  1. It was a trade off for the PS. Build your own ammo for a really expensive price or pester someone else to build it for you - if you could even find a person to build them. And if I remember correctly, you could only build Archos plasma rounds using special comps (which were the expensive part - I remember buying a stack of the comps and realizing that I just spent like 200M to get them). The even bigger trade off was that I think the ammo actually did slightly less damage, but it's only a little thing in the back of my head, I'm not certain on that.
  2. My PS is also 135 and doesn't even get offered the bonus mission and both toons have done the HUs and completed them exact the same way. So there's either a bug or some underlining and unexplained reason why my PP gets it and my PS does not - but as usual there's not information provided and it's all a guessing game. This is the same case for a guild-mate of mine as well. Its clear from these forums or the general in-game chat that people have serious issues with these missions and yet nothing is being done about it and the only response you get from Byakee is some vague (like his mission text) rambling that leaves you with no clear answer. I don't want a mission and reward just handed to me, I like working for them, but the current way things go, it's a horrible system and needs to be rethought. But then again, any changes he makes will make it so that only new toons get the missions and not people that have already put time and effort into their toons like he did with the previous revamps. I also understand that it's a stress test and things aren't always spot on and will change. But people have put the time and care about what they get done. Something with so many problems and leaving so many players frustrated should never have gotten past the entire development team and continuing to do so. It's bad business.
  3. Since apparently the forum admins remove posts for speaking ones mind about the way something is develop, I'll word this different. Byakee, your HU135 bonus mission could use some work. The fact that I am not able to get this grand reward that you have preached about over and over again for doing ALL of the HU missions simply because I was given a series of responses that could have gone any way and I choose to go the Progen way - which you repeatedly say yourself when speaking of combat - and stayed true to the Republic; is extremely disappointing. It makes it very difficult as a player to want to have anything to do with the missions knowing that it can be easily undone for what is seemingly no apparent reason. You've just wasted my time and made me regret ever donating and I'll never be donating again. Thanks!
  4. Let me start with that this is NOT a guide on how to do the Progen HU missions - this is just general information about where to go to start your HU and what you get with each upgrade. There's already information like this about the original Live classes but I was not able to find this info for the PP so hopefully it acts as reference for others that are curious. I didn't think about righting down the prefix/titles until I was already past my HU100, so if you know them, please share! 5. Yes, that sounds like a good solution! P.S. I did go check out Cooper. Sadly the 3 Ten-gu guarding the fields are too high for me. I'll definitely have to pillage those fields later!
  6. Good post! Few comments from the PS perspective Don't bother with Repulser Field (RF) for now. It's very bugged. 1) You cannot apply the the current level you have to other players unless they are at the same EL level as when you get that upgrade of the skill. Other wise you have to use the lower versions on them. 2) The feedback damage is too high and is reported to the mob from the RF - not you, so you can easily loose kill credit on a mob and get no XP or loot. Basically the mob gets pissed at the RF the feedback damage when it hits you. I feel like it's length of time active is not correct either. Seems to kill itself off pretty quickly. I can't really remember from Live though; it's just a feeling. The Menace ability is iffy. I personally find that it rarely works and I have mine upgraded to lvl5 or 6. Others have told me though that it works just fine. It may need some tweaking still. I would put that at the bottom of your list of things to upgrade. Kinda sad that most of the unique abilities of the PS don't work and leaves them little more than a mining toon. Get up to lvl7 devices and then upgrade when you're 150 and have everything else where you want it. For a miner yeah you can upgrade your harpy, miner, RR+, etc. but if you get the looted Voltoi device for miners device (lvl7 and I forget it's specific name off hand), you really don't need to worry too much. Golden Tooth is awesome of course, but it's pretty pricey too and not *that* much better. For reactors, get the Theodisous reactor line - I believe it starts at lvl6. It's pretty much the only one you need outside of a Unicorn when traveling. As for PP's and the Guardian device - yes, they work and very well. You can definitely see a difference in the amount of time it takes for your Shield Recharging to actually go through and I think there's a small reduction in energy used - I can't confirm for certain though. For all Progens... since damage types are getting implemented more (from the June push you see some chemical, more plasma and I think a bit of energy and impact) - get an Ivory Ward.
  7. I noticed on the update today that the launcher has had it's options changed a bit and that there's a new one for "Client Detours" what does this do? And what's ptr.net-7.org? Thanks!
