  1. Have you tried just adding teh game client? I can't say that it's ever occurred to us or been asked of us since I've been involved. I also have steam though so perhaps when some other things are solved we can look into that.
  2. Two things to check for in terms of the dlls. 1) You have .NET 2.0 or better installed. 2) You have VisualC++ Redistributable 2008 installed. Both are Microsoft products and are required to successfully run the game and emulator. After that, the previous individual is correct you should run EBConfig in the game's directory/ebconfig as an administrator if you're on Windows Vista or Windows 7 as it writes your new settings to the registry and you can't do this as a standard admin on a system with User Account Control, you must elevate. The purpose of User account Control is to run your admin user as a "partial admin" so that any changes to system files, program files, user data files, or registry files require full administration privileges and teh system must then notify you to ask if it's ok. (the annoying dim screen and Yes/no box). If you run without admin, User Account Control will prevent the changes and not say a word. (This sounds like what you're experiencing.) If your account is not the computer admin or authorized to be the admin you can right click or shift right click the shortcut for ebconfig and there should be an option for "Run As Administrator" there. If you're still receiving errors after that, let us know what they say when you attempt to launch ebconfig. Hope that helps.
  3. I can tell you that we do not install any file by that name onto your system for you to use the Net7 software, nor does the client.
  4. Alas it cannot just copy though it can be changed, and it probably will in time. It's just a low-priority kinda thing, being really only cosmetic when there's so much else to add.
  5. Yes but I'm only responding in favor of the one that "came with the August patch" as indicated by earlier comments.
  6. That may very well be, and something that went in could have been a catalyst, but what he's saying is "underlying cause" not this patch material. Something else is causing it, don't fixate on the patch because even with it removed, that lag still occurs.
  7. As tienbau said we already attempted undoing this revision (The August patch) and it still persists.
  8. I'd say 42, but I guess it depends on what die are included with your attack rolls. ;P
  9. Anyone with the technologies I mentioned above are useful to help things move along faster. I am mostly looking for creative minds that are willing to do the work. There's a lot of writing that needs doing, lots of listing, and even simply listening to various NPC recordings and cataloging their speech. (It is one of my next projects actually). There's lots we could give to do, the problem is finding someone willing to do the work for it. Many people don't like to write, it'd probably help if you like to write and draw up documents.
  10. Right, because anyone would jump into the creation of a mission or a story without doing some research, I like the logic. Unfortunately, it wouldn't apply to me. Instead, what you would see are missions regarding topics I already knew whilst I studied the topics I'm not entirely familiar with. I don't rush content. You make the assumption that all that knowledge would be put into use in my first mission, besides, I wouldn't send Terrans to learn to build something from a jenquai unless I WAS letting them have Build Reactor for some off the wall reason since to be good at it, they'd need to learn from those who already are.
  11. Well, ya know. I care about Terrans. I don't really have many interactions with the Jenquai yet as most of the major content stuff that's done is in our home areas as we plan to expand from there.. I thought it was shields to be honest but wasn't for sure. It's not something i need to have in mind to design anything for story interactions between them since we've not begun on re-balancing anything really, as of yet. We're putting it back as a baseline, then we'll go through and run a lot of numbers and determine what's good to fix and what's not. I am the Terran lead indeed. Now, with your imminent knowledge of the innards of the game, or rather your capabilities within creating it at the moment, tell me why you think I need to know about that or use it on a daily basis. I am interested in how you determine this to be a flaw in ability.
  12. Who knows we may consider that in the future, for the time being we haven't been looking at anything new. We may do that as we go. For now all is grand, mostly if anything we might start looking for new talent to bolster our ranks. People who can keep quiet and have a desire to be part of making the game rather than just playing. You have to be willing to do your part of the work (there's plenty to do!) and follow all the rules given in the code of conduct document. In fact, I'd probably like to pick up some. If anyone would be interested, send me a 250 word description of what you think makes yourself a good addition to the Terran content staff and any experience you have technicially (SQL, XML, C# or something else. It's all pretty useful, or any kind of story experience (even pieces you'd like to submit as an example)
  13. eh, we receive enough from our wonderful contributors to pay the bills, admittedly not always enough to buy new things to make life easier for creating the game but you can't have your cake and eat it too. If the donations ever slacked enough we could resort to advertisement and other means as an option rather than overtly asking. We are satisfied with what's given, everyone wants the game back and we're here to make it happen. We'd all love to get paid and do this for a living I'm sure, but there's no way the player base could afford such a thing. Thanks for the suggestion though, its nice to see someone thinking about us.
