1. I agree that it takes out a huge part of the tactics (and itemization) in the game. Some mobs being "physically" linked, like the 3-pair of RDs in some zones, is fine, but overdoing the "assist" part is killing the fun. I had another weird thing happening to me last night. Was warping through Odins Rex, went past the waypoint with L23 Chavez, got out of warp about 12k past the nav. No mob on radar (I can see those Chavez at 9.5k distance). My sig being 2.5k and their aggro range about 4.7k (usually). I started to buff myself up while attending my other screen when all of a sudden 5-6 of those Chavez jump me. They came at me like I had aggroed them in warp (but they weren't "blinking"), which I assume shouldn't be possible... No, I hadn't aggroed them earlier, I came straight from Arx Ymir, so no latent aggro. Can someone please check the coding for those mobs as I find it to be a bug if they aggro when I warp past them (or is that a feature I missed somehow ?). /Totte
2. Right click on the shortcut to the Starship Creator, choose properties, in the target line add -noclassrestrictions at the end of the command. Use the arrows at the bottom of the character creation screen to see the new classes, once you start the program. Also note that whatever character slot you use for this new class, will be overwritten, so pick an unused slot unless you want to loose a current character
3. Depends on what range of the game you are talking. As a whole I definately agree that PP is the strongest class, covering many areas and has no real weak spots. Negotiate, Crit, Recharge Shields, a great weapon to device slot balance and of course the best setup of base skills (L9 sheilds/reactor). For specific areas of the game there are of course better classes
4. There is definately a hardcap, at least for certain skills. Recharge shields at max level "heals" for 5760 per skill level. With maxed skill and a CFB (adding 4.96 levels) it still only comes out at 57600 per activation, i.e. capped at 10 levels (instead of the 11.96 levels it should give).
5.
I mean back in live leveling wasnt such a chore.
Back in live combat exp was based on your level vs mob level, regardless of what level the rest of the group was (as long as everyone was within exp range of the mob killed). This made getting CLs extremely easy if you could get into highlevel groups (and stay alive ) and it made composition of groups less relevant. Although that system might not be the best solution, it definately made combat groups more common than what we have now.
6. The faction adjustment I got from Blacklung wasn't enough to get me into Moto (see other, locked, topic). I am at -2400 and -2500 respectively, and I am pretty sure it takes -1999 or better to use a gate. Any chance I could get my Progen faction set to something lower than this, please ? Thanks in advance, Tottepp
7. Ignore the above, Blacklung has responded in another thread
8. Thank you for the quick response and assistance, much appreciated Blacklung
9. Hi GMs ! Apparently I did this mission back in early 2010, before the gates to Moto were "closed" and hence now when I came back to play again, both my factions are in the red, preventing me from entering the zone. Could you please clear the "mission done" flag on my character "Tottepp", so I can have a chance at participating in the Moto war like everyone else ? Thanks in advance, Totte
10. I keep reading about the traderun from Pluto to Earth and just can't understand why people think it's so great... In live I got about 550 exp per item doing the spice run at Neg4 (TL15+) on my TT, which is the same as I am getting now in the emu. (one way was slightly lower, like 525 iirc). The Pluto-Earth run gave me just over 1k per item (1034 ?) the other day when I tested it, which is on par with the spicerun as it's one way only. Both runs are 4 hops, with the spicerun having slightly longer stretches. Of course if you can grab explore jobs going back, it's going to be a lot better in total, but those require OL90 which is not what a trader will be even close to when his TL is in the high teens/low 20s. Once you are OL90 the traderun exp should have "dried up" a long time ago and you should be hauling stuff between Somerled and Fenris anyway. Can't remember when the exp from spicerun "dried up" in live, guessing it was around TL30 or so ? In general I don't find the exp from traderuns to be any better than live at all. Also compare the spicerun to explore jobs at VT for instance. Spicerun for TT is about 36k on a return trip (OL60, 34 cargo slots ?), same as the VT jobs and equivalent time taken. Now group with a JE and you almost double the exp from the jobs (assuming you can get enough 6k jobs for 2 players, otherwise it's 4875 each). For the traderuns there is nothing better than Neg5, being a TT and in a group, every other scenario is a lot worse. Maybe my numbers are off, as I haven't done many traderuns lately (and I can't check right now), if so forget everything above On another note, what happened to the device earlier mentioned in this thread ? Was it ever implemented ?
11. Thanks Matt, that gives me some hope that I ain't SoL after all
12. Took a long break from the emu, but returned a couple of weeks ago. Last time I played was in April '10 or so. Back then was about the time Moto was first opened and I spent some time in there shooting things up to see what they dropped etc. Didn't really worry about factions as the gates were open regardless. Now when I got back to playing again I found myself unable to access Moto as both my factions are in the negative 2700 range. Now I can't access the zone anymore as both gates are red. When I filed a ticket about not being able to trigger the "Moto mission" outside Net-7, I got the reply that I already completed it (back in 2010 I suppose). So apparently I messed up my factions back when the gates were open and now I can't access Moto since gates are faction dependant. From what I understand there are no mobs that give faction outside of Moto, so does this mean I am caught in a catch 22 and penalized for something I did two years ago ? Is there absolutely no way to gain faction outside of Moto ? (if so, it really needs to be changed). /Tottepp
13. Any chance the server vill be restarted soon, or are us Euros SoL when US is asleep ?
14. Thanks Kenu. I was looking all over the forums for any indication for the last 10 minutes Net-7.org seems iffy altogether, the homepage comes up blank for me except for the "account information box" at the top.
