  1. Cherry picking is usually an issue with Hulks from what I have seen. Oh, and long time no see to most of you here :) Yay for real life making me do stuff.   But anyways, here's a fun thought meant to target Pickers who use timers for logging in (since thats the biggest annoyance, I don't mind proper competition though). Reset the respawn timer of the roids in a field once the field is cleared based off of the last roid/hulk that gets cleaned out completely. Why do I say this? Well, it'll throw the timing of the whole thing off completely, spawn timers will end up becoming rather random by the very nature of this.   Well, thats my final two cents worth on this. Have fun cherry picking or not.
  2. Okay, I'll bite. There is a lot more to this game, and any game really, than end game raiding. If, for you, End Game content is what makes a game worth playing, perhaps you are looking in the wrong place. Earth and Beyond Emulator is not only not finished yet (though stable and usable by virtually anyone), it is based around a game that has a lot of content just to explore and seek stuff. So, you don't get the chance for Zet drops right off the bat. Big deal. Let the "big guilds" have their fun, members will get bored and move on to other things, which will open up opportunity for you. Or, perhaps, you can find enough frustrated players and forge a solid alliance "read Guild" with them to level the playing field.   So, the big three want to watch you prove you can down a boss so they don't step in and take it? Last I checked that was still Kill Stealing, unless you give them permission. And no, you're not giving them permission just by attempting raids. Read between the lines on this :)   This will be my only input here. Until next time, keep up the good work EnB Dev crew.
  3. You know, time and again, I think the heart of the matter is often forgotten. When we something we don't like in the game, or want to be helpful about something or another, we make a SUGGESTION. Why did I caps Suggestion? Simple. That's because it is only that. Nowhere is it set in stone that any and all Suggestions will be implemented without proper constructive feedback, or if the server will allow for it because maybe it can change or break something else somewhere that we don't know about.   Is it okay to feel a bit hurt a suggestion wasn't taken up? Certainly, its only a natural human reaction. To say people suck or don't know how to listen to good ideas, however, is not the way to go about getting yourself heard. I'm not a Dev, but even I will ignore you for being like this. There are proper channels to go through in regards to suggestions for content, and please...be prepared to defend your ideas because people will pick them apart. Don't say "Well because so and so said it would work, that's why", be concrete. If you don't know, say so. I work in a job that deals with the public and also deals with a lot of very smart people. If you can truthfully tell someone you don't know and come off as honest about it good and intelligent people will respect that (sometimes they will even help you find out why it will or will not work). You can discard the rest.   I agree with Kyp in an earlier post (I can't remember where I saw it, it's too late for me to go look anyways). The last thing this game and forum needs is a bickering fight over how content is managed or how Forums are Moderated. You'll destroy the community far more quickly that way.   So, for those TL;DR people, here's the summary; Suggestions are just that. Suggestions. If you make one, be prepared to defend it against criticism. And no one said that Suggestions were the changed that WILL be made.   I've said my piece on this subject.
  4. The KDA is open and welcomes any and all Role Players/Pilots for Hire. We are more or less simply a gathering place for Role Players to be so we can see who is online and just shoot the breeze with one another as we plan events and the like. Role Playing in Guild channel is also not discouraged. If you are interested just message me in game on any of my signature toons and I will invite you in.       EDIT 06/17/2013: It would seem that due to other factors (real life) I have not been as active in Emu as I would like. I won't be recruiting anyone for the time being. I will make sure everyone knows when this changes though.
