  1. I'm not sure why you don't just use what has been offered? Seems to me that they look nice, the work has been done and he was not asking for any favors or uber weapons in game??
  2. And yet another great post (YAGP). This IS great!! We have meaningful communication from someone who actually knows what is going on. I don’t even mind that much searching for them. as I said before PLEASE keep it up. You may just get me donating again. Thank you
  3. Like DoS or DDoS? or as stated before old Net 7 launchers? It Looks like there are some severe penalties for whomever is doing it. (And we can catch them) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack
  4. I was thinking this morning (always gets me in trouble when I start thinking)that with such a change, many players are going to need a re-think of their builds. I remember in ST3 GMs could do the call forward but I could be wrong here. Anyway it may not be so hard to take if the players could respec to account for the changes. Just a thought.
  5. Planned or Crash? With so many Devs on hard to imagine they don't know.
  6. Exactly what I have been asking for. Thank you.. now IF only we could move this post to the announcements.
  7. +5 by the way for being in the Air Force. Thanks much!
  8. Agree the irate posts are indeed upsetting. But the complete lack of communication is more frustration than anything. I can’t tell you how many times I have tried to log in (seeing multiple users in game) only to find some change or other has been made that prevents me from getting in. If you look through the posts you will find that the work-arounds for login issues (less Slayerman’s posts on registration) have most, if not all come from the users. That being stated, it sort of enforces that we are NOT all just rude whiners, but interested in seeing the game prosper. And help others get in game. Posting how you got on, when others can’t, is not “spamming” it is the community using the best way of sharing information to help. But when the server goes down it seems that a quick post from whomever (powers that be), saying something as simple as: This is a planned down time, we hope to have the servers back in x min. or hours or even days. This was a crash, we are working on getting it resolved as soon as possible. Boiled down: Crash or Planned would give a ton more information than we currently get, from the “Server is up” or the “Server is down” applications or posts on all but this the main site.
  9. I’m just curious why you feel you have to attack those that don’t agree with you? TS can’t be the method of communication between the Devs, GMs, betas to the players at large. Case in point (Above post) was the different time zones. I’m pretty sure the bulk of the Devs are scattered all over the globe. Germany, Australia, and the US, so listening to TS 24/7 to get a bit of information is impractical at best, at worst outright dumb. All anyone asked was a please provide a bit of communication... this would go a long way. We are all giving our time (and cash) to bring the game back. If you have been around for a while and followed the donations, the gross take is over 1,000 US per month or +/-12K per year. Granted this is not a lot of money but it does or should (as stated) take any financial burden off any one individual on the Dev team. Suggestion: If you are in the “know” and can listen to TS 24/7 and get the scoop on why the servers are down, or when they will be back up, or what we need to test and where… How about you start a “Scotty’s Corner” posting daily informing so the rest of us know what you know. It would be appreciated.
  10. /agree Seems he would rather respond to a simple Hi in chat with a "Use TS as IT is the mode of communication in our guild!" seems to me a Hi in return would take much less effort.. but there is no spell checker so I understand.
  11. LOL seems your post is the spam. --- yet another update (that's 2) and seems to allow logging in. And would NOT have to post if there were valuable posts.. get it... "And quit spamming check server!" is not a valuable post. But it does get your post count up.
  12. Same here...but I did get an update
  13. I think most feel your pain. Don't think that this topic is uniquely yours, if you dig through the 10k + posts here there have been many… many… MANY… requests for some word on server status. I suggested the announcements section. I guess they figure that if it’s down it’s down…and if it’ up ..well, it’s up. I don’t look forward to a change in communication from the "powers that be" until they have to start charging for the game. When that time comes paying customers in this day and age demand communication for their hard earned money. It would be nice for a few words, but we aren’t going to get it.
