  1. I didn't vote but I will make a comment. Sometimes I don't clear a roid because it has ores that I really can't mine or it takes an entire reactor to mine 1 ore. When I get a roid that has 2 level x ores and 5 level y ores, I may only be able to mine the level x and have to leave the level y. Sometimes I don't clear a field because it isn't worth the exp debt from the overpowered mobs guarding a field (level 23 mobs guarding a level 2 resoucre filed isn't worth it). Sometimes, because of whatever constraints I may have, I may only mine two types of roids because it gets too time consuming to dump other ores out of the hold because there are way too many ore types than I have cargo holds.

  4. I remember in the original EQ players went to the EC tunnel to hawk their wares. I remember in the original Asheron's Call one of the outposts (in the Dire Lands?) served the same purpose - a place for people to meet and barter goods. In both games it was like traveling to the bazaar and you interacted with people. I'd hate to see an AH in EnB.
  5. I noticed this last night in Freya. The rocks were fairly spread out and it was easier to warp to each rock. I was puzzled at first why I kept ending up several klicks away after warping. So I used thrusters and noticed I was going almost straight up or down. There were a couple that even using thrusters I could not get close enough to be within the range of my prospect beam. This makes clearing a field for the field bonus or re-spawn difficult if you can't get to them. That is how I remember them. These new big ring of rocks fields makes gaining explore exp via mining even more painful because you spend much more time traveling to each individual rock, then mine that one rock then thrust to next rock - rinse, repeat for excruciatingly slow mining exp. In live you could position yourself to be able to tap a few at time before maneuvering. While you didn't get much exp per rock at least you could get a couple rocks fairly quickly so the rate of exp gain, while still less than combat or trade, was at least a tolerable grind.

  8. * Mining fields - spawn is too slow especially if the field needs to be cleared before anything spawns again. Too varied a resource mix that a JE ship can't hold it all to clear a field in one pass. Too many mobs or often too high a level mob roaming fields making darn near impossible to clear the field in hopes of some future re-spawn. Meed more mining fields. * Cloak not working very well - many mobs see through it, gets interrupted too often, takes too long to activate. * Weapons not firing correctly - everything that's been mentioned in previous posts. * Shield Leach - add a cool down timer to the icon if possible * Buff window disappears when you gate
  9. The devs wanted to know where the rough spots are? Well, JE mining is one of them. When I find fields I can mine there are mobs that are too high level patrolling them. Level 30 manes patrolling tech level 2 fields is a bit much. I can't even grind out lower level fields without getting blasted to bits. Getting to EL 25 (currently EL17) looks daunting right now to say the least. I played Westwood Beta through Live as a JE and there was never this big a problem gaining exploring experience. Mining was still a chore but it was feasible. In Live we had job terminals and that played to one of the few strengths of a JE which was WH. JE is a challenging class to play but the current setup in ST4 needs some tweaking for a JE to gain explore levels. My suggestions - Tone down the mobs patrolling the fields. Increase the spawn of asteroids and gas fields (both re-spawn rate and number of fields). Better device bufs for JE prospecting (improved range, speed, energy consumption).
  10. From my experience in ST4, getting a JE to OL 32 was a bit frustrating - Because you can fly to a mining area and it is empty and you wait who knows how long for it to re-spawn. Because the mining exp is very low rate of return versus killing or trading, especially without resources re-spawning more reasonably. Because of two other problems but I understand they are bugs and being worked on. My suggestions - Have individual resources continually re-spawn instead of waiting for them all to be mined. Decrease the time between spawns. Improve cloak and reduce ship signature so a JE can better play cat and mouse with the mobs roaming the resource fields. And do the same dance when attempting a JS with mobs around. When you get right down to it, it is getting to the asteroid or the dead ship amongst the mobs that turns boredom into excitement. Give me good working tools to attempt those two jobs when danger is present. Improve the turning rate of JE ship. A JE can do combat. For me it was an even better dance in Live than asteroids but can use better maneuver ability. Add exploration missions where a JE's cloak, and perhaps fold space, come into play. If I'm an explorer then I should be out exploring and finding things - in dangerous places (but give us good working tools for it).

  13. When I click the 'play' button I got an error that Libeay32.dll is not a valid windows image. I saw an earlier post in the forum about this and the suggestion was to remove the dll from the net7\bin folder (assuming that \system32 had a valid dll). I did that and now I get the error that 'The ordinal 3109 could not be located in the dynamic link library libeay32.dll' Any suggestions? Update - I searched and found several different flavors of LIBEAY32.DLL and found one that worked when I copied it into the \net7\bin folder.

  15. When E&B closed down, ebportal made a zipfile available (ebportal_story_release.rar 24.6MB) which included concept graphics, histories, timeline and storyline steps. It looks like original files that the dev team used. I searched this site and saw no mention of it. I have the rar file that they released if anyone is interested.
