Kyp [LDEV] Posted Saturday at 11:42 PM Report Posted Saturday at 11:42 PM Sometime tomorrow I will be performing some updates to our security infrastructure. This will mean the game has to come down temporarily, most likely but if it does go down, we would plan for no longer than 30 minutes. I will get in game and announce a few minutes ahead of starting. 2nd maintenance may run a bit longer as there's a bit of DB maintenance to do in the process. Quote
Celestial Kraken Posted Monday at 12:58 AM Report Posted Monday at 12:58 AM Hello, I used to play this game when it was out 20 years ago, My brother and i still talk about it. i found your site and immediately DL'd it to play. is this downtime affecting me logging in? i get a 'Can not connect to game server" error at the login page. please, pleeeeaaassee help me get back into this game. hahahaha thanks, Bill Quote
Codemonkeyx Posted Monday at 06:07 AM Report Posted Monday at 06:07 AM @Celestial Kraken check here and give these things a try: https://net7wiki.bmsite.net/index.php?title=Troubleshooting#Cannot_Connect_to_Game_Server Quote
Celestial Kraken Posted Monday at 07:35 AM Report Posted Monday at 07:35 AM Not sure, but i can't get in with either the login I set for Net7 website, not the AE games login info. It's late and i will try a few more times over the next day or so, but It might not be worth the hassle right now. Which credentials am I suppose to log in with at the game start/ login screen where the nice lady is always saying she isn't able to validate my login? Bill Quote
Codemonkeyx Posted Monday at 08:14 AM Report Posted Monday at 08:14 AM What is "AE games login info"? From the net-7.org website you create your game accounts and those (Account -> Avatar settings) are what you use to login to the game. Each net-7 / forum / wiki account can have up to 9 game accounts associated with it. Quote
Kyp [LDEV] Posted Monday at 01:12 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 01:12 PM This maintenance didn't end up starting, so no. I will do it sometime this week, I got caught up in some stuff outside the electronic world. Quote
Celestial Kraken Posted Tuesday at 02:35 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:35 AM yeah, this is not working, i keep getting the same beautiful little voice telling me no. I have made a couple of accounts on net7, and the game login doesn't accept it. I will keep trying, but after a little while i may move on. thank you for the help tho. Quote

Celestial Kraken Posted Tuesday at 03:07 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 03:07 AM (edited) finally got this far. Where can I get the game and just host the dang thing on a server myself? hahaha Edited Tuesday at 03:09 AM by Celestial Kraken Quote
Proteus Posted Tuesday at 05:49 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 05:49 AM (edited) @Celestial Kraken Me and my brother are just getting back into the game after a long time as well. We've had a smooth experience getting back in so it hurts my heart to see these posts lol. My first question might sound dumb, but how many programs did you download and install from Net-7.org's downloads section? In your posts I see you've mentioned that you downloaded the game client. But I don't see any mention of the Net-7 Unified Installer. If you haven't downloaded that, go ahead and download it, install it, and then let it run; it will restart itself a few times while applying a crap ton of updates to your client. Don't close any windows, just let it do its thing. Don't read any further till you've done the above. Now you might be tempted to hit Play and just start playing. Not so fast, or you'll be playing the game in a tiny window from yesteryear. The Net-7 Unified Installer will also install a couple other programs on your PC: 1) The Config program (you might remember this from the old days). Welcome back to the early 2000s, this is what you'll use to set up your sound and resolution the way you want, you can't do it from the game. Right-click it and Run As Administrator. After you get your resolution and sound the way you want it, the program will offer to run a simulation; let it run the simulation, and then press OK or it won't save your preferences. Open it again anyway just to make sure it really saved your preferences. ...Except your modern PC might not want to run the Config program at all. Sigh! If that's the case, go to Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\EBCONFIG, right-click E&BConfig > Properties > Compatibility > and set the Compatibility Mode to probably anything. These forums recommend Windows XP Service Pack 3; I lazily just clicked Windows 7 and it made the Config program work (I'm on Windows 10). 2) The Net-7 launcher. Now you can finally hit Play near the bottom of the launcher. You must start the game with the Net-7 launcher. Every time. If you try to log in directly through the client, you'll get an INV-300 error like in your screenshot above. "Where can I get the game and just host the dang thing on a server myself?" Any amount of headache we go through to get you back in the game will be far, far less of a headache than the headaches you would experience by self-hosting and maintaining an old, cranky MMO project like this. Proteus Posted Tuesday at 06:02 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 06:02 AM Oh, and I almost forgot. Once you're in the game, go into Settings > Controls and at the bottom of the window, just choose the Standard FPS controls layout or you WILL go nuts trying to figure out whatever the hell EA thought "Standard Persistent World" settings ought to be. And then go into Settings > Graphics, uncheck the box for default values, and slide everything except for gamma all the way to the right. Instantly your game will appear crisper. Quote
Celestial Kraken Posted Tuesday at 03:16 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 03:16 PM Do you have to have an Avatar on Net7 to get it? Quote