  14. If this is true it's time the server gets moved from the guest room to a server farm.
  15. Looks like this GM was "Busted" but all in all not the end of the world as we know it.
  16. Please let’s all keep this in perspective. I got on at the tail end of this event. Roughly twenty minutes left. Thought to myself “wow if only” if only I had gotten on sooner, if only I was a higher level, if only I had access to unlimited WHs. Then I remembered ST3 (not so long ago) all my running around to get uber equipment, the best PLs, reactor, shields, yes even MLs. But it was all wiped clean in the blink of an eye. I sit here and watch players fight about KS, and complain about this favor or that favor. As far as I know this is yet another Stress test. We are going to get a wipe sooner or later. So stop the fighting it really is not worth it at this stage of the game…if ever. So what if some GM holds an impromptu event? It seems fairer to me if no one knows about it in advance. And if some players get a prize and gain an advantage to kill faster…it is still a stress test, tomorrow we may all be back to level 0. And if you think about it, it is a great way to have some additional fun in game. I hope this GM keeps it up through this ST any future tests and well into the live game.
  17. Mobs have shield graphic but no joy. Shoot them and their reactor is the only thing standing between them and their maker(s). Sort of sad really...they seem to know it and don't even shoot back.
  18. /signed... Mostly my situation word for word, except the last part. If I can't be in a group/guild without a mic. I will go solo. It's not worth messing with the wife faction for the few moments of game play I get each day. I understand that most hate to type, but if you look at the chat channels in many if not all of the on-line games there are a ton of messages flying back and forth, So not everyone who teams HAS to use vent or TS. Or maybe they do.
  19. I too can't get past Megan. If I enter incorrct information she let's me know. But as soon as I enter the correct information I get a CTD. Is there a possibility that the SVN changes got pushed to the live server and it messes with only some logins? WebSVN - fix bug which allowed some space objects to be ... There was a change to the ~ /Net7/trunk/Net7/PlayerConnection.cpp ~ /Net7/trunk/Net7/SaveManager.cpp And if the server was updated today with these changes (even though the date on the SVN was yesterday) It may be causing my and other login issues? Both my login and password have numbers in them, could that be an issue? -------------- Got in...no clue how or why -------------
  20. I can't get on either...was on this am no issues. Gets to password then poof...back to desktop.
  21. Whew!!!!!! Glad you are staying.
  22. I would like to have you all step back just a bit, call a “do over” and think about what is going on here. Obviously there are as many opinions on how or what should be done for the future of the EnB Emulator project as there are Devs. This seems to happen about every eight months or so, decisions made and Devs lost due to differences in opinions. The last Dev exodus was due to the decision to not release the db, as I remember. I think one person stepping up and taking charge is an absolute necessity at this stage to get the project to fruition. But can we really afford to lose Devs? Any Devs on the project? I therefore suggest a forum, a Democratic or Parliamentary vote system be put into effect as soon as possible, so we don’t lose the brain trust that is so vital to this project. Anyone who has been elevated in standing from player to Beta, Beta+, GM, Grand GM, Dev, etc. has been given that position for their abilities and their shown value to the project. It seems that it would be easy to implement. The Big Kahuna, proposes a change, the EnB elite are given x amount of time to vote and or express their opinions of the proposed change. (via email?) A healthy discussion could be had on the pros and cons of the proposed change. Bottom line, even if someone lost their way of doing things in this situation, they would not likely think that he/she had had no say. Something to think about? Let’s not have a total melt down here.
  23. Mimir

    FYI

Old stuff, but still interesting. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338946/fullcredits#cast
  24. Try it with the packet optimization un-checked. Mim's Voodoo list of getting into the game 1. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 attempts for me to get into the game. 2. Reboot sometimes helps, 3. Turn off virus scanner, 4. Use Task manager to turn off any app that is a memory hog. itunes, sling media, Tivo server Good Luck
  25. Well said, "Endorsed by me" as said by Slayerman. I too went through this. almost word for word and I could point you to my discussions had the Great server crash of 09 not happened. So I hit them with a few contributions and settled back to just play. If I find something nasty I report it to a beta and forget it. If I run into it again, I go someplace else or work around it, knowing that I did all I could to report the issue as I saw it. All you can do. Oh and whining in new player sometimes make me feel better about it, but not always.
