  1. Yeah, this applied to skills as well.   For skills there was also a No (circle with a line through it) symbol when it's use wouldn't be allowed.     In this one you can see the range indicators.  The Fold Space skill & the Chili Popper device are within range, while the Compulsory Contemplation skill, Shield Leech skill,  and the Chimaera device are out of range.     The weapon firing from my center mount is the Gaze of Amah, a reward from the Mars Construction Project.
  2. I have a couple of screenshots that support this.  Here are some from EnB Origins.   This is probably the best one in support of this.     The Star Rangers, depicted in purple, Static (bottom center) depicted in gray, 5th Tau Ceti Rangers in White and 2 other guilds in green.   Here's another screenshot.     Green seems like a common color for guilds, as well, since I see more than one with it between this and the previous screenshot.   And a guild member from EnB Origins, where I'm grouped with him (same group & guild).     Green may be the default color, I'm not sure of the circumstances that give the guilds different colors for their names.   The middle screenshot also shows that organic mobs dropped credits in EnB Origins.

This device is not usable by anyone, since the class it's restricted to doesn't get L9 devices.  Perhaps this one could either have the Terran Only restriction removed, or have the Tradesman Only be changed to Explorer only (not both though).  That way either the JT or Scout could use the device instead.         The Repair equipment buff isn't of any use on this device, since only warriors can repair equipment.  Allowing the JT to use it would make it need the fewest changes, for the buffs to make sense, allowing the Scout to use it is a bit more consistent with the device being of Terran manufacture.
  4.   Yeah, I remember on the old forums, or maybe in the early days of this one a specific thread about whether the JT should have ML or PL as her secondary weapon.  Was during ST3, and maybe early ST4.   There was also talk of what the JT's missing skills would be, before she got Reactor Optimization 7, Fold Space 5, & Build Reactor, at the cost of Psi Shield and a lowering of Negotiate from L7 to L5.    I could live with either weapon as a secondary weapon on the JT, especially since she and the JE are the only class where such a thing could be considered.  The JT being the more obvious choice on that, since she's the new class on the block.   Either way, I think we're in agreement that one of the issues for either secondary weapon is the lack of good buffs for in race equipment.  I would hope that in the long run Triad Technologies puts some in.  Perhaps some other companies that aren't really active much in the game currently.   If Kenu wants to implement the idea he mentioned in Post 11 of the thread you linked, I wouldn't have a problem with it generally speaking.  It should be followed up on, though, with supportive equipment buffs.  During ST4, there was a mention in the patch notes, that Combat Cloak's buffs would apply to all weapon types.  I don't know if that's still in effect, but if it is, then it is a good start, as it would be supported by what's likely the Jenquai's most important combat skill.    I think it's more likely that we'll get better secondary weapon support on the JE and JT if they both use the same secondary weapon, as it would likely be done with fewer items, but if there's going to be equipment support for JTs using MLs instead of PLs then fine by me.   Generally I'd like to see more secondary weapon support for all classes, but I don't expect to see that soon, since most people will level up their primary racial weapon, first.  Secondary or Tertiary weapons would generally be relegated to backup weapons, but I do suspect that if you put the right buffs on them, the support classes might give them more consideration.  (basically some good, but not uber, buffs that are most easily found on secondary weapons)
  5. You can also raise Sharim Trader faction at the job terminals.  I think it's 40 faction per completed job, regardless of the level of the job.  Since all terminals are FFA, you probably don't have to dock at a Sharim station to get jobs that improve Sharim faction.  This assumes that job terminals don't take your existing factions into account before offering jobs.   The Sharim RD thing was something that was the case in EnB Origins & initially carried over here.  Behind the scenes Shou Tzu was at the very least friends with Ariad.  In EnB Origins prior to the patch Merjan's Missing, Ariad gave missions that rewarded Sharim faction.  Hyperia & Collegia also had NPCs that rewarded reputation with their respective factions upon completion.
