  1. I'm only putting the poll up for a week because given the fact that this post is linked to the game launcher, you'll note that more people come to this post than you'd think. Had it only been 7 days, I might agree, but it was considerably longer. If you'll notice the first date of the post was: Posted 28 November 2010 - 03:41 PM with that in mind, your argument just went flying out the window. Besides, just because someone logs on once every other week, that doesn't mean they don't check our forums more often than that. Not that I'm saying you should vote, or shouldn't, its your right to choose which you want to do, but don't complain later if you don't vote and don't get what you want. Withholding a vote is no way to "punish" the people who were nominated, nor is it a way to champion any kind of cause. Don't feel bad though, I say this to every voter I run across in real elections who says "I don't like either candidate, I"m just not going to vote." Congratulations on doing absolutely nothing to either further your cause or prolong/fight the change you don't want. *shrug* Your call.
  2. Not sure if this would help because I've never had the desire to set up non-auto fire but you can try this: Go to Game Client Directory\Data\client\output In here you should find a "shortcut.ini" or shortcut.cfg (don't remember which off the top of my head, sorry.) Remove that file to remove all pre-built shortcuts, and you can set yourself back up as you want with weapons without using the autofire. That might help you out, if not then it simply isn't coded for using single fire only at the moment. This file is how your shortcut keys are stored.
  3. Reopened with the poll, 7 days from tonight. The participants may make any statement of intentions that they desire and we ask you all to cast your votes to the one you think would be best for the job.
  4. Of course not, they put you back together in mere seconds, what would make you think they couldn't do exactly the opposite.
  5. C Del is a member of the staff already and is therefore ineligible to participate as your advocate.
  6. Somewheres or another we have a screenshot that shows players being "sucked in" by a malfunction in that (always sparking and fritzing) Tada-O Gate after it has a major malfunction following the defeat of Zethren Ti. So This must have originally been a part of it. I assume that they probably added the pop-items later due to pressure from players because players wanted to be able to run that raid without repeating the Tada-O raid. (Course again, I wasn't round when the FB was actually implemented).
  7. I'll remember that, have a special clause coded in for Muhir that every once in a while you lose a level instead of gaining it when you fill an xp bar
  8. "The Fishbowl" is just the player name for "Unknown Galaxy" which is inside the Tada-O gate. This "cheap version" you spoke up probably has to do with the things i read about the Tada-O gate pulling people in once you defeated its last boss (Zethren Ti the Dark One). Course, that's only a guess. Tada-O gate encounter existed previous to the Fishbowl itself, and many people playing when I did joked about the Ten-Gu coming from a giant fishbowl in another galaxy. I suspect that's how the name Fishbowl got started, but don't know. Cooper is the sector containing the Tada-O Gate. The only gate the Unknown Galaxy contains is one that takes you BACK through the Tada-O gate and out into Cooper. Cooper is the connecting sector.
  9. Cooper and what is currently known as "The Fishbowl" or "Beyond Tada-O Gate" or whatever it is. I don't know this one because while I was still playing, you could only do the Tada-O gate and a couple of others, the fishbowl hadn't happened yet. If you're suggesting "Unknown Galaxy" that should be what appears on the Loading/Galaxy Map screen, I think.
  10. Looks to be up and functional right now.
  11. The server is now loading back for your enjoyment, someone let me know if anything strange occurs.
  12. The server does not, the login server does. The login server is a separate program from the gamestate. The game will restart the login server if it hasn't communicated within a certain number of seconds. No, I have it down for announced maintenance. It'll be back as soon as I can get it back.
  13. This is probably going to end up resulting in a flame when/if this person comes through that plays the toon, so y'know what, let's just cut it off here and say we'll investigate how this works and if so, we'll apply a decay timer to prevent it from being possible rather than load the system down with timers for every roid.
  14. Two things I'll note, it seems to me when I hear people from teh UK or AU sing, they always seem to sound more like us here in the US... and the other, I could prolly see some use for that kind of voice for Bogerils
  15. We will be raising it when you all bring friends along to play and we get to 500 on a regular basis. The cap is five hundred because we're averaging in the 170-300 range most days.
  16. Yes, for the most part I agree, but in cases like I mention where you saw group cloaked people lootgrabbing during live, this is obvious, there were times that there could be up to 30 different folks at one of those raids, it could take longer than the timer. I think Tienbau has put forth the best solution, extending timers for rare items solves the problem without the statement needing to be in the Code of Conduct. The timer is the mechanic, and it's there because people sometimes pass on loot, rather than have the corpse remain, if you're not going to take it, it should be available to someone else. Waste not that which you want not, you know, even if it is "yours".
