1. I don't really like rewards of cash, xp and faction, it's too job-like... Would rather have non manuf items with unique buffs. Not sure what repeatable missions would give then, maybe consumable items.
2.
I know that we have the facility for a roving NPC to purchase items from players and only sell what he has purchased. I think these are currently for fixed prices but it may be possible to tweak this so he could sell fo a price specified by the player. I would envision something like this. Player - Hi Bob. I want to sell my Phaser4. Bob - Well I'l give you 50 Credits for it. Player - Nah. I want to sell it for more. Bob - How Much. Player - 100 Credits. Bob - I can try and sell it for you but it will cost you 10 credits. Player - OK that's fine. Player then pays 10 credits and the Phaser4 gets transfered to Bob's invetory with a price of 100 Credits against it. Bob can market the item for say a fortnight and if not sold will withdraw it from sale. To recover the item or the credit if sold the player would need to start a conversation with bob again. I believe the above is technically feasible however I would not expect it to be implemented before Beta, probably not before live. Rolo. PS. I agree with the maximum stack size. Maybe max 1000 ores, 50 components and 5 items. Would also need to be a limit on what he can hold, maybe 100 items available to vendor at any one time due to the size of his hold? (Figures plucked out of thin air)
Do I smell auction house?

Power Down

I think what the OP is asking is more along the lines of... If I'm going to spend all those skillpoints to max it to L7 why do I get so little for it past L1? The current PD would be suitable to have just one level like CC and CF... The skill is so situational as well, useful only for AFK-ing when u smell pizza burning in the oven... It would be nicer if the skill lowered signature for a short while to amounts that are equal to cloaking, allowing you to travel safely with reduced speed past an area or mine a roid while not being interrupted.
4.
Most people call it a trader with L3+ shield recharge.
Cheeky chappy The scan skill also has an item form that raises scan range. Same for a lot of other skills. Skill form and item form. A JS with this item would have two healing abilities then. How powerful the second heal would be is subject to balancing ofcourse. Only suggesting this because the JS needs useful unique items and abilities to set it apart from the TT/PP.
5. There may be added reasons for this... 1. Low level fields. I'm sure most miners remember from live the small number of high level ore fields at least before the cygni/glenn/earth L7-9 fields were added. Then there was a vast amount of lower level fields which were almost completely ignorable because they had nearly zero value (apart from the ruined hulks!). The ores of L1-7 fields were almost all available to the maxed player for free as the components cost nothing really. Only L8 and 9 were of some notable cost... If you fix the economy so nobody has infinite cash anymore it will still mean lower level fields are completely ignorable (other than field clear xp). This would be while most fields are lower level ones... 2. Competing with the vendor. With component dismantling the value of an ore is decided by the vendor, not the miners. If a trader is poor he may go through the added effort of getting ores from a miner. If he has enough money he won't bother, and will just dismantle vendor components. If enough traders are rich enough, you end up with an overflow of ores that are unsellable by miners so they will just linger in their vaults. There is a non-flexible upper limit a miner can ask that is also subject to the wealth of the average trader. It would be better if miners did not have such unfair competition from the vendor, but rather compete with each other. Traders don't have to compete with vendors either. But if they did... Imagine vendors sold 200% of all buildable equipment and your job as a trader is to undercut their prices, still make it worth somebody's time to visit you to pick up the bought item, and make a profit out of it worthy of your own time. If your price is too high or they are rich enough they will buy from the vendor. So your competition is the vendor...lulz. This is an MMO not a SP game That is basically what the (non-ammo) ore market was about in live and will be about here.
6. In live and now the path that most playerbuilt components undergo is: Comp bought at vendor > ripped by trader for ores > rebuilt into required component No miner is involved here while the ore fields are supposed to supply the ores. Why not remove the ability to rip ores from components? Items will have a greater inherent value when they are made from mined ores. Also, miners would be more involved in the building process and would actually play the role they are supposed to. Currently, traders don't have the prospect skill but are able to mine ores like no miner ever could.
