  1.   Thanks, I'd forgotten who brought it up, best idea I've heard on the matter of credit sinks.  So far it's the best idea in that it's not unbalancing, gets players to spend credits, and doesn't hurt lower level players.  In addition it may even reduce some camping, since if you can repair an item you already have, no point in camping it for that 125% quality of the same item.   Some of the future missions, in aggregate, will take some credits out of the economy at least for explorers, such as the MCP, Heal the Shear, and Lyle MacDonald's missions.  It's small amounts of credits, mostly at the refine terminal, but small things add up.  It may be the better idea to have more missions that take small amounts of credits out rather than fewer that take large amounts of credits out.  The rewards can then be smaller and are less likely to unbalance the game.  Some of those already exist, expansion over time, may be a good idea.
  2. Lack of use for credits for the most part, for high level players.  Quality repair would be an example for higher level players.  Lower level players would have little, if any, use for quality repair.  Lower level players would just use the equipment that's been dinged until they get their next equipment upgrade.  I don't think that earning credits should be any more difficult than it already is.  There are good places in game for credit farming, and I think those should stay, but there needs to be more things to spend those credits on than there currently are, in my opinion.  I think this applies to characters that are L150+.  Players that are L140+ and have CL50 can start getting their top level equipment at that point, depending on how they spent their skill points, but once they've gotten their "basic" endgame equipment, they'll mostly barter for the better things.  Even getting said "basic" equipment it's a matter of gathering the resources to make said items, and bringing them to a builder, as the norm seems to be supply your own parts/ores, and find a builder.
  3. Given this thread I thought it might be a good idea for the players to come up with ideas that get players, especially high end ones, to spend their credits.  An existing one is the build quality grind for those characters a player intends to build with, it's a one time thing for each building character, after which it's no longer a credit sink.  I don't think it's a good idea to make the building players repeat this grind or extending it.    Quality repair has been brought up in the past as an option, and IMO, it's probably one of the best ideas I've heard, though the details may need to be worked out.  A large sum of credits (say 100M) for 1-5 percent quality, was one of the best I'd heard (cant remember which poster brought it up).  Max quality would be 125% for such items, unless it's a mission reward that's issued at a different quality.  The only non-manufacturable thing I can think of from EnB Origins that was like that was Loony's Special Gizmoblatsit which came at 200%.  Was a nice buff for explorers, long/fast tractor, scan, & signature.  Obviously this would not apply to PM items.  In nearly all cases it wouldn't make sense anyway as rebuilding the item would be the easier path.    Agrippa also has credit requirements, but other than state II with an invite that only really applies to the Progen.  It's an idea, however, to base other such missions on.  Such missions would have to have rewards worth the time & credits spent, but it's a possibility on which to extract credits out of the players.  The hardest thing would be figuring out the rewards so that it's worthwhile for the players to do them, but not such that the rewards are too powerful for game balance.
  4.   How long since you last played?  If it's been more than a couple of years then it may have been because of the player wipe that occurred back then between beta & live.  Can't remember exactly when the change occurred though.
  5. That's a good idea, especially if it rewards explore XP.  Explore XP is the least available form of XP for traders & warriors, yet everyone needs to keep it from falling behind the other 2 types of XP.  Please put (or link to) this in one of the chalkboard (dry erase board) threads in the Player Advocate forum, so Alurra can bring it to the devs' attention.
  6. I'm more of a fan of the lotto method for the rewards.  In such a system the people who are new to the raids, but participate, have a shot at a drop more quickly.  I'm reminded of Serinna's public fishbowls in the closing months of EnB Origins on Andromeda.  Being the looter for a raid is pretty awesome though, done that a couple of times, and often got 2-3 overdings doing so.  One raid I'm looking forward to, but didn't do in the original, is the one (Scooter I think) where the SS8 drops.   I do agree with the premise of needing credits for things, since right now our economy, for most items, is mostly barter.  I'm not sure this is the best way to do it, but it's a start for coming up with ideas of making credits useful.  Thanks for bringing it up.
  7. Back to normal play
  8. Some issues with my old computer. Less play for the near future, but not gone.
  9. Thanks for the adjustments to the L8 Chimaera, and whatever other devices you're giving alternate drop locations to.
  10. You have to use the Character & Starship creator to make a Terran Scout, Jenquai Seeker, or Progen Privateer.  All 3 are in game, though they do need more class specific equipment, which is under development.  You can find the instructions on how to make a Scout, Seeker, or Privateer here.
  11. Depends on the beam in question, some are more difficult to obtain than others.  In addition, when I looked at the L7 beams, the ones at or over 50DPS were either Energy or EMP.  If you're a Jenquai you can debuff plasma, regardless of your profession, but of the Jenquai only the Seeker can debuff energy, and only the Defender can debuff EMP, with readily available Player Made devices.  The Swimming Jaguar; however, has 49DPS at 200% quality, and all Jenquai can debuff it's damage type.   Say as a hypothetical situation, you have a mob that's slightly vulnerable to Energy, but takes normal damage from Plasma.  If you are a JT, then it makes sense to equip energy if you have beam with equal or better DPS than your plasma choices.  If you're a JE or JW; however, the Swimming Jaguar, and a Chimaera is a better choice, since they cannot use the Manticore to debuff Energy.  It's likely that in such a case, for the JW and JE, that they will actually get more DPS using a Swimming Jaguar & a Chimaera, than they would using an energy beam with 1 or 2 more DPS, even with the mob's vulnerability to energy, since they cannot use the Manticore. (I'm assuming that you also have L7 devices, and the mob's vulnerability to energy isn't greater than the vulnerability to plasma it would have after the Chimaera hits)
  12.   Have to agree with this.  Same for the L9 Chimaera, just give it a much lower drop rate in alternative locations.  Neither device could be considered awesome.  Some things should be raid only, like the weapons and devices considered to be awesome, with the Devastating Gaze as an example.