15. Pardon me for missing something here, but what are these "database errors" OP is talking about ? The login problem I am aware of (although I have been spared most of the time), but not being able to log in is no reason for a wipe, so I wonder what is ? I know of the problem with >255 recipes bugging your build lists, but that can't be common enough to warrant a wipe, can it ? Just curious what I missed here since there is talk about wipe/rollback and I have no clue why /Tottepp
16. I am looking, always enjoy new content that needs "discovering" However, I have been all over Progen space now, looking for something worthwhile carrying back after the F7-NV trip, but nothing that would reward exp for a higher level Progen. There is a tradegoods from NV called "bla bla Ore Request" going to OMP. This goods is L3 and priced at around 250 credits, sells for a little over 500 and thus gives no exp for me. I don't understand what the purpose of it is, considering it's a 9 jump route and the reversed route has an item that pays much more and rewards 1100 exp for me. Found a 3-stop route for low-mid level PPs though. Tarsis - Altair - DCO - Tarsis Can't say how good it is since I am too high for it, but the long leg DCO-Tarsis (for PP, PW has shortcut) has higher yield at least. There are probably several more low-mid levels "circuits" out there, but since I can't evaluate them properly I am mostly trying to find routes with higher level/more expensive goods right now, and I am failing :/ /Tottepp P.S. And no, it's not worth going empty back after visiting NV
17. Sorry, didn't mean to withhold information at all, my post was more directed to the Devs Anyway, these were a few of them (TL50, neg5, PP), didn't take notes so it's just from what I recall: F7 - Norstrand Vor: Exotic Dancers, 1700 exp, 8 minutes at 5.2k warp (a lot better than Fenris-Somerled) OMP - Norstrand Vor: Forgot goods, something with ore, 1100 exp DCO - Arx Tiberius: Didn't take much note of this route since it's clearly meant for PWs, but neither of the two goods at Arx Tiberius is going to DCO (ran that way with a TL6 PW) On a sidenote, there was a goods from Norstrand Vor marked for OMP, but it didn't reward any exp for me, just some minor credits gained (like 250 each or so). Gonna check some more stations in the non-Terran/Jennie space and see if there is anything else noteworthy Feel free to add your findings. /Tottepp
18. After reading about the introduction of some new Progen-friendly traderoutes I decided to "explore" and see if I could find any good ones. I did find some really nice routes, but the problem with all of them was that neither had a return-goods to be carried. Did I miss something or is this intended, and if so why ? I did check out the neighbouring stations for goods to carry back, but no luck there either /Tottepp
19. I can vouch for WHs messing up tradegoods in Live. There is a reason the popup box tells you this when you WH you know I have no idea how SD worked in Live, but the "exploit" used by PWs so far in ST4 was just stupid. Every day I run into PWs with levels like 20-20-45. If you played Live you would know that the PW way to level trade was either by jobs or by farming zillions of lower mobs for tradeloot (organics usually). And yes, it wasn't fast at all due to their limited cargo and ammo usage. /Tottepp
20. You can still make the ammo for the Spitter. Mars sells the two vendor-comps and the third is PM from ore.
21. A very good "traderoute" for the starting TT is through a mission from Louden at your starting station in High Earth. He asks you to fetch 5 O2 cannisters and 5 Insignias from Earth and bring them to him. This mission is like the 4th or 5th he gives out and it's repeatable. Not sure if that's intentional, but it rewards 5000 trade and 2500 explore per. Once you have your lvl 10 HU you can load up 15 of each and hand in the mission three times each trip, netting 15k trade and 7.5k explore plus some 7500 credits gain or so. For a single jump (times two) run this is probably the best exp/hour for quite some levels and the explore exp is extremely nice since it's so hard to come by at later levels. /Tottepp
22. Did you do all 3 of them ? The HU is given after completing the mission for Vinda where you need to deliver 4 items. (unless they changed it the last few days). /Tottepp
23. Just a small note, the Progen lvl 100 HU mission doesn't give you the HU for free per se, as you need to gather 4 lvl 5 items to get it. The HU is 300k if you go the "Terran way" and around 350k if you do the mission (assuming you buy from vendor and have Neg5). Sure there is a bunch of exp rewarded for the time spent doing it, but it's by no means a "free upgrade" doing the mission. The reward(s) from the bonus mission is the only perogative to doing the mission instead of buying the HU imho, so would be nice if it worked. Hope you get it running soon /Tottepp