  5. I'm gonna butt in here a sec. I only recently came back to Net-7 to play EnB. I was in ST4 for a bit and it was far buggier than the game we have now. I find some mob grouping and pathing to be a bit wonky but that's it for now really. I mean the Devs have done an immensely amazing job of putting this together, and if they take it in a new direction I'll still keep playing because its put together pretty well.   Now, lets put this into perspective. Kyp does not have a a Development studio. If he did, he would probably have redone the entire game engine while preserving the aspects we like and so on. In fact, this is a volunteer team, kind of like the Science Club at a school trying to make an electric car. Will they make it work? Absolutely. Is it going to be the crazy Karma? Nope, but it will work damnit, for all of its flaws they have done an amazing job and with what they learn from the project they can then improve upon it.   As for the Devs being in contact with us players, that is what the Advocate is for. They are there to make sure the Devs don't have to keep trolling the forums for activity and take them away from development and production time. Despite the fact that Kyp and Team is a group of volunteers they do have schedules for certain things from what I understand. Are these schedules met? Depends on how much we bitch about stuff being broken that may or may not be broken. How can we find out if something is really broken? Report it via bug tracker, and/or as the Advocate. That is what they are there for. This was we don't cut into what schedules the team has and we can keep playing with whatever knowledge we are supplied with.   This is how I see things here, and that's fine by me. At the end of the day I am still playing a game I enjoy.
  6. I haven't played a TT since live, but what I do remember is that L9 Engines is a definite bonus for them as you can get some with excellent passives. I'll have to go through the Database again and see what engines there are, but I do definitely recall there being some rather useful ones for a TT.   EDIT: Okay, yeah. Its the Intent for the Resolute. Not too sure if its in game, but it has a huge boost to reactor regen with Shunt to Reactor (-23.0 regen shields for +23.0 regen to reactor) but also has a +45% boost to shield regen which should more than make up for the loss.
  7. It just struck me that I was also known as Rathsacae in Guardians of Capella. There's  name I haven't used in ages....
  8. Time for my two cents on this again. The field guards are actually fine, I've found. Legitimate players have managed to work with what we have and the DEVs tones down the guards so that we have more chance of success than a snowball. Some fields may need a bit of minor tweaking, but all in all its good as it is. My TS has yet to come across a field she can't clear even with the Guards around. Just kill them and move on usually.
  9. Activated Raids this, Activated Raids that... I know where you are coming from Klyde, and I am sure that there are many who share the same standpoint. However we already were given an answer to this, and that answer is no. As crummy as that may be (I agree activated raids would eliminate drama) but in many senses I have to say I agree with the Devs on why they are not changing it. The Raids don't create the drama, people do. People create the Drama because they fail to communicate somewhere along the line and they feel their needs or wants not being heard. This whole raid thing reminds me of a saying I read once:   "A person is more concerned with things that happen to them or effect them than they are with events that may be effecting someone else. The average person cares more about the paper-cut on their finger than they do the starving children in Africa."   Its something I think we all should keep in mind. No the comment is not verbatim, I would need to flip through one of Dale Carnegie's books to find it again but the meaning is still the same. Anyways, honestly I think the Raid Adjustment discussion is closed as far as I am concerned. This will be the last I have to say on the subject for quite some time I think. Let the DEVs do their thing, they've been doing a great job as it is. If Raids become an issue effecting the Server itself in terms of stability or population or whatnot, I am sure they will think of something when the time comes for it. Until then, just enjoy the game and lets see what comes out next in terms of content.
  10. If I had to pick between new content and current raids, I'd say screw the raids and go for the content. Why? Because the raids really do work as intended so far, according to the Devs. Its really always been up to the player base to figure this stuff out and you know you will get people like me who just don't care for raiding. Gimme places to explore and different things to do, each with their own curious rewards. Raiding is not the sole purpose of the game imho, never was. It was simply an additional facet to it. Sure, I added in ideas of how to look at this current rading "issue", but you know what? The Big Three have so far come to a agreement as far as I know. Leave it at that and move on. There's far more space left to discover, so lets give the Devs the time they need to give us that and not focus on this human created problem.   Thanks for your consideration and time :)
  11. Hulk fields are great finds but as Efialtis said, they were a quick source of credits and gear. Even toned down, they are still a nice nugget, you simply need to work more for it now.
  12. I vote for locking this thread. It would seem the Big 3 seem to have an uneasy pact in the works, and nay questions and discussion about what is going on between them should really now be done in private chat as far as I'm concerned. People who've needed to vent seem to have done so.
