  1. I noticed this topic kind of dropped off back in the beginning of February, but I was wondering how much of it was addressed? I just started my JE in April and wondering if I will run into these issues later on. The explore xp is so low on 1 and 2 ores that I went searching for lvl 3 as soon as I could get prospect up that high, and then ran in to the issue of the fields being too large and too diverse, couldn't clear the fields before my hull filled up, the trade xp is also pretty low considering the amount of time you have to put in to refining the ores then selling the comps as compared to farming mobs and selling the loot. I do believe the respawn timer issue has been fixed, haven't noticed too many empty ore fields and the other issue that people mentioned with high lvl mobs in low lvl ore fields I haven't noticed either.
  2. It would, but all the extra fat people on the planet are compressing the expanded material so it all balances out. What is the minimum number of moves it takes Chuck Norris to win a game of connect4?
  3. I've seen this on my computer at work, IE7 on windows xp, I've not noticed it on my computer at home IE8 on windows 7.
  4. I think everyone is giving too much credit to the mental capacity of a Mane. Have you seen these things? Giant circling blob ball looking things? In actuality I would think a mob such as this should have the mental capacity of a wild animal in which there are two instincts, predator and survivor. The survivor instinct is obvious, this would be a mob that would run away at the first sign of a progen tank, since we don't have any mobs like this, we would have to assume that all mobs are predators. IMO mobs should have two slightly different AI based on the type of mob. Manes, spores, dzurai, etc would have the wild animal predator mentality and the order in which they attack would either be completely random, or attack whatever is closest. The "pilot" controlled mobs, chavez, red dragon, etc would have a more intelligent AI whereas they would attack in some predetermined order. Say certain types are more bullish and would go for the tanks first and other types are more strategic and would go after support characters first. Just a thought.
  5. www.enbarsenal.com is a pretty good site where you can break down the search by class/race only and class/race restricted (IE: progen only, jenquai restricted, explorer only, etc). The one thing it doesn't have that I think some people are looking for is something more like terran available. In that instance the query would be like: where not in ('terran restricted', 'jenquai only', 'progen only')
  6. Good point, if you were playing as an "enemy" you could never go through any gates that had turrets except for pirate gates.
  7. I agree with the sentiment of getting the devs to move on to something else, but to start at everyone at TL50, you might as well just take TL out of the game completely, then people would just use trade runs to make money, which means fewer people would do it because there are better ways to earn credits and then these issues go away. (I'm hoping people are catching the sarcasm here, I'm trying to lay it on pretty thick)
  8. while(sober){ beer++; }

  9. I'm not at home right now, but I'm pretty sure there is an NPC somewhere that you can buy what you need.
  10. Apologies if this is a very noob question, but I just want to understand what is going on. Is the issue of the faction getting reset everytime the server crashes getting fixed? Or, are the BBW/Paramis gates getting opened back up again?
  11. So is this an every Saturday thing?
  12. I'm just wondering why in addition to the lvl 100 HU changes that were pushed last night, why the faction changes for the BBW gates were not mentioned in the forums. I didn't do a lot of trade runs myself, but it sure stirred up a hornets nest in the chat channels last night. Not just New Players either, General and even Market spent most of the night talking about it. On a related note, it would seem to me that doing Somer/Prasad runs would be a better use of time, then trying to kill the 10,000 Chavez needed to repair RD faction enough to open the gates just to do the Somer/Fenris runs. Actually even doing the Somer/Fenris runs the long way would even be a faster way to increase TL than trying to reopen the BBW gate first. I do however agree with some of the posts I have been reading this morning stating that the faction gain/loss should be scalable. Bigger gain/loss for higher lvl mobs.
  13. You didn't specify like top level PP, just starting out, or everything inbetween. Somebody with more experience might have a better answer, but I have an OL50 PP that I started a couple weeks ago. Right now, I have level 3's and 4's for everything: Guns (lvl 3): Since I chose PL when I started this char, I use Bayonets. I've heard others go with the Xbow as they have a higher DPS (faster reload), but the difference is so minimal at this point and the Bayonets hold 100 more ammo per stack. Shield (lvl 4): I think I got this with my lvl30 HU, but can't remember, I have a Shroud of the Optimal, has a couple nice buffs, boost proj range and decrease proj energy usage. The proj energy conservation buff is nice when you're fighting CL18-20, because I can use my shield recharge skill while I'm using the guns and don't run out of energy in a hurry. The Falkirk has a higher cap and recharge rate and still boosts proj range, but when fighting something that is a higher CL, I find that my reactor gets used up too quickly and the little extra cap doesn't compensate enough. Reactor (lvl 4): I'm using a Nero Tertius, has a lower cap than the Titus, but a higher recharge rate, extremely important to a progen doing battle. The Titus has a better buff with the shield recharge, but I don't think its enough of a buff to move me off the Nero. I find with both the reactor and the shield, the higher recharge rate is slightly more important than the cap. Engine (lvl 3): I go with the Breton and RR+. Unless I need to be a little more sneaky (difficult with a progen) then I go with the SS. The Menace skill is nice when it works. Especially if you get aggro'd by like 6 or 7 things at once and can send 4 or 5 of them away. At the earlier levels, level 1 I just used what I started with, you don't spend much time on lvl 1, lvl 2 guns, the bayonets aren't available yet, so I went with xbow or musket (haven't noticed any difference between the two other than the xbow is loot only), lvl 2 and 3 reactors there are Nero's available at both levels, shields, lvl 2 and 3 have falkirks, engine was still the Breton and RR+ combo.