  8. @Tienbau - Now that you mention Shepard, I do remember seeing a large rock field or two there. Granted they were all lvl6 if I remember correctly. I've not touched Cooper yet. I'm not sure if I'm high enough CL wise to handle the mobs. But then again I'm going off previous game memory and it's about time that I went and checked it out. @Avani I agree. The more I think about it the more I'd rather just have faster respawn times or continually respawing fields. In all honesty, I can mine that bonus XP faster than the respawn time if the roids were already there. The XP's not really the point, it's easy enough as a miner to get EL XP ... I'm more interested in just getting stuff in my cargo. Maybe it could be possible to have some of the higher level stuff be more like live or the gas clouds that Tienbau is referring to? At that level, your main concern isn't the XP but getting the stuff in your cargo. Granted, that adds a lot more complexity. I've also noticed that there's very little market chatter about buying/selling mined stuff. I'm not sure if it is because there's not much demand for it yet, that there aren't enough miners or that since people can easily create a second account for mining, that they just do that.
  9. Mainly to Merlin, but here are some general thoughts/observations I have on the tremendous work you've been doing on the fields! Hopefully none of it comes off as criticism as it's not intended to be in any way, shape or form. I wanted to wait until I had a chance to really mine a lot and get a feel for what I remember on Live and what's been changed before posting anything. I love bulleted lists, so that's what you get! I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the Bonus XP for clearing a field. In one hand, I like it because it gives you a reason to mine the entire field rather than just cherry picking. On the other hand, I kind of dislike it because it really makes it difficult to continually mine. You clear a field and then you have to move on to another one. In some places this is a bit of a hindrance as you have to wait for the fields to respawn and you're either sitting around waiting or you need to move to a different system. I think I would be more into it if...The respawn time was faster There were more like-level fields (e.g. rather than having 2 fields in one system that are lvl8/9 - have 3-4), this way at least by the time you're done mining all of them, the first will have respawned. The fields were far larger - however, if the fields are really large, I'd rather see a more diverse set of prospect stuff (e.g. mix in hydro, glowing, rocks and gas like it was in Live). More on this below. In other words, I would gladly trade that Bonus XP for very large fields or continually respawning fields like those that we in live. [*]In line with that, I also worry about what mining will be like if the player base gets much larger. If you've got a lot of people mining and the current respawn time, mining it going to become less interesting and more of a battle. This may be your intention though, I don't know. But I myself like to mine because it's something I find it oddly relaxing.[*]It also makes it a little difficult to mine with other people. Especially on the smaller fields. You have a lot of huge gas areas that are great for mining parties, but I've at least not seen anything comparable with non-gas items. When I see someone in a field or come into a field I'm already mining, I instantly feel a sense of dread that I've now got to compete for the stuff that I want to mine.[*]I'd like to see lvl8/9 fields have a little less lvl7s (or any lvl combination for that matter). In fact, it'd be nice if you got rid of them completely from those fields. Mainly because it just adds more stuff you need to store in your cargo.. especially when you get like 1 lvl7 rock the entire time. Sure, include some lvl7 stuff in the lvl8s but when the lvl7s are there, you're also getting lvl6 stuff, so that's 4 lvls of rocks you have to carry around, sort and deal with if you just want to go out and mine to your hearts content.[*]I also feel like I would prefer seeing mixed field types over the 1 in a specific field - like it was in live. There are a few places that you do this nicely - like in Arg Prime near the planet (I forget it's exact nav point off hand) - but it's got pretty much everything there.[*]I love that you're splitting things of the same level across systems. It makes it much easier to mine as you don't have to worry as much about your cargo filling up with stacks of 2 or 3 mined things and stacks of 100+[*]Hulks would be awesome and it does add a bit of diversity/realism to mining. From what I remember on Live, 99% of the time it was worthless junk loot. When you get around to implementing them... if you could make it more interesting, that'd be awesome.[*]I'm seeing a lot of stuff that is say lvl8 only have lvl7 things in it. This makes me a bit sad [*]I haven't been back to Primus in awhile and it's not listed in your recent ore location list, however, I did notice that you posted something some time ago about that area being updated. The last time I was there, the fields were mostly Hydrogen.[*]There is a field in Freya between the hidden asteroids that used to be mining spot (towards the Rag gate) and Nif nav 2... it's been awhile since I've been there - I think it's mostly lvl6/7 Crystal and Glowing with a few lvl8s mixed in. The glowing had a lot of hydrogen in them. The crystals were all ok.[*]Speaking of Freya... I feel like the crystal field near along the Nif navs should be upgraded to 8/9 mostly if you're going to have lvl46 Sults coming after you from obscene distances. I'm not sure what it is about Naggys, but they all seem to have a ridiculously high scan range. This may have been updated with the June Content Update though, I have not been back to look. Or leave it the same and keep the Naggys at a safer distance and throw in some level appropriate mobs that come after you (like the bio hunters, in other fields) So that's it, I think. Again, hopefully none of this comes off as criticism. I love what you're doing and I love that I am able to mine again!