  13. If you make a Builder List public, you can find out who can build something by searching for it in the DB. At least thats what I noticed.
  14. Okay, time to throw a wrench into the works here. So, we have a possible four spawn rotation, and now lets assume we now have four big raiding Guilds. And all of a sudden two more Guilds big enough to Raid and with enough Tech to do so come into the scene. What then? I don't know the spawn timers of these mobs overly well, since as anyone who can see will know I am not anywhere near raiding ready. However, really consider what it is I am saying here. If a mob spawns three times a week, that's ROUGHLY 12 spawns a month. If you have 12 Raiding Guilds, would each Guild in this Rotation really settle for Raiding that mob once a Month? Somehow I doubt this, especially since if this rotation system is introduced and the big three decide on who gets put into it, those extra Eight Guilds would be at their mercy. I don't see that as being a positive thing.   No, I'm not Guilded, and if I ever decide to actually Raid, I probably would find one of the Big Three to join if this becomes the accepted system simply because there would be no other way TO Raid.
  15. I like the way this server works out Build Quality chances, I'll be honest right off the bat but if people feel the need to have it changed this is what I would do if anyone really cares to hear my two credits worth on this subject. You could go with what the poster above me said and also restrict the improvements to be within that Build category as well. Building level 2 Weapons should effect only weapons, not engines. I mean sure, some of the methods of construction between these two would be akin to one another. But lets face it, if this is all such a huge deal to "fix" then that would be the route I'd go. Sure it would mean building a lot more stuff at higher level, but it would be rewarding when you can finally make that 200% L9 Beam/PL/ML   I do remember on Live getting the 196 - 200% builds of gear at the same Build Level you're actually on was much easier, and it did seem to play a bit off your Trade level some but as I said at the start of my post, I have no issues with the way things are right now.
  16. I am by no means an expert at coding, but here's a thought. If Raiding is such a major part of the game for some people, why not create four Gates that can only be opened by use of a device. Inside those gates is a RANDOM raid encounter. Each Gate would link to a separate sector of Space, and the device can only be made by a Guild Leader (I know, it sucks for Guilds who have Inactive Leaders but due to the recent emphasis on finding out who a Founder and next in line is...) once every three to four days. These devices can open the gates within 48 hours of the last time a boss inside was killed. Having all four on Independent Timers and zones would mean there would be a lot of flexibility, plus as stated the Raid mob spawn would also be RANDOM. There cannot already be a Raid Boss spawned and active in the joined sector, as I'm sure it can be coded so that the Raid itself starts ten minutes after the gate is opened. I'm sure there would be some Mechanics challenges to be addressed, but the way I see it, the Spawn is not predictable and the gates can each only be opened once every 24 hours, so it would prevent a lot of issues regarding the really rare stuff from becoming Common (and some loot drops would need to be adjusted as seen fit). To build the Gate device, which would be a one time use and needs to be rebuilt, would probably require a great deal of effort as well but it would be doable by any Guild with at least 20 people. If they need more manpower, Pugs are useful for that. Anyways, that's my two cents on this whole thing. I would just like to see the big three stop bickering because frankly its like watching three bullies argue over who is king of the sand box, scaring everyone else (new comers to the server) away.
  17. Well I've been enjoying it when I get the chance, but the channel is always stupidly quiet. Still, its a nice addition :D
  18. Well considering Traders trade, why not look into setting up Trader specific missions that require they load up on goodies, take them to location X, deliver them, then take another shipment to location Z, and then return to their starting point to hand in. All the while, these locations would probably have SOME combat involved, like pirates wanting the wares or rival corporations wanting to steal the technology etc etc. In doing so, it keeps these missions from being a walk in the park (ideally, but we know some people can over-level and sneeze at stuff like this and win). Rewards? Probably high volumes of Trade XP and Cash, perhaps gear as well.   All this being said, and I don't even play my one Trader class.... Poor Xitan, my Progen Privateer.