  6.   I think that makes sense too.  For them to even have viability as a backup weapon, there needs to be more equipment based support for them.  Right now a Jenquai running PLs has very few choices of equipment that can buff them, and having a L9 HoDO or 5th Vector reactor to use them is practically mandatory.  Lower level items as well.  Progen could get similar things for beams, if they don't have them already.  I could see some limited situations where a PE might like to use beams, such as farming for faction, or if they want a few more cargo slots while mining.   While the Slime & Ichor cannons have nice buffs, it would be nice to get those buffs on other equipment that a Jenquai can use, since there are situations where chemical ammo might not be the best choice.
  7.   Yeah, you're right, I overlooked the 2 there in my inventory, my mistake.  Thanks for answering.
  8. For the Jenquai version, how exactly are we supposed to trade one report, for 2 reports in return?  Why would any player agree to trade something for nothing?
  9. Good point Liucee.  Also in the original game the PE was the least popular class.  There could be some people who play the emulator that didn't play the original.  Not to mention, a PE might not want to put points into Beam Weapon, since their racial weapon is Projectiles.  Maybe have a L1 plasma beam that the PE can use drop in the newbie sector, not just in the hulks.
  10. For Live status.   Main JE:  Mix of mining, combat, missions, and trade jobs.   JT: mix of combat, trade runs, missions, and jobs of all types.   Other characters TBD.
  11.   You need the Character & Starship creator to make a Terran Scout, Progen Privateer, or Jenquai Seeker.  Instructions can be found here.
  12. I may misunderstand the command, but is it possible that the command only works if something has been removed from a resource node, but other things remain inside?  Resource node being a single resource that can be prospected, not the field in it's entirety.
  13. I could see the JT using MLs in the same situations I used PLs with my JE in EnB Origins.  Mostly formation fighting with longer ranged characters.  It's true that beams lose damage over range, so I could see the Jenquai using alternative weapons in those situations where you want to keep your distance, and complement them with Teleport Enemy.   Other situations where a Jenquai wants to keep her distance, especially when you combine it with low signature & a Coma device.  I think it would be less work for the developers to make some PL range boosts that a Jenquai can use that can be player made, and not intended to be ultra rare.    On my JE in EnB Origins with an 85% quality HoDO reactor I was able to get my PL range to around 7Km (using Ninja's Shuriken PLs).  The same can be done for the JT with existing equipment, though said equipment isn't commonplace.  IIRC the HoDO is no trade, so you've got to loot it yourself, either at the Tada-O gate raid or the fishbowl.   The 5th Vector, is something I've never actually seen other than in the N7 database.  I'd love to get my hands on one of those for my JE, preferably with 100% quality or better.  `125% of course would be lovely.    A new PL that Jenquai can use that's L8, with a range boost, and the ability to use the 3 damage types common to PLs would work too.   If it's loot only, though, it shouldn't be super rare.  I'd make it PM instead, which would make it more commonplace, as long as it doesn't require a part that's both non-manufacturable & loot only.   If the game is around long enough, we will get to the point where leveling secondary & tertiary weapons will be the norm.  Perhaps over time we should consider putting some rewards in doing this, starting with the support characters.   It may be less work, in terms of items, for the devs to simply support projectile use in Jenquai, than to start the JT with missiles, but I could be okay with it if GETCo will pony up some nice JT Only MLs for her to use.
