1. Minimum level requirements is fine. Maximum level requirements is not fine. I do not agree with content being added that is exclusionary by maximum level. It would be a happy day if the barriers were removed on Agrippa content.
2. Disgusting but efficient, me likes.
3. I wish to suggest and recommend a modification to the portal account vault transfer screen. Under: Account -> Account Vault There are 12 boxes to move items from the vault of one character on the account to another character on the same account. Each character is identified through a drop down selection list box. If Account -> Master Account Settings -> A-Z Avatar List is On then can the character names listed in the from and to list boxes be listed in A-Z alphabetical order. I hope this suggestion is worthwhile enough to be implemented. Thanks for reading.
4. Yes, seems like the server crashed. Had a good run though following the up/down weekend.
5. Yeh can do that was checking first I was not going blind while searching for them.
6. Trying to do the mission "Enrage [Progen Warrior] [Version 2.0.W]" -- step 1 is go to Odin Rex and use enrage on an Iron Vulture found near the Destroyed Mining Facility. Does not seem to be any Iron Vultures in the vicinity only some Iron Eaters. Had a good look around too. Anyone had any luck finding the Iron Vultures?
7. Thanks for the speedy reply! I did have what I thought was a thorough look round in the area west of DCO but nothing over CL8. It was a total surprise to get a triggered spawn like that so just want to warn everyone they are gonna need a gang to succeed in the meantime. I will ask a GM for help.
8. Alright so the Progen HU30 mission step 12/16 has changed. It still needs six Mersus Milia Bombers CL10 to be killed but here is the gotcha. The previous step requires six Mersus Milia Fighters CL8 to be killed -- no problem. But upon killing the 6th fighter a SPAWN is triggered containing all the bombers which then proceed to do the nasty. So take a tow, undock look for bombers and no sign anywhere. It seems like there is nothing above CL8 in the area outside Onorom. No bombers, no captains (captains used to be needed?). Right so HU30 becomes stuck if you don't manage to kill the bombers in the triggered spawn. No other place to find and kill bombers. No new spawn triggered if you fail the first attempt. No way to progress the HU30. Stanig any comment on this?
9. This same issue or at least a similar one has afflicted the global login server from time to time and has quite a long record of misbehavior. Sometimes it seems stable but this reoccurence suggests again that an issue has always lurked unresolved. Best of luck with figuring out the issue.
10. IMO Sunrise was and still is the best name for the server because it suggests the renewal that follows sunset. The name also honours all the fallen MMOs that have been set into sunset by their various owners the latest that comes to mind being City of Heroes which closes at the end of this month.
11. Cutting component drop rates, removing all the refined ores out of hulks - two examples that would help the "economy". The economy is not really about how many credits players have in their wallets it is about balance between professions and the supply of goods. I picked those two examples to highlight a specific balance problem for the mining profession. Who needs to buy ores from a miner when components that are abundantly available can be broken down into refined ores and reused? At least using vendor components there is a cost that needs to be weighed against ores sold by a miner. Hulk fields are another problem example. DigiApogee stuff has no value on the market as it is so common and abundant. Those items are just a steady and easy credit stream for miners and also goes some way to discouraging miners to sell ores for credit income instead. The economy hurts low level players right now, if they need a tow and equipment needs repaired they soon lose all their credits on repairs! In time, in a few weeks, everyone will be rich again and they will start twinking credits to their low level alternate characters and the problem will be forgotten. Except new players will still be getting hurt by the repair fees and may not be able to afford player made stuff. Really bad for new players.
12. Server restart was fine for a while but now global server failed again, cannot login.
13. Seems to work now in Firefox 16.0.2 without any user agent modification. Thumbs up for fixing whatever the problem was.
14. FWIW temporarily changing the user agent bypasses the issue with formatting. I added all the latest profiles that were available to the user agent switcher add-on and selected Chrome 18.6.872.0 (Win 7). Other user agents may also do the trick too. This is not a fix for the issue but for someone wanting to continue using Firefox until the issue is resolved it is a workaround.
