  1. I played on Galileo...   Also, Pezza, Cromulis, Halek, Sheriden, Sealclubber, Paris (the bestest reactor builder), Soroboros, Budman, more I can't think of ATM...   Good to see you made it to the EMU. :)   -Overt.
  2. Mining etiquette would still suggest that if you touch a roid to mine whatever from it and there is still something left inside, that you clear out said roid before moving on. Or else risk being branded a "cherry picker." Someone who only takes what they want, and leaves behind only the trash for the next guy. This is especially true for hulks.   The golden rule when mining has always been to empty the resource if you have drilled it for something. But people will be people, and cherry pickers will always be. So all we can do is recite the golden rule in hopes that it will eventually sink into the cherry picker's thick skull. :)   Thanks for reading...   -Overt.
  3. Hi,   I was wondering if the nebula effect that started around December for Paramis, can be turned off locally via the game files. I know my way around them fairly well, so all I really need is where to look, and what needs to be changed (I was a dev here for a spell). I find the effect extremely annoying as it draws unrealistic looking poof of gas (probably on little 3D planes) instead of a more realistic fog like effect, as you would find in a couple of Progen Station. In fact, you might consider having a cdev try to apply that asset tag in some fashion to a test sector to see what happens. Anyway, the only reason I ask here is that my own repeated search of the files has turned up nothing. the fact is with my type of eye sight, I tend to hyper focus on stuff that bugs me, so I find it very distracting to be in there. I know there is another sector that also has this applied to it, but I can't recall which.   Thanks a ton for your time. :)   -Overt.
  4.   I fully agree with Madmac's idea.   -Overt.
  5. Its an elegant solution IMO. It would be nice to allow 2 through the gate, but understand if you choose not to.   Good Job.   -Overt.
  6. Loot prices were lowered in ST4, and were never restored when we went "Live." A good example would be the mobs in VG. In original live, I remember getting a few million in an hour or two of hunting with my PW. This covered my ammo expenses then. As it is now, it doesn't even cover that amount. VG used to be a good way for mid level toons to level and make some credits in Live.   -Overt.
  7. Additional content suggestion:   How about putting in the asteroid fields to the hidden areas (Zweilhander, Earth, Yokan, etc). Resources need improvement.   While you are at it, put the roid fields back to lvl 8 & 9 in the hidden areas in ABB, as they were in live.   Thanks!   -Overt.
  8. This is likely a client side mod and probably can't be done guys. Another option would be to use a macro app like Auto Hot Key, and bind a key to make a mouse click on that spot. You'll have to get the screen coordinates for the button using something like Info Grabber, but its not difficult to do. I use MacroGoblin myself, and bind keys to things I'd like the client to do for me that IMO it should be able to do.   So for this, think of it in steps:   1. Move mouse pointer to the screen coordinates you find in Info Grabber. (Might be able to omit if the editor you use can simply click on a part of the screen) 2. Full mouse click at the desired coordinates. 3. Return the cursor to the center of the screen. (For clearing any controls, as a safety maneuver.)   I hope this helps somewhat. :)   -Overt.
  9.   You had better adjust your aim there mister. This Jenpie sided with the progens on that argument as well.
  10. Capping globally is like applying a global nurf. IF so, you are going about it the wrong way yet again. So I'll ask again, why was it capped? Why not make it something realistic like what a device or buff could theoretically place it, as it should be.
  11. Why cap navigate skill at 10, when a Nav Computer 7 would put it to 11.06 on a JE? Were you guys trying to fix something with this nurf?   -Overt.
  12.   First point, No kidding. I remember how it was in live, but there are other things that need more attention than this. With a roll of the dice on the amount of damage delivered per shot, per beam, this isn't a good idea.   Your second point, Mobs take off in a given direction at high speed when hit by a coma. Try it and see. Go hit the RD base, GoBB, etc with it and see.   On Matt's discussion... We are talking about short distances for concentrated focused light and particle weapons. A few kilometers is no where near enough to disperse that much focused energy. Lasers today can maintain a cohesive beam for thousands of miles. All I am going to say about it. Yes, I have had a few physics classes, and I have other first hand (personal) sources on technology like this. Its not too difficult to understand.

    Idea

How about a Bogeril NPC that takes scrap loot items for a reward of some kind. This might be a DT thing, where an NPC in the station buys up all those worthless scrap items like the shield arrays from hulks and what not, for either faction, XP, or something. It would give both a purpose and value to those items.   -Overt.
  14. Oh joy, just what me need, another nerf when other supporting items don't work right. You might want to consider fixing the support devices like the coma, etc first before doing something like this.   Please guys, stop nerfing the hell out of this game. Its getting old and we're getting really tired of it.
  15. Indeed, I was told the same thing with Static's Decal.   Thanks!
  16. No Terrell, but the fields should at least be as populated as they were in live. Its not like its a real difficult thing to request either.   -Overt.
  17. Camped, Aye.   Example: I was in the Niffelheim Cloud when the server went offline (Also in another sector). Anyway, I was about 3 - 5 minutes from when it came back up, and the fields were already sucked dry. I have seen specific people in these areas. I will not name anyone outright for the sake of sanity. These fields had other roids and hulks present.  Level  8 roids left behind, and a few hulks with debris. For the sake of trying, I made it to these locations on a few restarts, and confirmed that the items were there, and there was someone there within a minute or so. And yes, I did see the same miners do it repeatedly. So it seems that some people are leaving miners near these locations, and rush to these spots to get all the goodies. (Rush mining perhaps?) Needless to say, the ore fields and hulk fields are there (fully spawned) when the server restarts.   I hope this answers your questions adequately. :)   -Overt.
  18. Several high level hidden ore fields that were that way in live, have been changed to low level. A good example of this would be the field south of the RD Cap ship in ABB. These fields should be restored to level 8 & 9 roids. The remaining empty field areas (Zweilhander, Arduine, Earth, Yokan, etc..) also still need to be populated with their respective ore fields. IIRC, all of the hidden fields were level 7 through 9. The few fields that are in game are being camped, as well as the remaining hulk fields. So those of us who don't play 24/7, genuinely have a hell of a time getting anything of value.   Please consider populating these areas.   Thanks!   -Overt.
  19. Yo mean like this one? :)   [attachment=2287:Vadenmart_Billboard-1680.jpg]
  20. Out of curiosity, was bio loot prices in places like Varen's Girdle and in general ever restored to live levels? In live, I recall making a few mill hunting there in a couple hours on my PW.   -Overt.

