1. Redirecting from the portal a bit... Would it be possible to get a copy of the server status from the portal here on enb-emulator.com? Not that it's much of an inconvenience, but I usually go here first and click my way to the portal even if it's just to see the server status...
2. Mmm, a mining thread I haven't dug into yet Mining has changed back and forth a few times just in the few months since I got back. It's never had quite the flow to it it had in Live. That may be partly due to the fact that my miner hasn't maxed out his mining skills or equipment yet, but I think most of it is due to game mechanic differences. I'll be busy elsewere this evening, but I'll go on a mining spree tomorrow night and get back to you with my evaluation.
3. I like most classes. My main in live, and here is my JE. In the beginning he was my clear favourite, and I played him almost exclusively until I got my second account. I think my first character on my second account was a JD, but closely behind were another pair consisting of a JE and a TT, and more pairs were to follow so I could try out all the classes. My TT quickly became my second favourite character. Once I reached endgame, I started taking more of a liking to my warriors, since much at that time was about fighting. I still liked mining and building equipment from scratch, so my JE remained my favourite, and still does. My PP has taken over as close runner-up over the TT though, since I like that little bit of extra fire power.
4. To make it balanced it would have to take an insane amount of reactor energy and a lot of time to finish an AoE prospecting cycle. That wouldn't be much fun in my opinion. I'm not sure how they could solve the tractoring in of the prospected material either..
5.
actually this can be calculated from the skillpoints that got used
Unless you got extra skillpoints from the Elfman brothers or other special missions...
6.
... Anyway I think the vault size is good enough for the players needs, unless you wanted to store every single ore type from L1-L9. That defiantly would break the game economy, not to mention miners who are having trouble already which spurred this thread IMO.
I like mining, and I suffer from a bit of altitis (I have alts of every class, and 2 JE's so I can WH everyone). I currently use my main JE for storing level 4-8 ore (that's as far as he can prospect yet) and my second JE for level 1-3 ore. When I've leveled a bit more, I'll probably go 7-9 on my main JE, 4-6 on my TS and 1-3 on my second JE.
7.
Kinda made charging for builds pointless I like to receive tips and charge people but the way the game is now ( till a pwipe) were stuck in a rut..
Actually, there's no need to do an entire wipe to test the economy. All they'd need to do is reset everyones credits. Maybe culling the build lists a bit to up the competition between builders would help too. Doing any of those things could cause an uproar though...
8. Looks like most of the guild left again. I haven't seen anyone around with invite privileges.
9. As far as I can recall, the autofollow range was half weapon range in Live, probably because beams only did full damage up to half their range. I used it quite frequently on my jenquai's in live to deal maximum dps and receive minimum damage.
10. The best solution I've seen to this so far is to place pawnbrokers at some station or stations that buy looted and player made equipment to a slightly higher price than normal vendors and resells them for a slightly lower price than normal vendors. This would require a different inventory management system for the pawnbrokers on the server end, but it should be possible to use the existing vendor interface client-side. The downside of this kind of system is that it would not be possible for the players to influence the price. Perhaps a simple supply and demand system could be coded into the pricing where the pawnbrokers pay less and sells for less if they have many items in stock, but that would be as far as it could go unless you could transfer the credits directly to the player who sold an item to the pawnbroker when you buy something. Personally I don't feel the need for a completely player controlled marketplaces are necessary. If I get something rare I have no use for myself, I'll just sell it directly to a player instead. A mail system would be more difficult to implement since there's no support for it in the client, but perhaps some existing system in the client could be made to work for that too.

200% Ores
But don't forget, PM raw ores would mean a magical technology and device that could work at molecular would be needed... we don't have such magic machines yet (or at least at industrial scale) to fuse matter and transform it at will. and if we did, wouldn't be cheap, nor now, now in 100 or 200 years (high pressure, heat, etc)
I don't know much about the refining processes used today, but I wouldn't be surprised if they include several steps, and more steps to increase the purity of the end product if low-grade ore is used.
I don't see what is driving this thread. What is it that's broken that these proposals intend to fix?
For me, what's driving this subject is the lack of variation introduced by guaranteed 200% quality builds when you begin with refined ores.

