  1. Aye, default status until you click that link in the game account e-mail.
  2. Yes, this is correct. If you don't like playing with the registry, I've attached the file. This is for 64-bit OS only. The 32 bit should not require any modification.
  3. Here you go, Adobe Reader This will enable you to open any PDF.
  4. This is indeed the reason the Board wanted that Portal to be created for us. So we could provide communication for everyone on a more timely basis. Kyp
  5. This is what our new portal is for, once we make it available to everyone.
  6. Snagged it one day while I was looking at some humorous pictures. I don't even remember where, it's been over a year ago, but I was looking for signs on google image I believe.

  7. We haven't begun balancing yet, for the most part. We're still getting all the systems online, then we will go through a balance pass making sure there's plenty of trade, explore, and combat to do to keep everyone busy as well as balancing damage versus mobs and that sort of thing. Whereas the roids are concerned, I will add it to the list, but it most definitely won't be an immediate thing. We are actually going to do something in terms of communication. We realized based off a lot of threads that people are feeling this way. Please note that due to the nature of the project and that we're not all here, all the time that we can't necessarily immediately tell you why the server is down. Only those of us who do the programming can debug and restart it. If we just restart willy nilly, then we never get anywhere towards live. I know it sucks to be without the game for a bit, but look at it from another perspective. What's 12 hours if you've already waited 5 years? In regards to major systems, we're working on the final steps of code for the Job terminal system. I can't give an exact timeframe yet, but just take the word Soon™ in typical DEV fashion:P;) Kyp
  8. What many people fail to realize when they make a post like this, is that we could always go back to a closed test meaning everyone would be back to salivating over the forums for news! (unless they were one of the lucky selected ones) The entire point of stress tests were to connect many many clients to it as possible and let you play with many of the major systems so we could expand the player cap as high as possible to run the game. We've learned a lot in this time we've been running stresses, and it's enabled us to get plenty of feedback on expanding the game. Without these tests it would have taken us years to increase the caps as high as we have. Now with that in mind, there will be wipes as often as we feel that we need them, or when whim strikes us to do them It's nothing personal to anyone, and some may get upset about repeating stuff, but we could always cap your levels instead. That would be far more boring, I imagine. If you could only get 10 levels before you were stuck and had to make a new character. We learn more every day, we expand more every day, and eventually this game will be live and we'll start and advance the story line and barring huge systematic problems there'll never be another wipe again! On that note, this thread is a bit of flame bait, so I'm going to close it down. We do appreciate the support from everyone who does support us. Kyp
  9. This stuff is not necessarily finalized at this moment guys, most of the balancing hasn't been done, we've just got the systems working. Terrans will have 5 more cargo slots on every class than the counterparts of other races. That's part of being a part-trader. This will not change.
  10. The code of conduct posted as an announcement over all forums (at the top, by me) are "the rules", the GM rules are a subset of those, if they conflict with the overall code of conduct, then the overall code of conduct trumps them because they were drafted and implemented by the Board of Directors of the Net-7 Entertainment group. I don't think we covered anything about naming rules in them though. In regards to the earlier post about beta testers "exploiting" bugs, as long as they are doing so for testing to tell us how it works, that's fine. If they start using them for their own purposes, then they have crossed the line and would be dealt with by the Beta Director.
  11. 1. Variable, depending on finalizing new systems as we actually bring them online for you. 2. Not committing to a date here yet. Sorry. 3. Probably not, but beta (once we get there) accounts might, depending on circumstance. I don't mean beta testers though, to clarify 4. Nope. 5. Maybe?
  12. Haha, well perhaps we could look at another option too!
  13. Does it currently say in the EuLA that players are not allowed to use numbers in their names? Personally I'd think it to be in bad taste but then I've played games where joe25590 was the common theme, and it just really kills immersion into the game. The P-#### is a Psi construct used by InfinitiCorp for "naming" the psis. Basically like the department of corrections in your local municipality or state assigns a number to you after you go to jail. I suppose if I could have the problem presented that it causes for the GMs to use this something might change, but I don't necessarily understand. Are there players that want to use numbers in their names? If so why? This in my opinion would lead to impersonation, whereas for the GMs its used simply to allow them anonymity to do their jobs and not be harassed by players about their problems when they're not doing the GM thing.
