I like VBox because it is cross-platform, open source (available) and the VMs have some really neat features that Parallels doesn't offer me in my professional life. I play EnB on VMWare under Linux and Windows too (portable workstations on an external drive) and since VMWare has a basic 3D acceleration and DirectX-Abstraction it is working quiet good. Yes, he will need the ability to install Windows; the VM solutions only provide the support for multiple OS's, the user needs to provide the OS.