    DNS

It was an issue with his DNS server. Setting his DNS to the google servers to 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 -corrected the issue. This is only a temp fix as the name resolution is returned from an outside DNS server, and puts more hops and as such, added latency (increased ping times) is not ideal. A closer in-house DNS server is always preferable. This does not mean that your game ping times will increase, but for example; I am referring to the time between when you type in an address to a web browser (or other web apps) and press enter, the time in which the submitted, and the correct server address is identified and returned to your system will increase. This is due to the extra hops to a server outside of your cable providers' network, + systems needing to be traversed to return an address is also increased. Time Warner cable should be contacted by ALL of those affected by this issue, to make them aware of the issue. To resolve it temporarily, open your browser, login to your router, and see if you have an option in your WAN configuration to assign static DNS server addresses. If so, use the above addresses in those fields there. This is preferable to entering the addresses to your local adapter settings, since it retains your local network DNS configuration for anything on the local network side of things. Once Time Warner Cable has corrected the issue, you can set your router or settings back to obtain your DNS settings dynamically from them. For more info on how to do this, please go to the manufacturer website for your router, and download and read the manual appropriate to your router model. Again, be sure to call them, and if possible, get someone on the phone who can/will report issues up the chain to their systems administrators. Best of luck guys! I hope you are able to get this resolved. -Overt. Edit: Additional Info... Also, to refresh your local DNS cache (Simply put: a list of addresses look ups to domain names for faster name look-up), Open a command prompt (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt) and type in: IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS In addition to the DNS server change mentioned above, This might also help in that it cleared the local name cache, and your puter will have to go out and get the addresses again, thus renewing them. I am aware the setting is there in the launcher to do this. However I would still choose the command prompt method instead. Call it old school thinking.
  22. Absolutely Totte. You do have a valid point. Its a pitty that Zack never seems to listen to the players and spends so much time insulting them, or jumping down their throats when someone posts a valid point. Guys, I have to say it, with all the changes made to the game, in mine and in the opinions of many I talk to on a daily basis (many that don't seem to have the courage to post here themselves regarding issues), you guys are squeezing the enjoyment factor out of this game for many players. This recent crafting system incarnation is the latest example. Take things from an actual former games development manager in real life.... Making things in game challenging is one thing, but taking things out, or altering things that the players enjoy is the wrong way to go about it. You should always ALWAYS! be keeping an ear open to the players for honest feedback. Always, listen to the people that actually play the game. After all, they are the reason this project is suppose to exist. We want to login here and have a good time, to forget about the droll of their daily lives, and play a game they truly love and enjoy. I do not know nor really care how I am perceived, but rest assured my comments are meant to reflect the genuine passion I (and many others) have for this game. I am not here to stir the pot (or up to anything Zack). I am simply here to inform you guys of how you are being perceived by the players (and I don't mean Magoo). Many players feel that you guys are not listening to us any more. Many may not have the courage to come here to complain themselves. You are earning reputation for being disrespectful to players, not listening to them, and changing the game to a state that falls outside of scope of the actual Live game from the previous decade, and are purposely making things too difficult and unenjoyable. Sure, there are always ways to improve things from live, but honestly things as of late are not heading in that direction. There should be more of an open dialogue to the players in regards to the game, and less attitude. As an Admiral of Static, I see more than my share of gripes and complaints. I would not make this up, nor lie about it. And its unfortunate that the players feel this way about it, and many of those more visible developers that seem to be running the emulator. Again, please don't take this negatively. We simply want to see this game headed in the right direction again on all fronts. Thanks for your time, and for reading. -Overt.

    Live Enb

I wasn't trying anything Zack, merely pointing out something that may NOT have been put back to "LIVE" levels. I was agreeing to Feurix's post to the difficulty factor. BTW, I am not surprised that all the dev's commenting here as to the difficulty of things recently, and are not having any problems finding cash, or not seeing issues. You guys do know where to look, and where to find items far easier than the casual player, and as such, may not be the best opinion as to what is and what is not, difficult in this game. Because of your status as a dev, you guys should not be too quick to comment and apply your conspiracy theories that players are always trying to pull something on you, so much as trying to listen to what people are trying to tell you, and addressing that instead of pointing a finger like I have it in for you or something. My comment was meant to assess what the actual state of loot pricing. Instead, Zack, seems to think I have some personal grudge against him, which is definitely not the case. Infact, until that reply Zack, I actually thought of you as a dev that gets things done, and that you actually did listen to players, BECAUSE you were involved in correcting issues with the faction wipe, and the way you are always willing to help others. It seems now that maybe I was completely wrong about you. I'll stop here before you think I am up to something else, or before you think I am trying to manipulate you in some other way. And never mind my last comment. I will not be posting another word here on these forums.
  24. How about whatever the hell you wanna be? -Overt.
