  1. +1 I would love to take a crack at the server code on my own and see what I could break. I have some C++ experience, probably not even close to the extent that Tien has, but if I could find something useful to help out the project, I would like that opportunity.

Is there anybody from the dev team that would care to throw in a comment about all the other spawn timers and whether this is something that should be moved to the bug section or if this was an intended change and we just need to deal with it. Honestly ever since I hit about cl40 on my PP (TL has been at 50 for awhile), I will load up with about 3 extra stacks of ammo per weapon, go out for a few hours and kill some mobs until my ammo runs out, take the loot back and sell it, notice that my CL meter has moved maybe 10%, and decide to run trade runs for about an hour and a half or so and pick up the rest of my CL to get to the next level. Now with spawn timers increased, I only go hunting mobs if I need a particular loot item, or if someone wants to do some group killing, otherwise I only do trade runs to level up. Still seems a little unbalanced to me, and I'm not suggesting that trade needs to get nerfed again, it just seems like all these changes are being made to make it harder to level which is a little discouraging. Agree? Disagree?
  3. I agree with these gates being factioned but not yet. IIRC from live, killing v'rix improved your RD faction and there were v'rix everywhere. Since we are missing this large group of mobs to help RD faction (and with the respawn timers seeming to have been increased on Chavez) I think we should wait until the v'rix are back in game before we faction these gates again.
  4. I keep meaning to mention this, and it usually takes somebody else to bring it up first for me to remember what I wanted to put in the forums. In addition to what Merquise mentioned above, it seems that all of the higher level (27+) Chavez have a much longer respawn time than they used to. The 40's and 50's in Paramis, the high 30's in Rag, and the high 20's in Odin Rex used to respawn relatively quickly. I haven't put a timer on them, but it sure seems to take a really long time for these guys to come back now.

  6. That part of the video always bothered me, why would it take 3 PW's to take down a JW, unless the JW is L100+ and the PW's are all L40.
  7. The device you end up with at the end was pretty useless IIRC, it provided boosts to maneuverability and something else, but the buffs never actually worked correctly.

Well, here's the thing, you have to view the Earth as a phased opponent, wherein its an understood rule that the Earth has multiple layers which in turn requires different types of weapons and tactics to be used at each layer. My old D&D days 20+ years ago, we actually had created an Earth character where the hit points were based upon the thickness of each layer. So the crust was succeptable only to physical attacks and had 40 hit points, the Magma (being a less solid and more resiliant substance) were immune to physical attacks but weaker against magic had 2800 hit points, outer core took 3/4 damage on both physical and magic attacks and had 1300 hit points and the inner core took 1/2 damage on both physical and magic attacks and had 1200 hit points. So total the Earth had 5340 hit points. We also had arguments about how many levels thick the Earth character should be and whether or not to take into account the atmosphere as some type of shield, but this is what we ended up with.
  11. I don't know that this question has ever really been answered. Why is there just a limited number of missions that spawn at a time? IIRC from live, there used to be several pages of jobs in each terminal, you could just only take so many at a time.

Correct me if I'm wrong Kyp but I don't believe you are talking about nerfing lower level engines as much as are you talking about thrust and maneuvarability being more evident (or useful) for the higher level engines than what exists now? Or perhaps some buffs that aren't working now that will be working later? As I have stated before I never got very far in live, so I have no frame of reference as to what the capabilities of engines were at levels higher than 4 or 5, and as of right now in the emulator, don't see any need to increase my skill level in that area any higher than 5 (which is where it is at right now).
  13. I know we have some science geeks that play this game, so correct me if I'm wrong, but in zero gravity, should mass make a difference in how quickly an object moves when thrust is initiated?

It seems to be a common issue whenever there is a conversation going on in New Players that should be in Out of Context, as soon as a GM comes in and asks that the conversation be moved, there is always at least one person who wants to go on the defensive and complain that they are being "attacked". At that point, I think its time to hit the power button, go outside and get some fresh air. BTW Chuck Norris can win connect-4 in 3 moves. mt
  17. "It is the same that it was in live" is rapidly becoming a contradictory argument when it comes to the current stage of the emulator. There are several things that have been implemented in the emulator (both good and bad) that are nothing like what it was in live. So if you want the game to be exactly like live, then make it exactly like live and get rid of some of the stuff like Merlins new ore fields and Byakhee's progen missions. I however do not want the game to be exactly like live, I like some of the new directions the game has taken.

  21. I had suggested this in another post, why not put a loot timer on the hulks similar to what is on corpse's. Once you pull one thing out of the hulk, you have 2 or 3 minutes to get everything else out, or the hulk goes poof and starts the respawn timer. And if a hulk poofs with stuff still inside it, said cherry-picker does not get xp credit for mining the hulk. In fact I would like to see it so that no xp is gained from mining a hulk unless everything is taken out of it. If someone is cherry-picking they shouldn't get any EL xp.

I have always wondered about this and thinking back to live I was almost positive that if a mob was red it attacked on sight regardless where now on the emulator, there are several red mobs that don't do anything unless you shoot first. Also there are the gate turrets, which I think is something still be to be looked at down the road, there are far more red gate turrets now than there was in live (iirc in live, the only red gate turrets were the pirate gates if you had bad faction). Of course I didn't get as far in live as I am now, and there were plenty of areas I never got to in the game, and it was 7 years ago, so everything is a little fuzzy.
  23. Is there a way to adjust a roid so that once someone starts mining it, it starts a timer similar to the corpse timer on a dead mob? Like you have 2 or 3 minutes to get the rest of the ores out of the roid before it disappears and starts its respawn timer? Would need to make sure that a roid that disappears before all of the ores have been taken out don't count for the person as far as the field clear bonus goes. I've noticed a lot of people saying they get to a field and the ores that are supposed to be there aren't there and I'm thinking its probably just because the field has been cherry-picked and they are only seeing the leftovers.