  14. Ah I speak v'rix pretty well, not too up on Tyran speak, thx for the heads up
  15. Nicely done, Seeker. Though why does the PvP area need to be big? It would be interesting, especially if you are putting the area on a short timer, to have it be a small area. The idea of PvP is a battle between groups, not an explore mission for JE's.
  16. Tien - Tienbau, the dev Also all of the classes: PW - Progen Warrior PE/PS - Progen Explorer/Sentinal PP/PT - Progen Privateer/Trader JE - Jenquai Explorer JD, JW - Jenquai Defender/Warrior JT, JS - Jenquai Trader/Seeker TT - Terran Tradesman TE - Terran Enforcer TS - Terran Scout
  17. IT here, mostly software/web development in java, just finished school in December and started working in the field in January, so still learning. Dabbling a bit in C++ and C# now
  18. Excellent point, I guess if everyone tried doing that many at once, that would fill the server up in a hurry. I think I will just restrict my use to two at a time. And really the only real point to having more than one client running is the ability to trade easily between toons without having to try to find someone else in the area to do it for you.
  19. In case anyone is interested, (this post is kind of long and may not be interesting to some people) yesterday I posted that I was going to try running 4 clients at once on my computer. I don't have all the details of my home computers hardware because I am not at home right now, but I am running windows 7 and have 4 gb RAM and I think a 2.6 processor and 7 mb/s wireless DSL. I think this is the way it was in live and pretty sure this is the way it is now, if you group with just one other player and tour them around the galaxy, the veteran player will pick up a small amount of additional explore xp for every discovered nav that the newbie hasn't seen yet, however the newbie will not get as much xp as if they had found the nav exploring on their own. However if you group like 3 to 4 or more and take them around, everyone would get more xp than they would going by themselves. I wish I would have kept track of the exact xp that I was picking up, but basically I had an OL48 PP and an OL14 PW that I had been running dual-client for the last week or so. Last night I created a JE and a TT, did some of the real basic beginning stuff (think I got them both to OL4) then I had my PP/PW combo go and pick them up at their respective global gates and then took all 4 in a group back to Somer and did one trade run from Somer to Fenris and back. By the time I was done, the PP was up to OL50, PW was OL20, TT and JE were both like OL13. At the time I was doing this, there were probably 290 people on, it was a little choppy warping, (not so annoying that it made you want to stop) and a lot of people in Somer, so it was really choppy when I was in there trying to sell everything. Not nearly as bad in Fenris. Overall I would say its a decent way to get some explore and trade xp for multiple toons at once, I don't know if I want to try combat yet, maybe when I get higher level on my JE that can create some decent group buffs, I don't have a lot of experience with group combat, so any input on that aspect would be accepted and appreciated.
  20. Great now we have to install fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems in all of stations. Thanks alot Ghengis
  21. I used to do full screen until Tien opened up the dual-client mod, now I run it in windowed mode so I can have them side by side 19" screen 16:9, run them 800x600 kinda small but not too bad. If I ever run just one client I do full screen. From what I have been hearing alt-tab seems to work better on windows 7 than on XP. Especially if you hit alt-tab then hold the alt key down, it will show thumbnails of all the open windows and you can see whats going on with your other toon without really needing to switch over. Small side note, I just found out that you can actually run more than 2 clients at once too if your computer can handle it. I'm going to hook up the laptop to the 51" big screen in the living room and see what it looks like to have 3 or more running at once
  22. yes, that is exactly what I was looking for, thanks CDel
  23. It just started for me yesterday, very random, once was gating from Beta Hydri to New Edinburgh, the other I believe was going from Mars Gamma to Altair III. It didn't CTD, though, it only crashed to char selection. Also am not using any custom mods.
  24. This may already exist somewhere and I just don't know about it, could we get a thread or a link added to the enb-emulator site that everytime a new update is available, the details of the update would be posted? I know when you first load net-7 there is a window in there that lists the details of the last update, I think having that on the website would be helpful too.
