  1. IMO, the competition between groups type of thing, where they don't directly engage each other in combat, as discussed in the other threads, is probably the best way to go.
  2. I kind of like the nebula effect.  I could see how it could be annoying to some.  I'm reminded of one of the early Bora missions, in Tachyon, The Fringe, where you have to meet a crackpot who lives in a station hidden in a mined nebula.  That nebula was annoying since you really couldn't see though it and had to rely on your sensors to not hit anything.
  3. Those look nice, thanks for the work to get them in game.
  4.   Yeah, I know.  Personally I don't have a problem with Uranus having it's current name.  Said name refers to the Greek god of the sky and is consistent with how the other planets are named, except for Earth.   Since the names of planets & moons in our Solar System come from mythology, mostly Greek & Roman.  There are some exceptions such as Earth, the Moon (since most don't call her Luna, Selene, or Diana), and Uranus' moons, which are named from characters from some of Shakespeare's plays.
  5. William Herschel wanted to name it George.
  6. You may need to raise your OL a little first before Chrones Christopher will talk to you.  It's been a while since I trained a PT, so I'm not sure there.
  7.   If Scan 7 works the same way it worked in the original game, having Scan 7 and grouping shouldn't affect your scan range unless another group member has Scan 7 and a better scan range than you.  A JE or JW with better scan buffs than yours.  Not sure if having someone in group without scan 7 but better scan range than you should affect your scan range, or theirs.  Depending on what scan buffs you have, vs. what scan buffs they have it's reasonably possible for a PE or Scout to achieve this.  Explorers, including Scout & Sentinel, have a bigger starting scan range than everyone else, 5.0 vs. 3.5.
  8. I would like to see a Chavez turn in of some sort too, but I don't think that's going to happen, since the Chavez & RD are diametrically opposed, and the devs intend it to be difficult to be on good terms with both.  Wouldn't surprise me though, if later, killing V'rix ends up raising Chavez as it raises most human factions.  (a person could dedicate one character to thrashing RD, then trading the faction raising drop to his or her other characters to raise Chavez)   I do like the work on item differentiation, thanks devs for doing so.
  9. *Wonders aloud what Loony's Hunk O'Metal, Chili Popper, & Loony's Special Gizmoblatsit will look like.  In EnB Origins Hunk O'Metal looked like scrap metal, the other two looked similar to the old look for gene maps.
  10. Yeah, my JT uses hers, plenty.  Much the same way that the JW would use the device.   I hardly use Recharge Shields on my JT when playing solo at all.  I'm more likely to use it on other players, on those occasions that I'm grouped.   I have done the Recharge shields thing while using the Martyr's Heart on my JT as well, but haven't done it in a while.  Having the Glorious Kimono, L7 Quasar, and L7 Reactor Optimization gives more power to work with before I need to use my MH.  I do often wish there was a duration buff available for Reactor Optimization.  Sometimes there's downtime between fights, and I get a little reactor recharge in then too.
  11. It may have been, but most of my play is with the JE and JT who are usually pretty energy efficient, and I haven't noticed the difference.  Only those 2 characters are into overdings.  Other than my Scout & TT my other characters have been largely neglected, having only done training, and the Christmas mission.
  12.   In EnB Origins, I think the EA devs had the Martyr's Heart stop dropping and replaced with with the SEC, because they thought that the Martyr's Heart was too powerful.   They didn't strip the ones that people already had, but didn't allow them to drop anymore.
  13.   Agreed, I have one on my JE and JT, but my JW isn't leveled up yet.  My JEs sits mostly unused in his vault, since he has Shield Leech, to fill his reactor bar whenever necessary, my JT uses hers when going after things bigger than her.  Another good thing about the Martyr's Heart is that it drops from a mob whose CL is less than 50.
  14. In some ways it's like the original in other ways it's different.  The 3 classes that weren't around in the original game are here, you'll need the Character & Starship creator to make a Scout, Seeker, or Privateer.  Instructions for the new classes can be found here.   Building is a bit more difficult if you want to build things, you'll have to work up your quality on builds.  Fighting is about the same as  I remember it in the original game though currently mobs don't appear to resist debuffers.   Mining is similar, but here pop-rocks include any type of resource that can be mined (Crystal Asteroids & Gas Clouds didn't pop in the original game, they do now.  Glowing Asteroids may not have popped either, but not sure there)  Pop-rocks generally look different (discolored) from the regular resources of the same type & level (though it can be hard to tell, especially with gas clouds).  One other difference in mining between now and the original, there's a chance of successfully pulling the ore in this version of the game.  In the original pop-rocks always blew when you tried to mine them.  The explosions hit harder than in the original.  Loot tables on pop-rock mobs have been improved.   There are new sectors that weren't in the original, Paramis (Smuggler's Run), Neptune, Uranus, Pluto & Charon, Mercury, Venus, Ceres/Thule, Equatoral Earth, Mars Gamma, Ganymede (Sol),  Ishaun, Menorb, Nebiros (Castor), Margesi, Adriel Prime (Proxima Centauri), Altair III, Norstrand Vor, Norstrand Vor Planet (Altair), Moto (61 Cygni) are all new.  A few of those aren't open yet, such as Ceres/Thule, Nebiros, but will open in the future.
  15.   Those look nice, thanks for the work on them.
  16. If it's not already in game at this level, mini-bosses that are a little higher than the existing ones.  Say have a group of mobs that spawn that are in the 51-55 range, and if you kill enough of them over time, an boss spawns.  Say a named 56-58 mob that has nice drops.  The boss can drop 1-3 nice items, and some junk loot with decent credit & trade XP value.   I guess I could call it a "farming raid".  Intended for 6-9 players.  (the corpse of the boss would last a while so that looting rights can be established.  While the boss' corpse remains the other mobs don't spawn, temporarily, but do spawn 5 minutes after the corpse is either cleared or disintegrates.)   The loot would mostly be manufacturable L8 or L9 things, and the loot tables on the boss would be such that the boss would drop something useful for each class, but you'd have to kill it several times to cover everyone.  Probably more than 10-15 times since sometimes drops will repeat.  Those upcoming JT devices (the L8 L9 versions) would be examples of the type of thing that could drop there.  At least the L8 one.  Some L9 weapons that serve as alternatives to Pitbulls, Archos, and Zets, but aren't as powerful as those things that are intended to be rare like the DG.    Later in game, perhaps some secondary weapons, with nice enough buffs to make the races they're intended for at least consider secondary weapons, as currently they're ignored.  They'd have to effectively be L8.5 in terms of damage, or offer buffs that are a bit rare for the race in question.  They'd have to be race-restricted so that they're not used as primary weapons for the other races.  Such weapons could drop from these farming raids.
  17. I have the android version of TS3 how do you use it to use teamspeak?  TS3 Watcher.  Is it compatible with what's used here, and can someone walk me through how to use it, or do I need to put it on my PC instead?
  18.   Go to the Mordana in Antares, and finish the mission the same way you would as if you had the crystal in your hold.  I was able to complete it successfully that way.

