  1. Click Launcher > Reset Updates ; then Launcher > Check for Updates (Launcher is on our Launcher where File would be on most programs)
  2. Right now the Warder is on roughly the same timer as live but I may adjust that as time goes on depending on other changes.
  3. Actually you want to give .\release\client.exe the admin permissions. e&b.exe is the old patcher or rather, the old launcher, gpatch is the patcher that is part of e&b.exe
  4. Those bars aren't right for the new classes.
  5. It is possible within limitations for us to do so, yes. We have been considering it, it's just a relatively low priority versus getting everything working. Graphics are a bit of polish that we're not focused on just yet.
  6. Apologies, a misunderstanding on my part, at present no you have to alt tab but if in windowed mode it's not too big a deal. At least it's not on my system
  7. Run (as admin if Vista or Seven) the EnbConfig.exe in the Game's home directory under Program Files. It must be on admin with a system that uses UAC because it must write some values to the registry to set your parameters.
  8. There was a change to the way the launcher works that caused this. If it does it again try Launcher > Reset updates; Launcher > Check for Updates
  9. go figure, Vista is a temperamental beast.
  10. The tools (with the exception of the GM tool since it would allow you to modify other players data) are freely available. I don't know any other projects currently using the CC license, I'd have to do some research. Now, with regards to IP: The author of an intellectual property has exclusive rights, all of EAs data, assets, and art remains their sole property and is as freely available as they make it or if you have your discs, this is why we don't directly provide the game client. All of the content that is in our content database now is a product of someone who's part of this project NOW. The code is fully open source, it can be made to function with the existing database dumps available to the public, but we haven't released any specific packs used to make it run for the less knowledgeable. We commit code to our public svn for use on other people's computers when it is stable. We don't want to damage anyone's PCs or Servers with our code. The snarky comment you referred to was meant as a lighthearted joke, thus the smiley on it. I was telling you to do a search for lorem ipsum so you'd get a gigantic search page full of sites that use it as default data. Donations are something you give for the advancement of a cause, they are not a carrot on a stick for us to chomp after, nor are they a subscription fee. It seems like a threat the way you put your financial contributions and the cessation thereof. We are doing what we can, but we are fully within our rights to share what we want as an open source license especially with what we're testing is not stable. No one public wants their server crashed or data corrupted if they don't understand how to fix it. We don't offer nightly builds, and for the most part never have. We've pushed some changes to the "play" server because we HAD to test something that required you all playing at once and couldn't test it in private. This is all I really have to say on the subject because it's obvious this argument can't be won, despite it being brought again and again (repeat ad nauseam).
  11. Certainly there is an explanation at the top of every c++ source file with links included. (To summarize, it's a creative commons license, share alike, attribution, and no $ to be made if you take it and modify it) In regards to that content, with the exception of around 8-10 of our 400+ missions, it is all created by our staff. I guess we could release those few missions, but that would be kind of a stunted database, besides what other OS project (if you have an example) releases their full development database to the public? I have personally never downloaded anything open source that included a full database, usually just enough test data to get it running and display the features, and at that usually things like "lorem ipsum". If you're not familiar with that, do a search. When we're ready to release the content database it's going to be in six month intervals following our release of that same content. This ensures that players who have stayed loyal and stick with the original community have it first and other servers can have it later if they don't want to create their own branch of the story as some invariably do.
  12. You and your family have my condolences. It's a hard thing to lose one so close.
  13. These are from the last time I worked on the descriptions: Terran Skill Rework and additions:Scout -• Add Afterburn - Max Level of 5, giving three ranks of the skill with tone increase to it's effects between each rank, with the final rank being a group-wide buff.• Add Nullfactor Field - Max Level of 5, nullifying environmental effects and converting it into a reactor recharge rate increase. Recharge rate increase scales up by a percentage per level of the skill. Usable among group wide at max level. Does not stack with Environment Shield.Skill Descriptions:Afterburn - Non-targeted skill. Increases thrust, turn rate, warp speed, and attack avoidance by a percentage per rank of skill.• Rank 1 (Mach I - Superglide): Increases thrust, and turn rate, by 2% and attack avoidance (mob chance to miss) by 2%. Energy cost for skill activation at this rank is 3% of maximum reactor capacity. Lasts 10 minutes.• Rank 2 (Mach II): Increases thrust, and turn rate by 2.5% and attack avoidance (mob chance to miss) by 2.5%. Energy cost for skill activation at this rank is 3% of maximum reactor capacity. Lasts 10 minutes.• Rank 3 (Mach III - Ramjet): Increases thrust, and turn rate by 3% and attack avoidance (mob chance to miss) by 3%. Energy cost for skill activation at this rank is 3% of maximum reactor capacity. Lasts 15 minutes.• Rank 4 (Mach IV): Increases thrust, and turn rate by 3.5% and attack avoidance (mob chance to miss) by 4%. Energy cost for skill activation at this rank is 5% of maximum reactor capacity. Lasts 20 minutes.• Rank 5 (Mach V - Ludicrous speed):Increases thrust, and turn rate by 5% and attack avoidance (mob chance to miss) by 5%. Energy cost for skill activation at this rank is 8% of maximum reactor capacity. Group-wide buff, lasts 30 minutes.Nullfactor Field - Surrounds the Scout's Ship with a field of exotic particles which counteract environmental hazards (Radiation, EM interference, Gravitic Shear, Gravity Wells), converting the energy into a slight increase in reactor recharge rate. This effect is group-wide, and does not stack with the Jenquai Explorer's Environment Shield. Player must manually deactivate, it will take their reactor offline (without draining remaining reactor energy if possible) for a period of 5-20 seconds• Rank 1 (Reactor Reconfiguration): Nullifies Environmental Effects (Radiation only). 2% reactor capacity energy cost. Increases Reactor Recharge rate by 2%• Rank 2 : Nullifies Environmental Effects. (Radiation and EM/P) 4% reactor capacity energy cost. Increases Reactor Recharge rate by 4%• Rank 3 (EM Modulation): Nullifies Environmental Effects. 6% reactor capacity energy cost. Increases Reactor Recharge rate by 6%• Rank 4: Nullifies Environmental Effects. 8% reactor capacity energy cost. Increases Reactor Recharge rate by 8%• Rank 5 (Singularity Generator): Nullifies Environmental Effects. 10% reactor capacity energy cost. Increases Reactor Recharge rate by 10%
  14. Always keep in mind as well that you can open a GM ticket to have a toon moved if necessary but when you do so for a situation such as this, please make a note in the ticket that we'd like the character copied. Our GMs can do that, and then you can resume playing as if nothing happened after they move your live toon out.