15. Until this morning, Firefox 16.0.2 using black theme has worked without problem. From this morning, the style sheet has become corrupt and rejected by Firefox causing loss of formatting to the forum and rendering it as a mostly white page. Switching themes from black to default theme makes no change. The error on the console is as follows:
The stylesheet https://forum.enb-emulator.com/public/min/index.php?ipbv=7760fdb97de973e97e0a24042674b7b0&f=public/style_css/css_17/ipb_help.css,public/style_css/css_17/calendar_select.css,public/style_css/css_17/ipb_common.css,public/style_css/css_17/ipb_styles.css was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html", is not "text/css". @ https://forum.enb-emulator.com/
And trying to look at the style sheet code first few lines normal then garbage characters follow. Using Iron (Chrome) everything is still OK and other non-Firefox browsers are probably still OK too. Nothing has changed in my FF installation between forum formatting working OK early this morning and now after the formatting problem started happening, except that I have ctrl-F5'd to full reload and deleted all cookies to try to remedy the issue locally but without success.
16. Firefox 16.02 same problem here - wall of whiteness no formatting. Fine in Iron (Chrome). I did ctrl-F5, deleted web content, deleted cookies did not help.
17. I've also noticed that once the "already running" message pops up it tends to happen again and again repeatedly. So 27 attempts does not seem out of the ordinary. What seems to work is to stop trying to launch for a moment, using the ceasefire time to kill off any oprhaned proxy processes that dont have a child client process, before trying again. It often seems to work doing it that way for me at least anyway. I've only got the old proxy code to look at and this version dates to before Tienbau's modifications for the mutex name. This older code seems a bit chancy for a few reasons that I can see, if the current code is still the same then it might explain the problem. The old proxy did not begin the client in suspended mode. The old proxy searched for a process handle using the client window title instead of using the handle returned when the client process was created. The old proxy only suspsended the client when it was ready to make modifications and it then played Russian-roulette resuming the client then suspending it again, to make another modification and did that a few times. The only way to make the mutex name modification stick is to suspend the client at process creation, use the handle returned from that process creation system call instead of searching by window title, making all the modifications including the mutex name, then resuming the client. Not starting in suspended mode means the client can race through to and beyond the mutex checking code before being suspended for modification. Randomly searching for a client by window title means the proxy might find the wrong client to modify! I can perhaps understand how Sharel's technique for launching might work as a workaround for everyone if the current code for the proxy is still similar to the old version I have seen. Anyway, thanks for reading if you did, tbh just amusing myself with theory-crafting for a moment.
18.
Since we cannot change the client, there is no "fix" for that.
The proxy does actually "modify" the client process and one of the modifications is for the client mutex name. Originally this mutex was intended by EA/Westwood to prevent users running more than one client and users got around it by either using multiple computers or running the client under different user accounts on a single computer. The proxy runs a client, suspends the client process, modifies it and lets the client run again. I too get the "already running" message sometimes. My thought about this problem is that the technique used to set the mutex name to something unique either is not fool-proof or may be the proxy is still suspend/resuming the client process around each client modification instead of suspending the client once - making ALL the modifications - resuming the client once. This might give the client opportunity to run through the mutex check with the original name before it is modified?
19.
I'm open for discussions tomorrow(friday) I'll be perfectly happy to have friday if that's what is decided altho part of me hopes you will bicker and fight and I green light the old ways again. Did I mention I never liked days for guilds .... Wouldn't take much for me to just say hell with it, kinda hoping you do argue and bicker about it.
Despite being a compromise the rota is still the better alternative to the open competition that went on before. I think we all have to wait and see what the revamp to raids brings us and until then would suggest making no changes.
F@$&Y&%$ Sry I scared so much I cant type
Introducing the player that is solo multi-boxing the controller spawn with four JDs! Screen shot taken September 29th 2012 approx 1100 EST.