Thanks for the good news Kyp.
  20.   Great, hope it will work well for you.  Good luck.
  21.   Cool, make sure you announce it in game during the week, to maximize your opportunities to gather players for the raid.

I picked the 9 because it was the easiest one to use (as it's currently unusable), but I do say this with the intent of the line moving to the Scout from the TT.  Sorry if I wasn't adequately clear.   I think this line of devices starts at L3 (so a Scout would be able to use it starting at OL20).  If mobs are able to resist debuffs, or skill use against them, this device would make mobs more likely to fail resistance checks.   Today while I was farming the Gene Hunters with my JT in Paramis I saw another device that's unusable drop.  It was a L9 device that was Jenquai Restricted & Warriors Only.  The only warrior that can use L9 devices is the Jenquai Defender.  However this device is a Sparta device so changing it to allow the JW to use it would go directly against game lore.  (Only Sparta things that Jenquai should be able to use should be MCP rewards.)  I think the device was a Sting Novem, but I also noticed the Laser Scope Novem, in the database has the same problem.
  23. I think that if it degrades over time, that may hurt getting people to use it.    Since we're talking about secondary weapons, I'd think that the inherent tradeoffs simply in using said weapons are sufficient.  Adding additional downsides to them, beyond what we already have to begin with, will make something that's already unpopular, for most characters, more unpopular.  If anything we should work on getting the secondary/tertiary closer to the usefulness of primary weapons.   Most players won't use their secondary weapons as is now, the 2 big reasons are skill points, and no L9.  Any changes to secondary weapons need to soften these blows, rather than add additional ones, to get those weapons used more.

Even if the TT could use the L9 device, the Improved Repair equipment buff on the device is of no use, as that buff is only useful to the warrior classes.  IMO, the device is poorly designed on that front as well.  I don't necessarily think that the device should be removed as content, but simply fixed to be relevant to the game.  It's a shame to see the device go to waste, and the debuff it carries is useful as it would reduce the mobs' ability to resist skills or debuffs used against them.   I'd propose lifting either the Terran Only restriction, or changing the Tradesmen Only restriction to Explorers Only for this line of devices.  I slightly favor giving this device to the Terran Scout over the Jenquai Seeker, but giving it to the Scout requires more change to the device than giving it to the JT.   My main fear is that TTs would object to giving the device line to a different class, though I'm not sure how much TTs actually use the device.    The Repair equipment buff is of no use to any of the support classes, the Recharge Shields is useful to the TT, PT, and JT, but not the Scout.  So it could work like this for the L9 version, if it were changed to what I think would work best.   Profiler: L9 device   Terran Only Explorer Only Range 3.5K Weaken Psionic (activated) Improved Hull Patch (equip) Increase Mass (equip) Reduce Signature   If the line was redone for the Scout, the HP buff would start at L5, and the Signature buff would be on the top level of the device.  If the device was to be opened up to all the traders, then the second buff would remain the same, and the 3rd buff would be JT friendly.  IMO making it Scout friendly seems to fit more, since the Scout is an explorer class, it's of Terran manufacture and the device in question is a debuffer.    Since it's an InfinitiCorp device though, I could see them not wanting the Scout to get it, and to a lesser degree the Seeker, given GETCo's hand in both factions.