Codemonkeyx Posted Tuesday at 08:12 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 08:12 PM net-7.org -> Main -> FAQ -> Game play and Issues (tab at top) -> How do I get in the game !! (don't ask me why this is so buried, I don't know) Quote
Celestial Kraken Posted Wednesday at 01:47 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 01:47 AM on step 8, waiting for the 'Earth & Beyond Client' to update, but i always only get a error saying can not connect to server. also get this when I push play on net7 .. Quote
Codemonkeyx Posted Wednesday at 02:22 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:22 AM What happened during the actual install? What did you say to the prompt about updating? This looks like a firewall or router issue. Quote
Celestial Kraken Posted Wednesday at 04:32 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 04:32 AM it never did an update, and i have the folder/s allowed in the firewall. as far as I know. Quote
Woodstock HGM [HGM] Posted Wednesday at 07:54 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 07:54 AM Celestial Kraken, Your problem is your using the wrong Launcher, you need to download and install the Net-7 unified Launcher from the downloads page of the NEt-7.org Page the Net-7 Launcher is the new default launcher 1 Quote

And i get this and since i made changes to the firewall i am not getting further that I was, i don't get to the cute voice anymore, that page doesn't show up. I really really want to get this to run again, so i am hanging in there.. ha! I did a snip video if you want to see it, but it is over 26 MB and will not attach here. Celestial Kraken Posted Wednesday at 04:12 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 04:12 PM hey Woodstock, I see what you were saying now. my apologies, I did use the wrong one there. My goof. but the net7 launcher is still not working. i will show that one here... and then i get these two boxes. Quote
Woodstock HGM [HGM] Posted Wednesday at 07:30 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 07:30 PM your launcher is very out of date, on the launcher got to the launcher tab at the top left select reset updates, then go select Check for updates. then go to the Help tab upper left and select advanced settings in the pop up window select force updates. there is also a thread here in the forums about how to remove certain files from the launcher directory and restart the launcher to get it to update, you can as a last resort uninstall the launcher completely and reinstall it, most player don't have this issue but it does crop up once in a blue moon where someone has an issue with the launcher. 1 Quote
Kyp [LDEV] Posted Wednesday at 10:52 PM Author Report Posted Wednesday at 10:52 PM Start with finding and deleting net7proxy.exe (or renaming it) and then do a reset updates > check for updates from the launcher menu on the upper left. This will get you to pull the latest proxy. From there it may either work or have a different file error, let us know. @CelestialKraken Quote
Celestial Kraken Posted Wednesday at 11:40 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 11:40 PM tried the above two messages, no joy, uninstalled and re-installed, three times and now i get this. And on top of that, every time I tried to update it before, it would tell me version 2.0 is already installed, I saw that after updating, and while installing. not having much fun here folks, I am almost, ALMOST!! ready to remote someone into my system, and i know that's a just a way to get screwed. lol Quote
Celestial Kraken Posted yesterday at 01:21 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:21 AM well, i have the dang thing back to where she tells me my login credentials are no good, and when it did take, it said it can not connect with the registration server. which account are to use? I'm going to have to step away from this thing, only been 20+ years since i played, i can make it another 20 if i don't get it to work. HA! Quote
Woodstock HGM [HGM] Posted yesterday at 03:59 AM Report Posted yesterday at 03:59 AM Did you create a Game Account on the Net-7.org page, the Forums sign on will not work as a Game Sign in, Security reasons. Quote
