  1. But to the point made - how would the "randomness" of the quality be addressed. Comps and ammo are easy - PM = 200% quality. But in the case of, say, those 20 Oguns (and assuming a lvl of Ogun and a lvl of Build skill where there IS some randomness in quality) how would this be done? Would the proverbial "dice roll" be for each individual Ogun as the term builds them (seems unlikely) or for the whole "stack" of 20? If the latter one needn't to fast-forward very far in imagination to hear player cries like "WTF??? I just made 20 Oguns and they came out 138%??? This is <fill in the rest of the rant here>". I mean if this is all covered and I'm overthinking it, fine. Just agreeing with the notion that the biggest need for a make multiple stacks function has always been, in order, ammo then comps and then anything else (with anything else dropping way down the importance list, IMO).
  2. I think you mean the Pentium 5 (which clocked at 60 MHz initially, so easily interchangeable). Yeah, that one really put a lot of egg on Intel's corporate face. I have a Hollerith card sitting right here on my desk; I'm probably one of the few around this shop that ever actually used these for anything other than a bookmarker. "Back in the day" (typical code for "I'm old) when I was in junior high, living at the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, my (Marine) Scoutmaster would let me tag along when he had to work weekends on the computer running CincLantFleet. I was already pretty geeky (shelled out over $70 - in 1970's money!! - for a TI calculator) but I think being around that sucker pushed me over the edge. Just a few years left until I join that increasingly large crowd of retired mainframe techs. Yeehaw!
  3. Wow, I'm sure you could have been more offensive if you'd only had the time.
  4. Err, the entire forum crashed and burned and was rebuilt from scratch . . . and you say it's hardly changed?
  5. Please don't take this the wrong way, but honestly you must not have looked very hard. Yes, there have been many discussions on the topics you list - and, IMO, it would be much better to continue those discussions in the existing threads rather than try to start a whole new one here.
  6. When you woke up was Sonny and Cher playing on your clock radio?
  7. It's always a balance between time spent and XP earned. At lower levels it's possible to receive max XP for relatively short trade routes. As your TL increases you need successively longer routes to continue to receive the max available XP per item. I assume when you say L30 TE that's your OL, not your TL, and further SWAG your TL then to be somewhere around 10. You are probably pretty close to doing the Somerled-Prasad Spice run, which will provide a predictable (though boring, but all trade runs are) maximum XP reward for quite some time. *IF* you have or care to get RD faction so that the BBW gates are open to you then the Somerled-Fenris run will become quite attractive - otherwise it's a very long haul. Since the introduction of Jobs I'd suggest doing a bunch of Somerled-Prasad runs initially to quickly build up TL then test the waters of Trade Jobs - which also provide Explore XP as well. Handy to have access to a JE with WH for these.
  8. I'm playing it on a Thinkpad T60 - and before that played it on a T40 (old!) - and it works just fine. Remember this is a rather old game which didn't have very demanding graphics requirements when it was new. If you have a PC that still runs and connects to the Internet the odds are quite good that it's "powerful" enough to easily run EnB.
  9. I recall paying the ransom and STILL being ganked, lol. But I echo the sentiment for the return of the ambushes - I admit to having a carebear heart but always felt that was a fun aspect of the game.
  10. Yikes, looks like it's my turn. Blizzard warning starting on Tuesday - maybe 18" of snow between Tues aft and Weds. Keep that server up, please don't make go outside and shovel!
  11. Austin is awesome . . . except for that cow college Hop, skip and a jump from some of the best BBQ in the world . . . and Junior Brown playin' on Sunday nights at the Continental Club.
  12. Yeah, my sister lives in Greenville. Considerably more fozen precip this year than is normal - but she sent me great videos of her dog playing in the snow.
  13. I've seen very entertaining videos of drivers skidding all over iced-up TX roads and slamming into things. Up here we have this thing called "salt" that gets laid down on the roads to prevent that. Down there, apparently, you prefer to spend $$$ on repairs instead. Oh, and the hurricanes - they seem like fun, too. And the flooding - remember when the Astro's were rained out - in the ASTRODOME? Point is, wherever you are, there's always something that can happen. Nobody can beat Mother Nature.
  14. Just a note to say how much I really appreciate all the effort you put into this Slayer. Thanks.
  15. I am similarly conflicted. As a Bears fan I'm not predisposed to cheer for the Pack, but I do like the fact that they are from the NFC Central, errr, North. I liked the Steel Curtain back in the day but agree on the douchieness of Rothlisberger. However, here's something to consider . . . Steelers fans grow up as Steelers fans. Packers fans, on the other hand, need to be forced to be Packers fans: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/packers/2008-01-16-father-arrested_N.htm
  16. Whoa, slow down, fishing season doesn't open up for a while yet up here - way too early to go trolling!
  17. I totally respect the right of a parent to decide what they want their children to hear - or not hear. But I have to echo Phorlaug's question - what in those ad's is the objectionable content? Is it just the tone? Just curious.
  18. LOL they can get it when they turn in to Terran Scouts.
  19. I would be very happy to be able to sort in this manner. If this was available then I wouldn't have any need to change the timer, especially if it's there to guard against the "save" problem - I'm OK with erring on the side of caution as the whole timer thing becomes moot with the introduction of the slash commands.
  20. +INFINITY I could swear that such an option existed in Live - I personally use and like sort but prefer "by category" and the current method requires many sorts (and waits) to complete.
