Roryscanlan
Hey guys, if there is one thing I don't like about ENB is some of the pix-elated graphics. I presume this was for bandwidth and game size reasons back in 2002. But now in the days of hyper drives, and super boosters. We are not restrained with these problems therefore I have set about taking away pix-elated graphics. I am not going to attempt a huge change to the graphics just some tweaks to make them more aesthetically pleasing. Any ways enough rambling here my first change Er i don't know how to make picture boxes, so I have attached images; My new Sun Followed by the Old Sun in AP and VT :] My next non pixely graphic will be PS Repulser Field I will let you guys decide if I've made something better, or a sack. Please give me some feedback. RScanlan Edited November 23, 2011 by Roryscanlan
Kyp [LDEV]
I think the reason they made the originals look that way was to give the appearance of solar heat radiating off of the surface, while your images are cleaner looking, they don't look natural for a sun, unless you're looking at it from millions (or at least hundreds of thousands) of miles away. Check this out: http://www.ccvalg.pt/astronomia/sistema_solar/sol/sol_camadas.gif http://images.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&biw=1440&bih=815&gbv=2&oq=Sol+NASA+&aq=f&aqi=&gs_upl=1679l4419l0l4914l9l9l0l1l1l0l193l1275l0.8l8l0&q=Sol%20NASA&orq=Sol+NASA+ Now admittedly, this is only Sol here in our home area, but its just an example. Here's some images of a Binary Star, which is what the VT (Valkyrie Twins) are meant to represent: http://www.universetoday.com/24203/what-is-a-binary-star/ http://images.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&biw=1440&bih=815&gbv=2&oq=Sol+NASA+&aq=f&aqi=&gs_upl=1679l4419l0l4914l9l9l0l1l1l0l193l1275l0.8l8l0&q=Sol%20NASA&orq=Sol+NASA+#hl=en&gbv=2&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=binary+star+nasa+images&oq=binary+star+nasa+images&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=49595l52763l2l52890l12l11l0l8l0l0l190l458l0.3l3l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&fp=c483d900e7153c28&biw=1440&bih=815 Aside from the not natural look, good job on cleaning up the images and making them attractive to the eye at least. The project was started in the late 90's and developed for years without more than just a handful of employees knowing. With these you can't expect much xD System requirements Microsoft Windows Intel Pentium III 128 MB or more of RAM 32 MB 3D video card 1.5 GB free HD space 1× CD drive Internet connection Computer hardware has leaped tremendously since then but if you look into games its age it looks as good or better than most of them. But the pixelation you're referring to is meant to be a realistic display of radiation. The Dev team had some of the most creative minds in the gaming industry today. This was done on purpose )
Kenu [CDEV]
Kyp has a point that the outer edge of the sun was intentional but it's still pixelated imo. if you look at some of the edges, especially on the left side, you can see a lot of jagged corners that look like triangles. Maybe if we could define these areas a bit more and make the "chromosphere" more even it would look better
Elana[IS]
Must be a per-user thing. I had my graphics tweaked so much through my vid card control panel, that there weren't any jagged areas anywhere for me, except where water intersects land in planets. (which is unavoidable)
BonerBaby
is just see pixelated graphics in the build interfaces, sometimes a icon is clear other times is blurred. i still know how to make my things and what i need but sometimes it is a little annoying. any graphic crad tricks i can use, perhaps omega drivers or something or older legacy? (am on nvidia cards mostly)
Orga1
I know 2 ways of improving the graphics visuals in this game, 1 is maxing ur detail in graphic control in game and the other is setting the filter through the enb config to Anisotropic filtering, then u get way better image. I was blown away the 1st couple of days i did this but now I'm use to it. To think I had to switch cards sense then from 8800GT to 8400GS and it still looks pretty good the lightening maybe lacking smoothness that the 8800GT provided but because it doesn't run DX10 or 11 graphics theres not much difference. tg626
I appreciate that there hasn't been an effort to up the specs on EnB. I think one of my comps is basically the same one I used in 2003 to play this game... I can't handle the new fancy one, which is going to suck when STO gets its free2play service going...