200% Ores

I've thought about this too. I think the quality of components should be dependant on the quality of the materials used. Getting 200% automatically like we get today makes it way to easy, since it basically guarantees 200% quality items all the way. We're not even in beta yet, so people should be prepared for changes. Where is the variety in getting 200% everytime? If quality is implemented on ores, getting 200% components consistently should require 200% refined ore. Getting 200% refined ore consistently should require refining 200% unrefined ore. However, I think the number of qualities on ores should be limited to make stacking possible(or average the quality of a stack). An idea that could supplement this is to use the refining terminals to purify 2 unrefined ores of any quality to one 200% unrefined ore. The quality of refined ore should depend at least on the quality of the unrefined ore used and the skill of the refiner.
13.
I tried this already and doesn't let me eh, it says invalid
Ok, here is a walkthrough of how I did it, including a few screenshots: Install the Character and Starship Creator. Select the Character and Starship Creator icon on the desktop, right click and select Properties. Add -noclassrestrictions at the end of Target. (see screenshot) Run the Character and Starship Creator and click Next twice to get to the character slot selection screen. Select a free characterslot. (a slot that's free on both the Character and Starship Creator and your in-game account) Use the arrows next to the Choose Profession text at the bottom to select the desired class. (see screenshot) Set up the character and ship the way you want them and exit the Character and Starship Creator. Run the game and the character created in the Character and Starship Creator should show up at the character selection screen.
14. I don't know if it's related to the save issues, but I logged in my JS yesterday, and found him in OMP. I don't recall leaving him there, and the nav points all the way to Saturn were unmapped. I haven't played him since doing the elf-brother quests, so there has been plenty of time for me to forget or something to corrupt the data saved for either to his position or to the mapping status of the navs.
15. As far as I can recall, my JE in live had 100% warp charge reduction (or insta-warp as I like to call it). I don't remember what was needed to get it, but I remember having max navigate and lvl9 devices (though I used mostly lvl8's to get rid of the debuff if I remember correctly). Insta-warp is very useful for prospecting (and survivability).
16. There are several posts on this already. The latest one can be found here:
17. There is nothing logical when it comes to inventory and vault space to begin with. You can store enough components to build several hundred stacks of ammo in just a few slots, so why can't you store the ammo in the same amount of space when it's done? Besides, there are precedents. Does anyone remember the ore compressors? Besides, I would question the need to limit cargo space any day. I see only a few not so important reasons to do it: No limit makes it too hard to find something, limit storage capacity on servers and increased competition and collaboration. When cargo space gets so limited people create mule characters just to store stuff, the limitations are too harsh in my opinion. Having to use mules just adds more to do takes time away from game play that could have been more productive and fun.
18. I just thought about another feature that might help with this issue. It might be difficult to code, but you could make it possible to stack stacks of ammo in vault. It could basically convert for instance 100 "Ogun Plasma Missile" to 1 "Stack of Ogun Plasma Missiles" when transfered to vault, and you could stack say 100 "Stack of Ogun Plasma Missiles" in one slot in the vault. When you transfer back from the vault to inventory you would get 100 "Ogun Plasma Missile" in a free slot in your inventory, and the number of "Stack of Ogun Plasma Missiles" in the vault is decreased by one.
19. None, then again, none of them hunts with missiles
20. I think it's more like saying a hunter can assemble his own ammunition. I know many hunters do, but I don't think many would be able to build their own rifle.
21. I think ammo build should be connected to weapon skill instead. If you can use a weapon, you should be able to analyze and build the ammo for it. Not that it has much of an impact for me since my PS and TS are pretty far down my alts list, so I will always have an alt capable of building ammo for them.
22. I hunted spindels in Dahin a few nights this week and got a 143% Corona Australis I PR 2 and a 140% Petit Sango.
23. It would be nice to get a few different levels of how well stuff is hidden. Getting a hint in which general area to start looking would be nice, like listing sector or system for the more commonplace drops. Narrowing the location down the more common an item is supposed to be. Would probably take some time to code though, so it might not be worth the trouble.
24. STO has gotten better, but the basic game mechanic is the same. I still play it from time to time, but most of the time I find myself enjoying EnB more...
25. Let's hope server restarts are more than 0.5*respawn rate apart