  14. Why oh why would we break from the storyline? There'd have to be a good case made for that, not just a desire for it. I don't allow Terrans to have build reactors because they suck at energy management, therefore even if they could make reactors, those reactors would be terrible. That is their defined weakness as originally designed. Progen can't make engines (I believe) and they are terribly slow but are capable of packing quite a punch... when they get there. I forget what it is Jenquai can't build right off hand but I'm sure it's related to their racial weakness as well.
  15. Aha, but if you're not used to living off the land, total computer network failure for the government (aka a firesale) would result in life as everyone knows it, ceasing.. since nothing in the outside world would function normally, at least temporarily) Everything in this day and age just about is powered by a computer somewhere along the line. Granted this isn't likely, but this virus is nasty enough to really make it a significant threat.. especially if someone manages to get all the code and change it to make it self-replicate. Then we could be looking at a Skynet
  16. Excuse me, say that again? That's right, that's what I thought too... dangerous stuff. I encountered this at work, indirectly of course, our systems weren't affected, thankfully. In any case, an interesting concept if indeed a very very dangerous one. This takes the concept of the "firesale" mentioned in a few movies (most recently I think, the last die hard movie). I'm not one to provoke such thoughts on people, but this is one thing that we really need to be wary of, since it could cause devastation for any country's respective militaries and could lead to destruction and chaos. Really not things most people want to think about, especially with many in America constantly talking about terrorism a lot of people are tired of hearing it. I'm usually one of them, because I'm not scared of that. However, I am scared of the concept of bringing computer networks down around our ears since it could inhibit so many other things, such as many of the things we all take for granted (especially here in America). anyway, I just thought i'd "share with the class" and see if anyone else had heard or read anything about this. And as much as I loathe to use a blog as a source, this is a computer security blog that also discusses the concept, it predates this confirmed virus though. CSO Online - Firesale
  17. recommendation: disable "Compatibility mode" it causes hell with these forums with whitespace and other oddities. It's what was causing Dakynos's posts to appear as giant whitespaces because the moderator group had an extra <span> tag in the section that made their title change color.
  18. is working on Terran content.

  19. It is being rebooted.
  20. Basically, items are really Riia's domain, but we intend to do some stuff to make them more viable. As a frame of reference in live, the difference was high level engines were much better in terms of stats. You were faster in every way, the downside is you might as well have had your own personal nav beacon on the ship since you could draw enemies from miles around. Most people could get up to the warp cap with lower level engines, and thus they didn't care to spend more points on other skills but not everyone did that. I remember taking engine tech to IX on every toon. In any case, we want to do something to make engines worthwhile, hopefully that doesn't mean doing any weakening but instead adding buffs. However, i can't speak for everyone. We'll look into it when it comes time, we'll do our best to avoid reducing effectiveness but I can't promise that everything will remain 100% the same. To say it now before we've even begun to run numbers would be a lie.
  21. All I can say is "Don't hold your breath." To give them reactors I'd have to nerf them in several other ways, no thanks. It may not be the most optimal build skill to have engines, but it is a racial specialty. Also, keep in mind that the higher grade engines will be a lot more useful by the time we get to "live" again. There won't be any more of this taking engine tech to IV Or V and it being good enough for end-game... at least not unless you want to gimp yourself before you ever get started.
  22. Yeah, if at all possible and you could capture a short moving showing the effect you're seeing one of the forum admins may be able to assist. I don't see it either.
  23. It was just left there and never removed by the last person who touched it I am guessing.
  24. When I say PM I meant the forum private message function. However, yes, I am Kyp on the server as well.
