  1. You just don't get it do you. Do you think going around being the object of everyones pity for the sake of getting what you want is the way to be in life? Do you really think stating over and over "I'm a spoiled child who does what I want" makes you cool? You've already proven you are only out for yourself and don't play well with others, so I think you've pretty well convinced us all of your level of immaturity. Mr. Merlin I do apologize I feel I'm partially to blame for your anger by taking part in this debate. Please do not punish the whole community for this. Don't let your view of the whole community be tainted by the actions and words of the few.
  2. you can justify it all you want. why should the devs have to change things because people fail to use good manners or sportsmanship? The devs are already going out of their way to give us some nice goodies and allowing us to play during the stress test. there's a difference between taking what you need and taking everything you can to keep other players from having any. I won't respond further I think this thread has been derailed enough.
  3. you can be competitive without being ill mannered as far as pizzas and beatings it's apples and oranges to what I said, it also does not justify being selfish and/or inconsiderate.
  4. As I remember the hulks in game had only lvl 1 debris in them for engine building. It is unfortunate that a few people are trying to ruin things for the whole. It seems an attitude has developed within the gaming community to ruin the fun for others; this boils down to selfishness. The thinking is if they ruin it so people quit there's more "stuff" for them. It's truly sad we have this level of immaturity exists. If we go to other games forums we will see the same attitude there as well. How this type of attitude came about probably goes hand in hand with how our society views the lack of respect, consideration, compassion, and lack of manners as "acceptable" these days. For the most part the community is like it was but we do have the childish bullies that will try and ruin it for the rest of us. Thank you Merlin for putting in the "goodies" and trying to give us some bonuses, and to those selfish, inconsiderate players you aren't going to "win" I would suggest if you see them cherry picking the goodies Merlin perhaps a temp ban might give them pause to think about their actions. This applying to hulks only.
  5. Perhaps part of the issue is any time you disconnect from the game for whatever reason your "jobs" are wiped from your logs. Maybe it's not remembering where they are? Not having the patience to go find them? Getting more jobs and leaving the ones already there to a-find later b-let someone else clean them up c-hope for server restart to wipe them out d-know by the time you get back to them someone else has probably already killed them job mobs are a mixed bag, some see free xp, others try and keep them "cleaned up", others can't remember where they are or just can't get to them before they either get killed or attack someone or just they float around for hours to days before something removes them whether it's other players or a server restart. issues I have personally had: 1- crash and can't remember where they are 2- get there to see they've already been killed 3- have someone elses job mob attack me without my attacking it first (this isn't 100%, but has happened randomly) Perhaps this needs some discussion to get a reasonable resolution everyone can be comfortable with. It has been going on for a while now.

I believe there was a post a while back (can't remember exactly when due to faulty memory circuits) that stated things are being based on current population and can be adjusted as the population grows. Merlin has also posted in other threads his progress on getting the fields into the game. recently we have had hulks put back in, there are still quite a few "markers" around that need the fields put in place. I'm sure the amounts will be adjusted the same way mobs and things like fishbowl will be as the population changes.
  7. Personally if something isn't added with a push I just give a little "sigh" and keep on mining..... I would rather wait and have the dev happy with it and working right than push it in with a lot of bugs. After all we are in a stress test/apha not *game mode* *just my two cents
  8. He gave a series of missions in 61 Cygni in live. The missions were available to all races/classes.
  9. Perhaps we can combine this thread with "thoughts on mining"? The thoughts and responses do crossover with what is posted there. Prospecting is directly affected by playstyle and "needs" in game. As I stated in other thread we need to be mindful of different play styles, need, and rl issues that can affect gameplay. This was an issue in live that was addressed by asteroid despawning after a period of time. The cherry picking issue is more of taking needed ore vs taking it all and leaving others with "leftovers." If I remember correctly asteroids would "despawn" after a period of time if anything was taken from it. Perhaps we should address the real irritation which is; "people are taking what I want before I can get to it" and "I can't fully clear all the ores, because the good ones are already gone." Which really boil down to different play styles, so how do we address it to keep everyone happy? Suggestions have been; 1 make it asteroid clear bonus vs field clear bonus 2 have asteroids despawn if anything is taken and items are left in them 3 increase ores to meed "need" 4 more pure fields of "single level ores" Some of these will help, but again some will only increase the irritation because if you have "pure" fields they will become camped and a point of more argument. Perhaps the best fit might be to make it more explore xp and remove the bonus. This way mining will be more like combat/trade xp (neither get bonuses). Miners will be prone to take everything as opposed to the "choice" ores and if they don't whoever cleans it gets the xp. If asteroids respawn independently of the "whole field" it would allow more people access at that field and remove the argument of "its gone when I get there" or "my field I started it and want the bonus" or "I didn't get the bonus because someone took ores" and would give those levelling explore more access to the xp perhaps even get more mining/combat groups going.