  14. I'd daresay it was related to some of those repeatable quests that I've fixed since, we were giving large rewards after we implemented the "live" xp curve from the original guesstimation that we had when we started.
  15. I will discuss the first part with the team, as to the second yes, that's one of the primary reasons for what's going on. The new machine is a hoss, dual quad-core (that's right... 8) and roughly 16 gigs of ram. It should make for a much better playing experience for everyone.
  16. require is the wrong word, it doesn't require us to do it, we want to do it because that database has changed many many times and we want to force all data to be uniform. This is one way (albeit a ham-handed way) to ensure that it does so most directly.
  17. It's organized nowadays a lil more. So yes, you must pick a team to work for. You can transfer later with team lead permission but we're controlling all that now. I'm the Terran Lead, Kenu is the Jenquai Lead, Freak is the Progen Lead, and Cookoo is the Independent lead. We all have designated regions of space that belong to us, and our developers work in those areas on various projects. I'd give a full list of the team but because my main machine is still down, I can't yet. What do you know the most about story wise? That's probably a good place to start.
  18. You're right, wording is everything. Since the CoC is a product of the Board, it trumps all other rule sets. I'll change the EULA once I get my machine running again.
  19. Sorry bout not grabbing your name, I just copied this when I read the text: We were actually talking about doing something like this for a stress release sometime soon. If it's got enough interest, it'd probably be an FPS game, since those are generally the easiest to take out your frustrations in. To those talking about the permissions, and an account wipe. The reason we discussed a full wipe like this for the next time we do it is because there are grandfathered accounts that do not match the current password hash system and we do have a time/date of last login, but we'll still probably do this anyway due to the nature and reason for that wipe to occur.
  20. The CoC by definition tells you that if you log onto any of Net-7 Entertainment's systems, you're agreeing to it implicitly. If someone doesn't read the rules, well that's on them, when they violate them it doesn't serve as an excuse. Of course, I do not know to what abuse you're referring to when you're saying GMs broke rules. What rules did they break? How so? Explain further, you can do so in a PM if you wish.
  21. an even better one is /wormhole "sector name"
  22. To clarify on this "voodoo magic" all actions in game go into what amounts to a merry-go-round with numbered slots (a very very very large, numbered merry-go-round) and it drops off each update as it passes. That's the easiest way I could describe to you on how it works. (For the tech heads, it's a threaded queue) It does this to avoid trying to change everything immediately. If we allowed everything to change in real time, it would cause massive lag for everyone. Do you want that? Now, with that said, it does not cause corruption for the values to be changed while a player is logged in, but your user data is initialized from that data when you log in. Thus the reason GMs must tell you to log out and back in after they make a change on your toon. We are almost guaranteed not to implement this suggestion because it would be wasted work when the skill can just be implemented when it's time. Yes it may not be fun to grind or now, but because of the stage we want to focus on things like getting major systems working (this does include the skill but it'll be some time because there ARE higher priority issues, like I mentioned in another thread: Jobs) Please be patient with us while everything gets set back up. I will discuss it with everyone else to perhaps open up some more communication as that seems to be a priority from a lot of these posts. You're not going to get instant information, but you might see some changes here soon. We'll look at what we can do to improve our communication with everyone.
  23. If every last person could be trusted to fully describe their issue (and search to make sure it doesn't exist already) we would probably leave mantis more open for example. The simple fact is, the majority while professing that they would/currently do so, when we left it open we got simple threads that didn't describe an issue thoroughly. What we need to know is HOW you went about doing something step by step and what your expectations were as well as what actually happened. Chances are, if a ticket you write is less than 250 words (being very lenient), you didn't describe enough to help. This is part of the reason we do a bit of our own testing, but then again as organization has come together the beta team has properly formed under its own lead and things are beginning to progress. There are several things coming down the pipes, but right now we're trying to make sure most of the major systems from live are there (for example, Jobs) How would people feel on the idea of having a bi-weekly content feature of some kind? Many of us don't have a huge amount of time or are having to work extra for other reasons (me for example, to afford continuing college as well as an internship I have to get done with a professional game design firm) Kyp