7. Would be nice if some form of device that is the opposite of martyr's heart/antlia would exist. Or a Phoenix-like device that transfers your reactor juice to their shields. Perhaps something for the JS...
8. My mouse is worn down and often double clicks so it somehow managed to press add reply twice which merged identical posts in one
9. Edit since I can't edit my own posts: device tech = device building Edit since I can't edit my own posts: device tech = device building
10. Nice stealth editing of Riia's post Thanks for making me laugh. On topic... What about Explorer only equipment? Should that not be buildable by just the explorers? While that is not entirely logical, but progen only being buildable by progen is not logical either, it would add a level of need for explorers to upgrade device tech. But it's prob a bad idea since quite a few items would need to be redesignated...
11.
.
Riia, Darn, the Crimson force barrier reactor has one helluva high capacity... It's recharge is also a bit much. Nurf it?
12. It's ok to have class interdependency on this kind of level because... You are already depending on builders to make your PM equipment. This is no different. But... The mission being optional for the people who would build those parts is a bit iffy. At least make that mission compulsory so it is not too hard to get someone to build for you. On a side note about missions... Some of the Jenquai missions have some good lulz in them, keep that up
13. Please correct me if it's wrong... Terran only can only be made by Terrans Jenquai only can only be made by Jenquai Progen only can only be made by Progen Or can Jenquai and Progen only also be made by Terrans?
14. During the EA days when the TOS was largely written it was only good that someone had multiple accounts because they paid extra for it. Now however, everyone can have unlimited accounts for free. Rules are needed if you don't want abuse. As to the justification why to use 6 toons, here is a simple analogy... A focus of the celestial (7% turbo or something?) was rare as %$£& in live and worth a helluva lotta cash. Running 6 toons, about 600% damage increase if they are all the same, is free in the emulator. PS: Combat is not the only potential abuse of unlimited accounts. Think of planting lowbie miners in orefields to do the scouting for you so you don't have to travel there...
15.
Its really a relic of the days when the server could support ~100 people. We wanted everyone to be able to play. I do not think it is strictly enforced now in our server code, but seriously it makes no sense for you to make six of your own toon for a group, make a damn friend.
If you have a friend they should not group with you though. Rather, they also need to have 6 toons. IF you have a friend that is.
Having said that, please don't abuse it too much, Everyone doesn't need enough accounts to make their own groups.
That is a very grey zone statement open to varied interpretations. Could you clarify what the limit of abuse is, how you are actually going to enforce it, and what the consequences are? And please tell me BEFORE I make my 6 JD's called the 'killsteal krusaders', PLZ.

JE deadlock

So I've been playing a JE for a couple of weeks and something very similar to live has occurred. I don't like it because it is not how it was meant to be. I'm now around L85 (explore level 28), using a L6 reactor, L6 devices and prospect skill is L5. Since L80 I was able to pull L9 roids (3 of them with full reactor). Add an Antlia and you are pulling 6 L9 ores in short succession. Nothing wrong so far you'd think... But It's now over for my JE, at this point you are so near the peak of the JE's performance as a miner that there is not enough incentive to carry on leveling. Sure you can level to 150 and gain a few advantages like wormhole to endriago (very rarely used) and carpenter (two gates from SE weft), extra navigate to boost warp capabilities, and the ability to pull more ores in one go. But those are very minor advantages, the big milestone of pulling a L9 roid is behind you already. From here on the gains are little. Or are the build skills why you should keep leveling? For a builder maybe, but not myself as a miner. Combat obviously is not a reason to keep on leveling as the JE is so inefficient at combat that a same CL mob is a struggle to beat. I'd leave combat for my warrior alts. Group stealth and enhanced support abilities like better jumpstart and better devices, are those a reason to keep leveling? For the die hard JE support player perhaps, but not me as a...miner. And don't say shields and engines are worth leveling for because 4-5k warp is attainable already and cloak pretty well negates the use for shields. Or perhaps scan is the reason to keep leveling? For that too I see no decisive reason as knowledge of the location of ore fields is all you need. And your scan range at L5 scan is more than sufficient for clearing the largest of fields. So... Now what? I feel pretty maxed