I play an explorer, I do not make these suggestions for my time issues. I do not consider it an easy button because it is not exactly difficult to fly anywhere. It is just a waste of time which doesn't fit a free to play model. I am making these suggestions to potentially increase the fun to every person that plays. I don't think an improvement to the game should be dismissed because it allows people to enjoy the content of the game rather than wasting their time, eventually showing another weakness of the game. That just means the next weakness needs to be addressed as well in order to continue to improve the gaming experience.
You start off saying it's not a time issue . . . then you go on to contradict yourself by stating it's a time issue - twice.
you must be thinking about Freelancer EnB mod or something as in EnB live* no mob aggroed when you flew past them in warp. * at the time of sunset of-course. what happened very early in live or even in beta is irrelevant.
There were Pirates, in Live, that were on a Nav route that would sometimes cause you to drop out of warp. They would demand tribute be paid. If you refused, they would fire on you. If you paid them, sometimes, they'd still fire on you. It was very rewarding once you had your level up high enough to be able to tell them to stuff it and smoke them.
I wasn't saying to jump to unexplored locations. Did you read the post? Most people get tours anyway. You would not be forced to use it either. If you want to take the long way, you would be more than welcome to. EDIT: Your giving me negative rep on my post because you didn't even bother to read the first one? Grow up man.
What would be the point of higher level/quality engines and speed devices if one can just WH everywhere? Wouldn't this undermine the market for those (assuming, at some point, some balance is restored to game economy)?
Im not seeing what you are describing
You are logged into the Portal and you don't see buttons like "Account", "Database", etc? Are you sure you are logged into the Portal?
terribly sorry ran a search did'nt really see anything like ths if i am mistaken my bad guess i'll stick to the differing dbs and write my own info for the items i would like and just use the net 7 db for build comps
Sorry if I sounded harsh, that wasn't my intent. Essentially the Net-7 team has said that they won't be providing drop information specifics (what drops something and where) anymore. They have also said, however, that they have no problem with players developing their own resources to store/provide this information (pretty much as it was in Live).
How do I get it to list my Toons ? is there a thread somewhare with instructions ?
Perhaps I am misunderstanding the question. You *should* only need to login to the portal with the username/password of the *game* account that corresponds to the characters you want. Example: you have 3 characters - Manny, Moe, and Jack all belonging to an account with the username of "Peppyboy". You login to the portal as Peppyboy and select the "Account" button at the top and then the "Signatures" tab. You should now see the Signature Generator panel with each of your characters listed below. Select which character that you wish to generate/update a sig. Select one of the backgrounds on the panel that follows. There should be a little spin-thingy while it builds and then click "Close" when it's done. Once you've generated the sig you want to have appear here in the forum select the text at the bottom after "Forum:", inclusive of the left-most "img" and right-most "/img" brackets, copy (Control-C in Windows) and paste (Control-V) into the Edit Signature box (My Settings->Profile->Change Signature). Note: the .sig will not auto-update as you increase your character's levels. You will need to go back into the Sig Builder and reselect the char to rebuild the sig - but you won't need to cut and paste anymore (though you might need to refresh to flush the cached image in your browser).
So in the last few days i have seen 2-3 different people plugging different sites for database information. Why not just make the database we have on the net 7 site valid, and instead of hiding the drop of said items why not show percentages and where an item drops from would help to validate loot tables as well as provide a trusted source of information for the new people like myself instead of having 3-4 suggestions of where to go to look something up.
The question of whether drop locations is going to be shown on the Net-7 dbase has been asked and answered, multiple times. Do we really need another thread to re-hash that?
Working much better now, no delay to start mining after warp. I have noticed that in addition to mining, both L1&2 cloak and powerdown also used the same rules for whether the ship was 'moving', would it be possible to seperate and return them to the previous PITA system, while keeping mining on this new system? Powerdown could be exploited for advantages as it is now (moving while powered-down), cloak is irrelavent since noone uses L1/2 after they have combat cloak which can be used while moving anyway. Or have Powerdown bring the ship to a stop, the same way activating the prospect beam does.
Mostly good points but (very) minor disagreement about low level cloak - I still use it if I need to go AFK for a while in a guarded ore field as the low power drain allows my char to stay there virtually indefinitely. Have no problem being stationary before I can exercise it (like before), though, think that's a valid restriction. Back to the main point - thank you Tien, I'll have to get back out there and check out the changes. It was really a pain before and why I stopped mining for a bit.
All; Not sure if this is know or not but I noticed a couple patches ago. When I try and do a patch it works; but then when I launch my Norton stuff say net7proxy.exe is doing something suspicious and it removed. I then have to go back, relaunch, advanced and ask for a total update. Update works and then it works just fine.
It's unfortunate that Norton doesn't prompt the user. I run TrendMicro and after every patch to Net7 it detects the program has changed the next time I run it and prompts me to either allow the program to continue (and stores that so no prompt needed the next time) or to disallow the program. Perhaps there's some admin setting for Norton that might provide more interaction?