  14.   In EnB Origins I did use my secondary weapon, in a few situations, on my JE.  I did level it up in ST4 as well, with overdings, but I didn't have the right equipment to really make the best of it.  I'll level up PLs in Live since I've got an AA that gives buffs to Projectile turbo & PL damage.  I've also got a 2nd AA that gives Turbo Weapons (activated).  One of the big issues, for Projectiles on a Jenquai, in addition to the ones you mention, is lack of good options for range boosts.  The HoDO & 5th Vector reactors are likely the best choices, but neither can be player made.   Screenshots from EnB Origins:
  15. There was a mention of Combat Cloak increasing the damage of the other weapon types, back in ST4.  Not sure if we can call up all the patch notes from that long ago, but I think it was in the November 2010 or 2011 range, give or take a couple of months.  (that time of year, but not certain which year).  I don't know if that was ever reverted back.   Even with that said, I don't much see any point in the JT getting Missiles over Projectiles, unless there are going to be some really nice MLs introduced into the game for her, made by GETCo.  Jenquai manufactured PLs will be better than MLs, simply because each race makes it's secondary weapon, better than it's tertiary weapon.  The best thing; however, about MLs instead of PLs as the JT's other weapon, is that it's easier to get a range buff for MLs than PLs as a Jenquai  (model X, Y, and Z shields).  As far as I know, there are no PM range extenders for Projectiles, that a Jenquai can use.  At least not any of mid to high level.   For the Scout, I would doubt that PLs would be added to the class.  Everyone starts out with beams, and since the Scout isn't part warrior it only gets one other weapon, which would be it's racial weapon, Missiles.   Edit:  The two Characters I've got to L150 are a JE & a JT.   Fighting with either works about the same.
  16. Yeah, the gate to Deneb is currently closed.  Has been for some time, not sure when in the storyline it re-opens.
  17. I'm available most days, but not always, when you decide on a time, post it in forums.  I live in FL so I would need it in Eastern time.  Unless something interferes I can bring my JE.   Might be a good idea to give a couple of days notice.
  18. Good point Phorlaug , items that complement each other, as well as redundancy are both good things, they open up the ability for players, regardless of class, to set up their ships differently.  If most members of a particular class, set up their ships the same way, that somewhat undercuts the point of having customizable ships, as far as equipment is concerned.   I do think that new items are needed over time, but I'm willing to wait some for them.  A few hints, either from the devs directly or through uban, wouldn't hurt.  A potential hint doesn't have to be too specific.  Something along the lines of:   "The JT will be getting some new equipment to help her find her place in the galaxy.  Coming soon TM"   would be welcome.
  19. Is it possible for the Glorious Kimono to be changed, without the loss of existing ones, or the need to have them rebuilt?    If so would an activated buff to skill efficiency be too powerful?  What it would do is reduce the power up time of most skills.  Cloaking would not be affected by this power up time reduction, since existing buffs do not allow it to be activated in less than 3 seconds.  Would also be a new buff, specific to the JT, which would make her more useful as a supporter.   If the skill caps are still in place, the GK shield vs. the L9 Guardian, wouldn't matter as far as the Recharge Shields skill is concerned, as both would get the JT to the skill cap.  This assumes that the JT has maxed her Recharge Shields skill.  I don't think that the GK having a lower recharge reactor buff than the Guardian, since the GK also has a reactor cap buff, that the Guardian doesn't.  In a sense the GK would be trading some of the Reactor Recharge buff for a reactor cap buff.
  20. To elaborate on my Dispel device idea.  It could work like this for the JT.  The device would run from L3-L9.  Cooldown 20 seconds, energy use comparable to activated devices of the same level.   L3-L4 buffs would be:   Dispel (Activated) Removes debuffs from affected players.   L5-L6: Dispel (Activated) Resist Psionic (equip)  (+10 at L5, +15 at L6) Equipment Damage Magnification -Weapons (equip)   L7-L8 Dispel (Activated) Resist Psionic (equip) (+20 at L7, +25 at L8)   L9 Dispel (Activated) Resist Psionic (equip)  (equal to deflect on L8 Tolerance of equal quality) Equipment Damage Magnification -Weapons (equip) Scan Boost (allows ship's scanners to see 3000 meters further.)
