  1. You're right, wording is everything. Since the CoC is a product of the Board, it trumps all other rule sets. I'll change the EULA once I get my machine running again.
  2. Sorry bout not grabbing your name, I just copied this when I read the text: We were actually talking about doing something like this for a stress release sometime soon. If it's got enough interest, it'd probably be an FPS game, since those are generally the easiest to take out your frustrations in. To those talking about the permissions, and an account wipe. The reason we discussed a full wipe like this for the next time we do it is because there are grandfathered accounts that do not match the current password hash system and we do have a time/date of last login, but we'll still probably do this anyway due to the nature and reason for that wipe to occur.
  3. The CoC by definition tells you that if you log onto any of Net-7 Entertainment's systems, you're agreeing to it implicitly. If someone doesn't read the rules, well that's on them, when they violate them it doesn't serve as an excuse. Of course, I do not know to what abuse you're referring to when you're saying GMs broke rules. What rules did they break? How so? Explain further, you can do so in a PM if you wish.
  4. an even better one is /wormhole "sector name"
  5. To clarify on this "voodoo magic" all actions in game go into what amounts to a merry-go-round with numbered slots (a very very very large, numbered merry-go-round) and it drops off each update as it passes. That's the easiest way I could describe to you on how it works. (For the tech heads, it's a threaded queue) It does this to avoid trying to change everything immediately. If we allowed everything to change in real time, it would cause massive lag for everyone. Do you want that? Now, with that said, it does not cause corruption for the values to be changed while a player is logged in, but your user data is initialized from that data when you log in. Thus the reason GMs must tell you to log out and back in after they make a change on your toon. We are almost guaranteed not to implement this suggestion because it would be wasted work when the skill can just be implemented when it's time. Yes it may not be fun to grind or now, but because of the stage we want to focus on things like getting major systems working (this does include the skill but it'll be some time because there ARE higher priority issues, like I mentioned in another thread: Jobs) Please be patient with us while everything gets set back up. I will discuss it with everyone else to perhaps open up some more communication as that seems to be a priority from a lot of these posts. You're not going to get instant information, but you might see some changes here soon. We'll look at what we can do to improve our communication with everyone.
  6. If every last person could be trusted to fully describe their issue (and search to make sure it doesn't exist already) we would probably leave mantis more open for example. The simple fact is, the majority while professing that they would/currently do so, when we left it open we got simple threads that didn't describe an issue thoroughly. What we need to know is HOW you went about doing something step by step and what your expectations were as well as what actually happened. Chances are, if a ticket you write is less than 250 words (being very lenient), you didn't describe enough to help. This is part of the reason we do a bit of our own testing, but then again as organization has come together the beta team has properly formed under its own lead and things are beginning to progress. There are several things coming down the pipes, but right now we're trying to make sure most of the major systems from live are there (for example, Jobs) How would people feel on the idea of having a bi-weekly content feature of some kind? Many of us don't have a huge amount of time or are having to work extra for other reasons (me for example, to afford continuing college as well as an internship I have to get done with a professional game design firm) Kyp

    Mantis

Your account was registered at least once. I got an e-mail. It just hasn't been activated yet for whatever reason. I reset the password, it should e-mail you a link to do so.
  8. He's also correct that we restored it, but we did it on a different path: Mantis site You should only have access to view and read. We originally disabled the bug reporting by standard users because when we get a ticket like "Mission Problem" I did a mission in Earth that didn't work. --- well, you get the idea, that doesn't help much. Unfortunately we don't have the time to configure mantis for individual types of tickets. Once we do we could change that a bit and may be able to open it back up. For the time being, use the player submission forum and the betas will look at them, test them, and post to mantis as needed.
  9. This depends on who's sectors you are hanging in. Most if not all my vendors tell you the equipment level that they carry in the initial dialog. The problem with something like this is introducing new assets requires us to be able to unmix, edit, and remix the .mix files used without causing client crashes. This has proven absurdly difficult to date, but maybe eventually.
  10. It is much appreciated, I am downloading it to review it now.
  11. Certainly, I don't see why we couldn't (at least not at first glance). We'd have to examine story conflicts, but I'm pretty confident they could be done once we can do what we want to with the missions.
  12. Once you register a forum account and login, the downloads section should be visible.
  13. Yes a forced update is all that would be required.
  14. Have you tried resetting your updates by clicking "Launcher > Reset Updates" and then "Launcher > Check for Updates"? This may help you around it. From the message, one of the files doesn't match our server manifest. If the hash is invalid, the patcher can't use it. I've not heard of many others experiencing such problems, do you run your Launcher in Admin mode? It's always recommended on a vista or win7 box at the least.
  15. That really sounds like the missing framework slayer. Use .net framework 2.0 or better guy, you can get that from microsoft's website, just do a search on google for .NET Framework, should come up as the current version of 3.5 (unless they've released a new version and I've just not been paying attention) Also, torrents are not remotely current, the downloads section of these forums contain links to all the current data. The only one item you could get from teh torrent which never changes is the eandbdemo client as we don't host it on our site directly. I recommend trashing whatever you've got aside from teh client, and starting over in our download section (after installing the .NET framework)
  16. Correct. Developer tools only work if you have access to use them. They are for those looking to run their own server who want to modify them to make use of them.

    keymap.ini

Our validation/check script is equal opportunity. At the same time, it's also conformist, if it doesn't match, it must be overwritten! I know its a little of a hassle guys but the best bet is to just make copies of the ones you want to keep and replace them, otherwise we'd have to take extra time out to find a way to exclude those files and I'd rather be working on the game and its systems than the patcher at the moment.
  18. Tis very odd, the install path is correct but in the code it should name it all in lower case, though windows shouldn't see a difference in the "Net7" and the "net7" of our install path, as far as I know all versions of windows are case insensitive. The path programmed in for installation is <SystemDrive>:\net7\
  19. It wasn't the client update causing this, it was just a coincidence.
  20. I'm a bit of a friendly hand with phpBB3 myself, but we have a purchased license for IPB, so that's what we use =)

    TS vs JE

Afterburn will not be a passive, but I can't make it too incredibly powerful of a speed burst, the player base has already shown me that they can make the scout boogie even before I've got that skill in.
  22. The problem isn't that we can't put them in, it's that we can't display them because the client is set up for 5 only.
  23. It's not, it was the Roland Holmes mission, right? This is what I recall. That requires some scripting I don't have access to just yet because we haven't fully implemented it.
  24. Multi-boxing for the purpose of playing all the characters is not something I would hate because right now the more people we have logged in the better. It leads to quicker finding and resolution of the problems allowing us to increase the player cap faster. People who use it to be entirely self reliant and not work with any other player are a detriment though, these games are built around social functionality and working with others. However, once we go live it would be best not to have too many accounts, we can limit it by your IP addresses and if it became an excessive problem, we probably would/will so keep that in mind if you are a multi-boxer and you abuse others through means of multi-boxing.