  15. I may rework them a lil bit, I'll tell you what, if you want to help with the leg work I'm open to talk about it a bit. However, the mob avoidance will probably start off tight and be loosened so I don't have to nerf it later if it's too overpowered. Here's what I need to see to think about the skills again, the two of you go and figure out what you'd spend on each class if you were to play it. I want to see what kind of skills you have by the end and how many points you put into them. It'll give me an idea for a few things.
  16. I added this to the vendor group, it should be available from the same vendor as the cement bags after the server is restarted next.
  17. We do have some information, and we have restored that as we've had it, but yes for the most part there were few records kept of missions that are still accessible today so the majority is 100% custom, dreamed up by our development group. For example, in Terran space the only missions I had record of were the Terran level 30 promotion bonus (Capture Roland Holmes) and Learn Build Shields from Orkael Lazaara on Kinshasa-Mbali in Aganju, I think there might be one more but I couldn't remember the name off the top of my head at the time of the posting. Everything else is pretty much dreamed up by myself or the previous Terran lead Elana. If anyone has a very detailed mission database or can get one, do feel free to send it to us. It's one thing we could make good use of. In regards to what constitutes live, Terrells list is pretty good: 1) All major systems work 2) We have content for most levels 3) all encounters are balanced 4) at least all "live" raids are implemented up to the point of the day the game launched. 5) balance balance balance (you might want to emulate an ostrich at this point in time if balancing bothers you or you like to scream "nerf") 6) ??? (just kidding) 7) Live We're planning some special events prior to going live, so I think you'll know.
  18. Our intention is to avoid wiping, and the post Tienbau made was prior to the last meeting we had discussing opening up the dev server to volunteers. It's easy though to get this sort of thing out of context, I understand. That's the nature of a forum. As far as a wipe before live, it wouldn't be very fair to the people coming in to play after the game is live if we had people already at 150 I think. I understand that frustration, but at the same time as Avani said our goal is to get this thing to a gold status, if a wipe is required for that we have to do it. At this point it should be an extremely rare case, but it could happen. If we have to do it and we're not testing the basics for balance, we can always enable considerable experience bonuses to lessen the pain of leveling again. It's a matter of changing I believe two lines of code to turn that on anytime we want.
  19. Exploits are not why we wipe, the last time we wiped was because we were moving to a new server for this play server. Exploits will never cause a wipe, the time before that we had some major changes to the database and there would have been synchronization problems for your character. There was an accidental one a while back due to a problem as well, but we do apologize for that one, things happen but we offered a bonus of xp during that time. As long as we have enough people to test major changes, we foresee that the next wipe here could probably be the last before the server is reborn to a gold status. (live again) Like I said before 50-100 people when we need them to test, the more the better so we can get some focused data about problems. IN addition if we have the people do this, everything we bring to "play" should have less problems (if any, hopefully) We'll let everyone know when we think we'll need help, and if you care to donate your time to EnB, you can show up and help make it happen.
  20. After deleting the file I mentioned, go to the top left of our Launcher and choose: Launcher > Reset Updates THEN Launcher > Check for Updates. This will prompt it to treat your files that we installed as if they were a fresh installation and patch them to the current version, assuming you have permissions to write to the directories where the files are installed.
  21. Those links are a mirror to an old one that was hosted, and not directly to our most recent releases. I'll see what we can do about making a new installer though, at least a more up to date one.
  22. Go into C:\Net7\bin\ and delete Net7Proxy.exe, then run the Launcher as Administrator on your computer (especially if using windows 7 or vista) to ensure that you are allowed to write to the directories in question. Then click Launcher > Reset Updates, then Launcher > Check for Update. After the file check it should have forced the launcher to download the most recent proxy since you deleted it.
  23. is now focused on making things happen for Terran stuff and otherwise.

  24. go to that directory, delete Net7proxy.exe and then do your repatch, the one it replaces that file with will match, also run the launcher as administrator on your computer to ensure you can modify the directory in question. Also, moved to tech support.
  25. There was PvP in arena form in the live game. Also, you might be suprised if you had the original live documents because they discussed combat between players as well as several different weapon types on each ship, but I digress a bit. Anyway, the point is PvP is a sore point for a lot of people, and you probably won't be seeing it in an open style format, if anything it would be certain sectors so that people know if they go there, they're fair game for PvP. We can't update the engine or how it displays without writing a new client (not happening for free, sorry), but we can place some new assets such as mob ships and the like but we haven't done so yet because we're busy getting the base functionality ready.