  13.   ^^Yeah, that.  The Prospect skill is limited to the exploration classes.  Scout, Sentinel, and JE.   To make any of the 3 classes not in the original, the Scout, Seeker, and Privateer, follow the instructions here.
  14. Was mining some sand at the Tazeron nav earlier today with one of my smaller JEs.  I noticed that it is guarded by CL33 mobs.  Is that intended, as guardians for an ore that's L1?  Some of the explorers who would be inclined to do the mission to obtain the Mazzaroth Keys would be low level.  They're the ones that can actually get XP for the mining involved, but they have no chance against CL33s.  Can those mobs be replaced by some that are a bit more appropriate to the ores at that nav?  I sent a bigger JE to handle the mobs there, and get the sand I needed.   Obligatory Screenshot.
  15. Drag the icons off of the shortcut bar and drop them.  That will get rid of them.  Another way to get rid of them, is to drag and drop something else in their place.  Any piece of equipment or any skill icon will do.
  16. The "restricted" versions of racial restrictions matter, as they also affect building, not just use.  Progen cannot build, analyze, or dismantle any item that's Progen Restricted.  Jenquai are under the same restrictions for Jenquai Restricted items.  I don't know if something that's profession restricted, rather than race restricted, would affect building.   There are pieces of equipment that are in existence that cannot be used by anyone.  The L9 Profiler is an example.  It's Terran Only, Tradesman Only.  I'm not sure, but I think that prior to launch of the original game, characters could use L9 of all 4 techs, instead of the current configuration where everyone gets 2 L9 and 2 L8 techs, varying by race & profession.  Those items simply weren't removed.  I'm not certain of that.   If at some time in the future, the devs decide to go to the everyone gets L9 of everything, though I don't see why they would, then those "Race Only" restrictions would also matter.
  17. I have an Eye of the Fang Fiend on Torrence, and find it useful.  His other 4 beams are the Ambushing Jaguar.  I don't need it on my JE or JT as they're more energy efficient.  I don't think there need to be changes to the Made to Live beam.  IIRC the devs said that the MtL beam would likely be too powerful on the JW.  I don't think that the EoFF needs to be changed, as I use it for the same reason that Alurra uses hers.  If there are to be future plasma beams with Beam Energy Conserve in the future, I might use them, but I'm okay with the EoFF as is.  If the devs were to make such a plasma beam, it should be no more powerful than beams like the Ambushing Jaguar, and have no more than 2 buffs, none of which enhance damage.  There is already an upcoming energy beam with the Energy Conserve buff, assuming it's like the original, the Sun Focus 2000.   For my JE I ultimately want to have the Gaze of Amah, Made to Live, and Ambushing Jaguar for my beams, while mining.  For dealing with ore field guardians it's more than enough for my needs, and my JT already has the requisite prints for 2 of them.  The Gaze of Amah, as far as I know, isn't in the game yet.  It's a storyline item, that's tied to the Mars Construction Project.  The 6 device slots will be filled with relatively run of the mill equipment, like a L8 Lazarus & a L7 Navigation Computer for those quick escapes. Coma & Chimaera for fighting, and probably a reduce sig buff somewhere.   The Veiled Oyoroi for the mining buffs.  For an energy setup, something different, but spectacular weapons wouldn't be needed.  Something like an SF2K, Ghosts Edge, and one other.   If there are new beams added, and similar love for the other 2 races, I think they should not rival existing equipment such as the DG or GoD.  Weapons comparable to Zets, Archos, and Pitbulls in terms of DPS, with buffs that are common to the race they're geared towards are fine in my opinion, same for other common buffs that tend to cross races.  IMO the devs made a great addition along those lines when they added the Jaguar line of beams.    Not having cookie cutter equipment is a good thing, but new rivals to the DG aren't necessary for that.
  18. Not sure if that would work, but sounds interesting.    I think that the big problem is that the market is mostly barter, w/r/t the really good items.  If you didn't get the drop yourself, and you want a Devastating Gaze (DG), you can't trade to get a looted one, via credits.  Instead you need an item of similar value to trade instead.  If you want one built, you'll need to get your hands on the parts, or at least the things needed to make the parts.  The hard part being getting the eye.  I'm not really sure how this can be fixed, or if it can.
  19.   Not sure on that.  Are you doing the initial login of your PT from the same computer you made him (her) on?  When you first create a character with the Character & Starship Creator, they're only on the PC that you created them on until you log them in to Sunrise for the first time.  After you've logged the character into Sunrise for the first time, then they're available from any PC that has the game installed.
  20.   Yes, Sunrise is the only server.   How to create any of the 3 missing classes is here.  You'll have to use the Choose Profession arrows at the bottom to access the 3 missing classes, new menu options don't appear.
  21. Thanks to those who answered.  Yes there is a place where you can turn in slag & debris.  Leeroy Junkbins in Witberg accepts them for Trade XP, and Bogeril faction.  There are other things he accepts too, like L7 Landing Struts & Leaky Power Cells.   The Bogeril turn in thing, is new to the emulator as far as I know.  In EnB Origins, as well as emulator, some Player Made Bogeril items require debris or wreckage slag, I forget which.
  22. Has Wreckage slag always had stack sizes of 100, rather than 300?  If not, is it a bug that my PE can't stack it beyond 100 in either her hold or vault, or is it a change that was intended?  Usual reason for holding it is to stock up on it before visiting the Bogeril to turn it in.
  23. Also with satellite jobs do not, under any circumstances, fire your weapons before you launch your satellites.  Firing your weapons destroys the satellites instantly, and fails your jobs.