  19. Disclaimer: I recognize the below statement may not make a whole lot of sense when read at first, but it makes sense in my head. Should anyone actually be interested in knowing how I have connected these dots in my mind, feel free to ask.   The TS, of course, does need some content loving for sure. The Bogeril are primarily Earth Corps and Infiniti Corps problem however, since both sides screwed them really badly. GetCo might actually have a leg up in that situation, perhaps being able to run specific TS only missions that involve aiding the Bogeril. Think of it like the Jenquai and Red Dragons. Not all Jenquai are friendly with the RD, but the JD's have solid faction with them. I know for one in the original Retail version, DeWinter was going to die. The plots surrounding Infiniti Corp were immense, and without a doubt her greed for Corporate domination didn't even bother bordering on Villainy, it blew past that border so fast its not even funny. Saying that a plot between the Hyperia Explorers and Infiniti Corp being at odds with one another is not an impossibility. Hyperia is being funded by GetCo, for one, and we all know Infiniti hates GetCo and will do whatever they can to keep GetCo as their little subservient lapdog. A plot, then, involving work from the Bogeril that somehow leads the Hyperia Explorers to realize exactly how deep this problem with DeWinter and Infiniti runs is not something that could come clean out of left field. That plot would also really shed the light on some of the events that are going on in the background with the Terrans. And above all else, it would supply the Terran Scouts something that is unique to them.   On a side note, however, if you really need credits for ammo. There is a repeatable quest in the TS start area for harvesting materials for the Station. It pays okay and gives explore and trade XP on each hand in. Just need 20 Iron and 20 Oxygen.
  20. Alphie says:" Be Surtian you're Alphan, consume only genuine Alpha Surti agro products!"          This message brought to you by the A.lpha S.urti P.roducts ministry. ASP your aSurtiy of quality.       I had to...
  21. Just a shout out to anyone who may have come to the EMU who used to be on Pegasus from GoC. You may or may not remember me, I was in that Guild as Daevus, brought in by Waracid (to this day one of the nicest MMO players I ever met).
  22. I'm going to agree with Mattsacre on this. From what I understand, and I've been reading this thread a fair bit to make sure I'm not misrepresenting anything, the Device people are complaining about was added by the EMU Devs and was never actually intended to exist in Old Live. I get that people are upset for having spent the time to get the item, trading away something you could have given to another class that may have been able to use it and ended up actually getting stuck with something you can't even give away if you wanted to, all for the same Turbo buff (though I think the CVE has an extra buff of some sort on it if I recall right from other posts). Okay, so I get that part.   Now, what I don't get is how people seem to think that items like this can be easily tested on a super small population test server before being rolled out into live. You just do NOT have the right volume of metrics to measure on that scale. Funny, if you think about it, how many major MMO's often release something new and exciting, and then two or three patches later nerf it because its just too much SOMETHING. EMU is not immune to this, it has a lot to do with the scale of the user base on testing server as well as how it actually functions when used all the time by what seems to be a rather large volume of players actually.   I think its normal for people to get upset when something is nerfed, but its usually only the people who got it first and desire the elitist status (and no, I don't blame you for that we all want bragging rights believe me I know). As anyone can see in my Sigs, I am nowhere near the levels to get a CVE and then run these missions to get the Waking Nightmare. So you know what? Since I never had the 20% Nightmare, I actually won't complain. Why? Because I don't care what it WAS like, I care what it IS like now and the fact I can use it on any of my Toons (should I wish to go for it more than once), not just a select few.
  23. I'd hug you for that, but all I end up doing is hugging my monitor instead :/ Thanks Zackman!   EDIT: It might have helped to ask how one accesses this channel though, as I cannot locate it by any normal means. I know its not a checkbox though, you've said as much Zackman.
  24. Ahh, the memories of Pegalag server. I flew with Guardians of Capella right up to Sunset Accounce, name on Pegasus was Daevus.
  25. Maybe its just me, but I haven't seen much of an improvement from Damage Control in terms of what kinds of damage my Hull can soak up.