  21. Hmm, I do agree with the general premise of this thread, the JT's quasar device is a rather good device, but I don't think that the L7 Quasar should be improved in the sense of making the L7 version of the device better.  Instead, create a L8 or L9 version whose buff is good enough to not be overridden by the Cygnus 9.  If the devs intend to address this in this fashion.   It's also possible that the developers intend for people to manage their buff choices, and leaving the Quasar line, as is,  fosters consideration before casting buffs.   I think that the biggest problem, in terms of being a supporter, that the JT currently has is that there is very little class specific equipment for her.   Most of the devices she can use are the unrestricted devices, or devices that were in EnB Origins that she gets either because she's Jenquai, or because she's a Trader.  The Scout & Privateer suffer from the same equipment dearth.  I think that, over time, the developers will correct this by the gradual introduction of new equipment for the 3 new classes.   I do think that some of this new equipment will need new, useful, and never seen before buffs, and said buffs be divided up between the 3 new classes, with the Scout & Seeker getting more than the Privateer.   For the Seeker (and the Scout), since they're classes that lack DPS, they need to bring unique and useful things to the table, that make up for their lack of firepower.  The JE and TT, the other 2 non-DPS classes, do this fine, but have had more development than the JT, Scout, and PT, since they were in the original game.  The JE has many devices, and good support skills, that are unique to him, The TT has the combination of Shield Charging, Recharge Shields, and Hull Patch, that make the TT the complete healer.    A JT is a good friend, like a JE, to any class that struggles with reactor issues.  It's also good that the JT's reactor abilities, and the JE's don't conflict.  Some of those reactor struggles should remain, for those classes, to ensure that they need the help of JE/JT.  JT; however, as a healer would be tertiary, after the PT who has the shields & firepower to handle more aggression against him, and the TT who is also physically tougher than the JT, and has the best healing package.  (The TT should have the best healing package, as the pure Tradesman).  A while back I've proposed Dispel, preferably as a line of devices, to give the JT an unique heal (remove debuffs).    I do think that both the Scout & Seeker are in need of improvement as support characters, and the PT likely needs some too, though having DPS helps.      On the reactor optimization front, a while back Kenu mentioned the possibility of making that a L1 skill (at OL135) and giving the JT a unique skill to replace it.  I don't know if he still holds that view, but if he does, it would likely be helpful.   Making Reactor Optimization a L135 skill, with it giving the same buffs as it currently does at L7, would free up a space for a new JT skill, which if done well would shore her up as a support toon.  If they couldn't change it to a unique skill, like say Distract (from the documents on the N7 Portal)  Navigate would be nice, especially if it were L7.
  22. Not all the people who take the suits are class leaders.  JE and JW suits aren't taken by their respective class leaders, Merjan Kathrada & Du'Shao Silva.  (unless the devs have changed who the class leaders are.)
  23.   Not sure if we have the server population to do fishbowls the old way.  I'm not sure if Serinna's public fishbowls on Andromeda were indicative of what it would take for well equipped players to handle it, but in the ones she led usually had around 6 groups set up for MASH tactics.  Groups consisted of 3 guns (any combination of the warrior classes), 1 explorer for Jumpstarting, a TT & JW who were the "hospital".  Is server stability such, that we could do a fishbowl with that many players, without lag, crashes, or other issues?   Fish's mention of new future raids makes sense as well, for those who have the gear, and don't really see a point in doing the same raids over & over.  They likely would like something new to do.  I've often argued for other means to get good, but not necessarily awesome, equipment through missions, mining projects, etc.
  24. Last I tried yes he did.  Was a few weeks ago.  Could have changed since then.
  25. Yeah, I'd agree there, right now the ability to build across race benefits the PT more than the JT.  I do wonder why Progen or Jenquai are allowed to build the other's race "only" items.  The addition of the PT removed the reason that JEs were allowed to build some Progen reactors in EnB Origins, namely that no one else could build reactors at all back then.  Since it's not likely to go over well if that ability is taken away, don't be surprised if some future Progen Only reactors, that are nice, be added to balance the scales a bit on that.  It's probably the fairest solution that won't anger the player base.   PT should be a good builder, as should JT, though the master should be the TT.