On the flip side; as prospecting skill is leveled our prospecting range increases, it also increases with the use of devices like sculptor, miner, goldtooth.... is it not being able to warp to an asteroid or perhaps it's out of your reach skill level wise so you have to get closer to it? Also it could be a matter of getting as close as possible to reduce reactor use. Could it be the spacing of the asteroids in relationship to each other in space? I would suggest we look all both sides before making a decision about how close is too close to warp. This impacts other aspects of the game beside mining, and personally I don't see an issue with mining atm as a JE I've mined through all my levels. I do have to say the ore fields themselves might be a tad spaced out as far as how close the asteroids are to each other in some fields. If you are high enough level it isn't an issue, unless you are mining ore above your level. However; with the mob ai in it's current state of them trying to run away at max speed, that might be a valid argument to reduce warp distance, especially for beam/projectile users who depend on short range attacks. but again on the flip side as fast as the mobs run away we could be warping into the middle of agro trying to kill our prey.
  11. I can attest to the fact that when something is put on the play server it may not act the same as on the dev server. This is why we are here, to help the devs iron out the bugs and fix them so they don't happen again. I personally have spoken with Kenu about a couple of missions, one that was working on test server and the other couldn't be checked at the time due to the dev server being down. If we find a bug, or something that isn't working right lets; 1-try some simple tests and see if we can get it to repeat 2- post in bug section with what happened and the results like relogging or re- eqipping did this or that. The more information we give them the better so it can get fixed. I know everyone wants to "play" but, we need to keep in mind things are still a work in progress and being reverse engineered so we need to give as much clear information about a "hitch" as we can. While I understand loot tables are being re-organized can we please please please look to see that items are dropping at all? For one there is a post about the cygni 9 reactor and the bio-extractors. I know some of us have been camping them for weeks with no luck and I have read/heard of only 1 or 2 dropping, it seems the cygni is the only thing they won't let go of, but the sumpter VIII they give willingly or perhaps the drop rates are off for items. To be honest I'm not sure how to tell if the drop percentage is correct or not. Anyway not to derail this thread, but how can we help/tell if a drop rate/item is correct? Currently the databases aren't matching and I'm not sure which to look to to find information.
  12. This topic is kind of crossing over into the other thread about mining thoughts. However the expression; "you can make some of the people happy some of the time, but not all the people happy all the time," comes to mind. I remember warping into fields in live that had critters from pop rocks in them due to people either cloaking or warping away instead of killing them. They would leave them for the next person to deal with. I could warp into a field and not get the clear bonus because someone has just left due to a pop rock and the field is partially cleared. Scenario two is I don't get the bonus because the rock popped and I can't kill the critter or by the time I get some help to the field has respawned. Keep in mind also some of us *raises hand* level our combat last, so we may have good explore and/or trade levels but our combat is low so we may not be able to handle a mob our "level" as efficiently as someone who levels combat first, keeps their combat/explore/trade semi-balanced while leveling, or is in a group with someone with good combat levels. On a side note a person with a miner that just mines for component minerals will not mine the same way as we "miners" do, they won't be as prone to clear a field but look for what they need and move on (again impacting field clear bonus for a miner who doesn't know the field was just picked through). Hence my suggestion in the other thread to either increase the explore xp per asteroid/gas cloud (which could prompt more mining/combat parties) and/or increase the trade for refining. I miss the combat/mining parties :-(
  13. currently some of the asteroids appear "empty" but if you click on the first box like you normally would you can mine what's there.