  17. When we're done with it, it won't be, of that I can assure you.
  18. Obviously this is an instance where the rule wasn't worded for every loophole, if the loot timer has expired, the loot is fair game. If you're fighting too hard and too fast, it's time to move off the spawn and pull the mobs to you rather than camping on top of the spawn point. There's a reason for the JD Summon skill, after all. When I wrote the rules and regulations, here are the things I had in mind in terms of "ninja" or "poach" looting: (courtesy of the definition of ninja looting off Wikipedia) Looting specific items off enemies that the player's own party defeated before the party has formally decided who should do so, or in direct contradiction to a decision that someone else should loot. Consistently looting all defeated enemies at the earliest possible moment, thus precluding any other party member from receiving any treasure, even when nothing special is to be had. (This is also known as "loot whoring".) Looting items that the player cannot use for the sole purpose of selling it. Sometimes this may be discovered after the fact if that same item (through an in-game trade system, such as the Auction House in World of Warcraft) is later found to be for sale by the player who lied about needing it. This may also occur by misuse of the in-game loot distribution system, by misleading or confusing loot rules, or simply by a lack of established loot rules. Taking advantage of these last two situations is often thought of as a mild offense and may be overlooked as carelessness or poor planning. Whereas sitting around scavenging loot that was left behind until the timer expired should not be an offense. I suppose it's time for a mild amendment to the rules to clarify that point. What this was meant to prevent is someone sitting cloaked and hijacking rare loot while a raid or larger group is still rolling for rights, such as happened in the live game fairly frequently. I watched many a Smiter's Fury and Heart of the Dark One get snatched off the Tada-O raid when I played. Whether it be by someone running through the area, or someone under the guise of a group cloak sitting next to the mobs. In short, if you're letting the timer expire, then the player taking "your" loot is not doing so illegally because they are neither exploiting a bug to do so, nor are they somehow subverting your control, the period where the loot is "yours" has expired by right and anyone is then entitled to the loot box because you didn't claim it. You have a specified time period to loot, and you should do so, even if it's hot and heavy. Looting does not interrupt you long enough for the dps difference to matter unless you find the rare corpse that has a shipload of loot. It is unrealistic to claim otherwise, even in a boss fight.
  19. Well Byak, what I meant was that when a mob uses it on a player it's lasting forever, and when the opposite occurs player -> mob it's wearing quickly and/or proving nearly impossible to stick/proc.
  20. The fishbowl should not be soloable and you shouldn't expect for it to be, that is absurd, though we do plan on looking at Grav Link, I've heard it does last a longer time than it should and is almost worthless the other way around when used on a mob.
  21. It's not a GMs place to step in and defend you from personal attacks and impuned honor UNLESS the players doing it were violating rules set forth in the Rules of Conduct. To clarify even further with the above about the escalation paths, Blacklung is the head of the GM department, and if you still feel it is not resolved you can request a hearing of a case by the Board of Directors (who are for all intents and purposes, the head of the project as a whole), but keep in mind they can also decline such requests, almost like the supreme court. You would probably have to make an exceptional case to warrant that unless we just happened to be having a meeting and were able to hear the issue..
  22. all, re-run our launcher as admin, and click Launcher > Reset Updates; Launcher > Check for Update, this should prompt it to download everything and repatch it all.
  23. This would indicate that some of the files haven't been modified that require such, are you running LaunchNet7.exe as an administrator on your computer? This is a necessity if you're on Windows Vista or Seven. Also, let's start with some basic stats if this isn't the problem, tell me about your PC.
  24. As it stands at this time, the results are as follows: Posted Intrest CptGemini 4 Lannister 9 Havilandtuff 1 Tradermagoo 10 Redbeard 1 Winxp1 1 (Needs a Supporter, self nominated) --- Nonimated Pax 1 Buzzstpoint 1 Greensleeves 1 Wizaster 1 Iceminer 3 Chain 1 Terrell 1 Fuzdom 1 Toreava 1 (declined his nomination, withdrawn) Vaden 10 (declined his nomination, withdrawn) --- Eligible Individuals per the rules: Lannister (still needs to speak with us on TS) Tradermagoo (has already spoken with us) Once we've spoken to Lannister we will hold the actual vote for 1st term advocate.
  25. Those people would be ineligible in the first place as they would be staff (in regards to dev commands), no player has direct access to a dev command as they are restricted by account type. The person elected will be having access to devs, as that is sort of the point. Temporarily closing the post while I tally everything up from David's last tally post forward.