20. The daily rota thing is not really working out, tbh. If one guild gets the kill then the chances are that the next guild will not see a spawn because the RNG decides the next spawn will be > 24 hours. There are single players multi-boxing the raids the GMs need to deal with that please. A way forward may be to more closely integrate co-ordination and be more dynamic with the rota. For example there may be opportunities to kill a GOBB spawn for one guild when others cannot attempt the kill, that guild could get the kill achieved and then stay out of it until the other guilds all have their kill. Then once each guild has a kill then three days of FFA and begin again. It may be that the whole cycle including FFA days may end up taking more than seven days to complete. Close integration will be the key without it either stick with current plan or go completely FFA. There is a solution to resolve the raid problem: activated raid spawns (or ARS). ARS has always worked well for the fish bowl. Raids can be run on demand the bottleneck is gathering the components for the raid device. ARS are a fair and right way to offer access to raids for the whole community. The AV raid is an ARS but the MPP spawn method leads to spawn camping - could be improved upon. The timer on the AV needs reducing to perhaps 4 hours. Two MPP spawns into one AV spawn in the same period of time does not work.
21. Seekers were already good before they got their Quasar devices. With Quasars they have become GODS OF REACTOR RECHARGE. BOTD, scutums, reactor optimization + Quasar = all group members become disciples of the holy divinity of reactor recharge. And seekers can spam recharge shields practically non-stop after buffing up recharge. If I could change anything about a seeker I would DITCH that awful squiggle for reactor optimization. But may be its only me that wishes it were a different graphic effect. Another change would be to increase the duration on reactor optimization. May be seekers could get a skill added but care must be taken not to make them vastly superior to the trader. I play seekers, traders and privateers. The trader is useful solely because it has hull patch and yet traders have to make so many compromises especially in a raid setting to be any use i.e. fit funnel weavers, smugglers recourse, intent or nova lance for +reactor recharge. L8 reactor is the traders achilles heel. On paper the privateer might look good with its damage output but if they have to focus on a group member for recharge shields that damage output is NIL. I never take my privateer to raids. Most times its the trader, some times its my seeker. If its my seeker I take then everyone always mentions that their reactor stays stable for the duration of combat all the time.
22. Can we post feature requests here? After logging in to the portal to the left there is a vertical list of names of characters on all the accounts. Please may we have a tick-box option to re-list the character names in alphabetical order? A at the top, Z at the bottom.
23. Well common sense implies that the clickwrap agreement stopped meaning anything when sunset occurred. Part of the agreement was that EA provided a service or server and in return the player agreed to certain stuff. An agreement is only valid when both parties keep up their end. If the terms of an agreement are broken then they are subject to renegotiation between both parties and that didn't happen. The clickwrap stopped being enforceable at sunset and it would be unfair if EA tried to apply it now. Of course EA could drop their fat wallet on some lawyers table and tell the lawyers to close down an emulator. That has not happened yet and got to think it will not happen. What would EA gain from it? Unless they planned to return ENB which may be we would not mind. NCSoft had an emulator for Tabula Rasa shutdown but the emulator just resurfaced again.
24.
The portal became the official forums after the EA shut down it's Earth & Beyond forums....during the course of "Live". All the threads and user accounts were then transferred to the eaportal forums. So it can be argued that the eaportal was indeed the "official" E&B forums.
What's this "EAPortal"? lol
25.
True, In my snapshot I did not scroll to the end because I wanted to show the #16 condition. Scrolling to the end or not, one must click the "I Agree" button to play the emulator. All I was pointing out here is the ease in which EA Games could close the Emulator down at any time, especially if we attempt to go "Live"...in which case we would really come onto their radar....and bastards that they have repeatedly shown themselves to be, I wouldn't put it past them to close it down on entry #16 as the grounds for doing so.
If they do, they do, until then, we don't worry about it -- well may be the Net 7 folk worry more than we players do but they've made a good effort to protect themselves with the not for profit organistation. If EA went that route they would end up playing whack-a-mole with a succession of ENB emulators getting more difficult to whack the mole until the mole learned to survive despite EA. At least I hope.