  15. It keeps rolling around in my head that each rock had a small bonus for taking all the ore in it and that even if you took just one (cherry picked) it would respawn in live. To be honest I don't remember bonuses for clearing fields. It feels like: "I know you need ore x, but if you clear the field you can have y amount of bonus xp" If I'm a component builder and need one ore, is it realistic to expect me to clear an entire field? We miners will take the whole field just for the sake of the clear and because we enjoy mining. There are times I'm sure someone might be building an item and just need that one piece of ore; maybe they have to log and want to finish the item/get ready for a raid that won't wait for them to clear a field/don't have the cargo space needed to properly clear and finish their build. There are many reasons to not clear a field, all valid at the time. Might I suggest instead of a field clear bonus or rock clear bonus we boost the trade xp for refining? boost the explore xp per rock? This might compensate for cherry picking and accomodate rl situations as well (being in middle of clear and you're needed for a rl emergency/situation that takes you away from game) Perhaps it will help people "share" more and take away the concern about "bonuses" or "this is my field don't mess up my bonus" or I cleared it and got no bonus, not knowing someone had to log out for rl situation halfway through the field; which means neither player gets the bonus and you guys start getting bugged about "ore fields are bugged/broken". To be honest sometimes it is a bit difficult to see where one field ends and another begins so can be confusing if you're working an area and someone else comes along. I like the mixed ores in fields, too; it's just like killing a mob they don't always have level specific loot on them ;-). I'm sure it'll get ironed out content wise to be more of the level appropriate with some other levels in it. I'm not against have a few that are pure level x, y, or z, just not a lot of them, that would take some of the fun away ;-) I have been in several sectors recently, yesterday I saw several "markers" where I know it's planned for ore or gas fields. We need to be a little more patient and allow Merlin to do his thing so it's done and not buggy when we do mine it. Like you said Merlin it's still a work in progress. *True miners don't care what level it is, or what critter is in the field, they mine it anyway* Edit: Perhaps you could give us updates when you post the ore lists? So we can see how it's progressing instead of having multiple threads started on the same topic?

This will cultivate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles off earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 @ 12:30 am. It will look like the earth has 2 moons.   17. I have had the opportunity to chat with Magoo and he is his guild, his main priority is helping his membersand I've seen him in chat in game helping a lot of players outside his guild, too. VonCorp I see them around, usually in passing. If I have an issue with a person I /tell them first, if that doesn't resolve it depending on what it is and how the conversation goes I will go to their guild leader; I then avoid that person, if he's at a hunting spot I go elsewhere to keep the situation from escalating, if I was there first and someone comes along, there's always enough mobs to share. I may not kill as many as fast but there's still enough to go around for both of us. 99.99% of the time situations can be resolved by either talking to the person or their guild leadership. do large guilds "run" some of the raid content? yes, because of their size they have the people to be able to run the events more. Do the raids need to be harder so only big guilds can do them? no. That would remove a large portion of the game populations chance to do it. Instead make another gate in the same sector for harder content for those with the "manpower" to do them. Why punish small guilds and solo players so a few can dominate the content? Or force people into guilds they don't want to join? Personally I like the way they have made the raids doable in keeping with the smaller population. Maybe the way to go is to keep it like it is but add another gate with harder content for those who want the bigger challenge when everything else gets done and ready for live. I've always felt it's better to add content than to add more "space" it keeps the community closer and more interactive.
  18. I have heard it in game several times that faction isn't working correctly yet, so perhaps keep BBW open until it is? I have to agree with missions and grinding being out of proportion, but as more missions get put into game more rep gain can be addressed, but it all takes time so we need to be patient and see how it goes. At the moment there aren't a lot of missions in so we have to grind to level and to gain rep. However, perhaps an adjustment needs to be made to our starting rep considering the state of faction and the game in general right now. Yes BBW was factioned in live; faction was also working correctly and there were a lot of missions in live to offset it. Plus there was more storyline, too. there is a lot more to this game than "endgame", too; which the devs are actively working on. if you get bored make a new character and try a different class or race, lets let the devs get it done before crying for "more". I am trying some of the new classes to see what they are like before it goes "live" and I'm waiting and watching to see if progens become their own storyline and game within the game. "eventually" faction will work correctly but gates are being implemented first. which is more a punishment than a prize with the issues we have in beta. It's like some of the steps are out of place, instead of" a, b, c, it's a, c, b. I by no means am telling anyone what to do or how to do it, I've spent most of my working life working with different types of projects and this is just my two cents.