out at L80. There is no incentive to keep grinding jobs or getting field clear bonuses. It would be nice if the miner part was given more reason to keep leveling. Sure a grandmaster will always be a better miner, but the difference is minimal. Unlike a L80 PW and L150 PW which are in completely different leagues when it comes to what they do best: damage output. Maybe some of the following could create incentive to continue leveling... * You could increase the mining curve so only at the far end of leveling do you have access to L9 ores. * Change fields in such a way that grandmasters and not lowbies can get the best fields. This probably involves ore guardians that are more closely guarding roids. * Remove the mining interrupt on hit (which I don't recall was in live) as this makes tanking while mining possible - a reason to actually have a shield on a JE miner. * Make dud roids not be so blatantly obvious. They contain lots of ores now of which you can get at least one, and are coloured too obviously. A dud roid is more welcome than a normal roid at the moment... * Add see cloaked to certain ore field guardians (RD's or other advanced mobs maybe?) Could help pressure lower levels who rely on cloak so much. * Add the old pop roid mobs. This will help increase the risk to lower levels, especially if the mob fires once immediately after it appears. * Add some L135 skills that noticably add to mining. There are probably a lot of other ways to make maxing a JE advantageous for mining... But bottom line is I'm L80-ish and as a miner I'm just leveling to level up now. Not leveling to become better. Fix this. Also suggestions what I'm supposed to do now as a JE are welcome...
17. If there is no critique on 6 alt formation flying and that becomes the standard accepted way to play, can this game be changed to accomodate that? I ask because all but raid content is easily done with 6 toons...
18. There are programs specifically made for multi-boxing games. They can send keystrokes to multiple programs or computers... And EnB, with formation flying, is probably the easiest type of game to get it working with.
19. Why the 3 accounts per forum account limit then? Since all this means is I will be constantly making new email accounts for a while. And you don't seem to care about the limit of alts so why not make it easier?
20. The 3 character limit is not an enforced restriction from what I have experienced. About a week ago I saw a 6 player formation outside F7. They all had identical names except for their profession -tags. All were L150 or close to it so it is my guess that this is acceptable as this player must have been around for some time.
21. This will no doubt be another failed attempt. They are a massive company and you have absolutely nothing to offer them. But I'm hope I'm wrong and someone on this forum has an illegitimate child with the CEO...
22. They also said that when Lincoln freed the slaves... This is not about the item, it's about how a developer that does items says that we better shut up or it's getting removed for everyone. That, now that is 2-year old behaviour. Also it is poor judgement that a developer removes an item and then expects people to live with it while only a select few can use it. Ofcourse a fecal storm ensues when it involves L9 projectile launchers... So to the zealots that think the devs cannot be criticised, without feedback they won't know what they're doing wrong...
23.
It's a small forum with limited users. No matter your reasoning, topics on this in 3 sections and 4 currently active posts were far from required...
No, you said so yourself the advocate is serving his own interests on the matter in the first place. Sneaky's topic is aimed at the people, and to silence them. My topic is to make clear to the devs they have many a bigger mistake by fixing a smaller one. They are aimed at different groups. Also the adv forum is not usually the place devs respond, it seems they have made a perimeter exclusion zone around it.
24.
You seem to be expecting the Advocate to surrender all his individualism when he assumes his role. By the very description of the role the Advocate is a player. If you are accusing him of not doing his job then you should spell that out for us. Sneaky both took the player concern to the Devs and also provided us their feedback. That is the role he agreed to take and which he has properly discharged. Personal interest is a prerequisite for the role - why would anyone bother otherwise?
Never, I am merely stating he has been silenced by the devs. He made a post for us to shut up about it. That is so incredibly weak from an advocate
25.
There were 2 different threads mentioning this topic in the player advocate forum and you needed to make 2 more completely identical posts? Not seeing the logic.
Read my initial post: PS: accidentally posted this in suggestions forum, since this is not a suggestion but a fact... What is not logical is people not reading properly and then replying.
