Common Abbreviation conventions?

Recommended Posts

Just thought I'd toss this ball up:

After a (more than) six year hiatus from the game... I came back in and some of the old, familiar abbreviations came back to me (which were largely unique to this game - when I went to FFXI after sunset, the phrase "WTB: Kirin's Osode pst" didn't exactly carry over in that community).

But with the effective merging of everyone who had a revived interest in EnB, and having come from any of the four servers in live (which may have had a somewhat localized jargon amongst each server)... and the introduction of the three classes that never saw Live, for me (and some others as well) there were a few slight moments of confusion (JS: the jumpstart, or the Jenquai Seeker? TE: Terran Enforcer, or Terran Explorer?) and so-on.

I propose then, a sort of a glossary. It could be useful to total newcomers to EnB as well, and could include commonly referenced sectors, abilities, specific (typically end-game) equipment and of course, standardised race/class abbreviation.

Allow me to propose these, to start:

Races/Classes

JT - Jenquai Trader (Sharim Trader)

JD - Jenquai Defender (Shinwa)

JE - Jenquai Explorer (Sha'ha'dem)

TE - Terran Enforcer (EarthCorps)

TT - Terran Trader (InfinitiCorps)

TS - Terran Scout (Hyperia Explorers)

PP - Progen Privateer (Collegia Traders)

PW - Progen Warrior (Centuriata)

PS - Progen Sentinel (Sabine Explorers)

Abilities

JS - Jumpstart

ES - Environmental Shield

Market Channel

WTB - Want To Buy

WTS - Want To Sell

WTT - Want To Trade

pst - Please Send Tell (private chat/message to the person announcing)

Locations

BBW - Blackbeard's Wake (Red Dragon Pirate "secret sector", players with Red Dragon - RD - faction can access this thru pirate gates)

FB - Fish Bowl (end game sector, accessible thru Tada-O gate in Cooper sector)

N7 - Net-7 station in Saturn sector

F7 - Friendship 7station in Glenn sector

Please feel free to add to these, or discuss!

OP = overpowered normally. I.e. "Floss is OP" :)

For classes, moving to a standard seems to be easier, ie. TW, PW, JW. Warrior/trader/explorer. These seem to be interchangeable with TE, etc.

I tend to agree with this. I usually use as follows:

TT Terran Tradesman (InfinitiCorps Traders)

TW Terran Enforcer (EarthCorps Warriors)

TE Terran Scout (Hyperia Explorers)

PW Progen Warrior (Centuriata Warriors)

PE Progen Sentinel (Sabine Explorers)

PT Progen Privateer (Collegia Traders)

JE Jenquai Explorer (Sha'ha'dem Explorers)

JW Jenquai Defender (Shinwa Warriors)

JT Jenquai Seeker (Sharim Traders)
