call forward for base skills. Am I just stuck with my screw up? My character plan to 150 is a bit pooched now, and I'm so close to that 150 point.
21.
i was refering to the comment of just wiping the money from players accounts and not the whole account! cl66 mobs in starting area just made me lol!
Don't worry buddy, until you got cash for ammo I'd lend you a few of my wimpy Jenpie beams.
22. No reason to grind spillover xp for CL levels as a JE when you can use shield leech/fold space to wipe out bio mobs. The last few are tough (maybe damn near impossible solo) but JE's played right have skills that allow them to do well enough in solo combat. As a two-man team with a lower level PS recharging my shield, I went from CL 22 to CL 34 in a few hours of gaming just using those skills. At higher levels you can tank a few mobs and show then the way of the JE killing machine, hehe. Yes, it does work. I do it. If there is any complaint to leveling, it's grinding out explore xp. Missions (quests, if you like) that offer a REAL xp award for completion would be nice. More missions to obtain unmanufactuable items would also be nice. I understand this would not be easy, given that no one really gets paid to do this. So far, I think the devs working the game have done a pretty darn good job of getting this up and running.
23.
Something else to add as an idea... Would it be possible institute a system similar to Eve, where a builder can put what ores he wants into a market system at whatever price he is willing to pay? Thus miner 49er's could look at that whether the builder is online or not, and still get the guy his ores? Either that, or work on something along side the Net-7 DB that would have the same purpose? That way we could also track what is always in demand and look for those ores. This way also would negate any client limitations. Thanks for reading.... -Overt
This is similar to what City of Heroes did. It worked well for both the sellers and buyers.
24. Wow, I looted both petrie dishes and bottles from a hulk, just one time for each. I knew I should have kept a few of each.
25.
Even with that in mind though, I wouldn't support the addition of this kind of device. There's already enough ways to avoid grouping, why add more?
It's not that easy for JE's to get into good combat groups. I would prefer to group, but when the call goes out for a raid or the FB, it's not "4 JE's and a warrior" that the average group is looking for.