It's been quite a while since I've seen a problem on chat (granted, though, I don't monitor new player channel as much as I once did). Usually "bad language" seems to happen in one of two ways: * accidental - either via a mistell or bad habit. The player typically was not intended to swear but "it just happened". These are usually followed by one or more players posting something like "language, please" and the offender responds with an apology. * intentional - people that just want to be jerks. Sometimes it's in response to a "language please" where they then get all huffy and make claims that "this is nothing your kids aren't already seeing . . . " blah blah blah and sometimes they are just intentionally trolling. In the first case I don't see the need for GM action. In the second case, IMO, the GM's should hit the player with the ban hammer but good.
Then again, anyone can make a misstake... If the solution is easy to code then I can't think of any reason to not do it. The attitude that people are stupid and have themselves to blame is kind of silly in my opinion. //Leandra
I didn't see where anyone said anyone else was stupid. In fact I haven't seen any name calling at all - unless there was a post that was later edited. Just a reasonable discussion between reasonable people about where best to direct limited technical resources. We should be able to be free to disagree without passing judgment on each other, no?
I too, was shocked this last night, Friday, buy the tone of Market chat. It was like a WoW troll had escaped and had come to roost. Derogatory, accusatory, player harrassment, open challenges to come get flamed... I was tempted to post about the ToS that we all agree to during login, but instead thought better and decided to just be calm and see how it panned out and how it was handled. It was a weird night in that nearly none of the major builders were on, basically our 'elders', plus it being a basically full moon outside. But know this, the next time it happens, I'm willing to be 'That Guy' who screencaps the ToS violations and makes the post about it. It's not that I want to be the EnB police, not at all, and I know I'm new to the Emu project, but I played from very near release to sunset, it being amoung the saddest days of my life, that had a deep effect on me. I died with my friends that day, and to be here again is like a blessing to me. We have some great folks here, and this level of behavior is not something I want to see again. Thank you EnB staff!, and thanks all for your time in this matter. Sincerely, -Kii
People that complain about things but take no action - when action is available - are just whining. Seriously, it was bad enough to post here but not bad enough to actually DO anything?
as for a full check disk? what for?
Because others, in other threads, have reported that this resolved their issue. It doesn't make sense, I agree, but that's what some have said resolved their issue.
I have a idea to help with the economy and to get enough money to pay for the server and upgrades, to keep the game running. My idea is to do like the Japanese games online, such as perfectworld.com. We should have a special type money that you have to buy through earth and beyond emulator with real money. Eg: they sell Zen at ten dollars U.S. per 1000 Zen. You can only buy special items with Zen. Then this way the only way to get the uberloot is to either buy Zen (Special $$$) in game and people will can trade credits for, (Special $$$). I know the programmers may have a hard time with this but it would be beneficial to both server and players, it would help to even out extra credits and a wipe may not be needed. P.s. Just my thought, follow something that works. The game I was playing was http://boi.perfectworld.com/
. . . and then watch the EA legal team suddenly take a much more focused interest in the project.
I dunno... this seems more a PEBKAC problem, but eh, just goes with the territory of paying attention if ya ask me. Granted I too have sold something in a fast frenzy, then kicked myself afterwards but hey my fault eh hehe.
+1 Not a big fan of spending effort to protect people against themselves. Like the Dr. says, if it hurts to do that . . . don't do that!
If a type of spitting is considered an offensive act, I'd like to know when I moved to bizzaro world.
+1 Never heard of "gleek" in that contest in my rather long life until it was posted here, in fact until now "gleek" was just nonsensical word . . . and still is.
with the exception of one or two L9 devices my PS uses L8's for this reason exactly.
I also have never understood why L9 devices, mostly, have debuffs that are not present on the equivalent L8 devices. I understand "that is the way it was in Live" . . . but is this one of those things we can discuss whether that's really the way it *should* be? Having debuffs on some of the middle level devices kind of makes sense if only to provide an incentive to upgrade Device skill to a higher level to be able to equip devices that don't have debuffs. But why would the top level devices have a penalty associated with them that, when full consideration is given to the SP needed, makes the lower L8 devices seem attractive by comparison? It's not a game breaker or anything but it still is a major pet peeve of mine.

Yeah, I'd suggest a good rule of thumb for any of these missions is judicious and unrestrained use of the "Scroll Lock" key to snapshot every pane of each dialogue. Then you can go back - at your own pace - and review them and transcribe the info into something (like Captain's Log) that you can easily access later when you need it.

Game hangs when I try to create a character
garblesoup replied to moozilla's topic in Technical Support
That didn't work. I'm not really sure what the issue is here, should I try reinstalling?
This isn't a fix, merely a potential circumvention, but try using the Character & Starship Creator to create your character *offline* and then login and select the new char to complete the process.