  10. A few notes that you couldn't really cover in the voting. Granted, my two toons are not OL140+ but they're pretty close now, so this is from that perspective. I think I really like the mob AI changes. I haven't done a lot of diverse hunting since the push but I'm finding that I'm not swarmed nearly as much. I am still seeing some cases of mobs chasing you even though you've gone very far from them. Case in point, 2 Naggies in Nif followed me from stopping at a nav to get the EL all the way to the center Vindis nav on the other side of Modo (I think that's the name of the big red planet there). Personal, I found that I was doing better with the changes in terms of loot. At least now I'm getting devices and other higher valued stuff that I wasn't really before (I'd end up with like 100 looted comps that sold for nearly nothing). I do think that trash loot should be tweaked a bit in terms of resell value. I was really disappointed to see after 2 hours of hunting I barely covered the cost of my ammo. With the changes this is slightly better, but it's still not really 'balanced'. I'm not saying give me a way to get rich quick, just make it so its a tad more worthwhile. I can see this being especially helpful for people that aren't on a ton and don't have time to farm trash but need the credits to get normal everyday stuff. From what I remember in yesteryears, raiding was kind of a pain if other people/guilds were trying to do it at the same time. One thing to consider might be to create 'instances' of special raid zones so that it doesn't prevent other players from completing raids too. I can't decided if this would be useful with our smaller player base. In one hand, are we really getting enough people to do raids on a regular basis? And in the other, with the smaller player base, it'll be harder to schedule enough people so two guilds trying to do it at the same time might be a big problem if that's all they can muster up. Hopefully that makes sense. Granted, I know that would be a massive amount of work. All-in-all good work Getting better and better with each content update!
  11. Minor suggestion, might want to copy/post this to the Progen Skills or PS forum too
  12. Well, It's good to know the field actually works! I cannot remember but I feel like on live there was a bolt of energy that went back to the mob? Or am I thinking of something else? Its hard to tell that it's actually doing any damage, but apparently it's doing quiet a bit. Is there a combat/dps log somewhere on your local machine? And I completely understand that there are bugs to still be worked out and that's A-OK.
  13. I have Respulsor Field lvl6 (Ultra Repulsor Field) and I can apply it to myself just fine, however when I try to apply it to my other toon, which is two levels higher than me, it tells me that this player is too low of a level. This was never the case in live as far as I can remember. Also, I can't tell if it works or not, can anyone confirm that it's functionality is actually working?
  14. I was testing out the fields in AP and found that the Hydrocarbon field at Aragoth Resource 1 a large number of the hydrocarbons were out of the limits of where you could move.
  15. Scratch that, I just experienced what you are talking about... The way to get around this is 1) Make sure you're not minimizing the client and 2) If it happens, tab out of the client and while holding down the SHIFT key, right click on the app icons in the task bar and select Restore - that brought them back for me. So strange that this has never happened before until right after I read this post o.O
  16. I am able to do this fine on Win7 - I wasn't at first when I was making the application run in Win XP compatibility mode though... do you have that turned on?
  17. Oh I know there's bigger things out there that the dev team is working on and that they're all volunteers. Again, very appriciative of all the hard work that's been put into this. However, from other postings, it looks like they updated the HU100 and then 75 missions - at least that's how I take it from this forum posting: Level 75 Hull Upgrade Revamp in progess As for the missions you mentioned, I think you're referring to either the PP Menace mission (which requires 10 each of 3 looted comps) or the special mission from the research guy on Nostrand Vor. The latter was actually a really fun mission. Even though it required a great deal of raw/refined stuff I liked the concept of it a lot. My only issue with that one was that because the roid fields are still being working on by Merlin, getting the full stack of Boronite need on my PS was a very long process - I'd find maybe 5-10 at a time and have to travel or wait for a field to repop. But that should be balanced out as soon as all of the systems/roid fields are updated.
  18. I know the point of the Progen is to go out and kill things but for a Trader class this purely combat approach is really not that fun. As with a large majority of the trader classes out there, I have a very high TL and low CL at this point. The mobs are 10-14 lvls above me. Seeing as I need to do 51% damage to get the credit for the kill, this makes it even more difficult since a vast majority of your shots are misses because of the CL difference. I don't understand why there can't be some trade content within this line for the trading class - and from what it sounds like there's no Explorer content either. I feel like this defeats the purpose of the class system. Yeah it's kind of hard to do effective trade content, but you could easily do something that requires the PP to get 30 items from different locations (obviously non-store items since they're they only ones with the cargo space to store all of that). Or to make a massive delivery that requires multiple trips (like 200 weapons crates to Cygni). On another note, while I have not completed the part in Aragoth, I have in Oden Rex. The first mob you need to kill (the CL 22 - I forget it's exact name), is a one-at-time spawn. Which is kind of silly when you have 2-4 of the CL25 KOS mobs constantly coming at you. More so, if there was a larger player base, this could be a potential bottle neck with many people trying to complete this segment at once. I don't mean to sound like I'm completely ragging on this, but I feel like the PP and PE were left out of content that was suited for them. I'm very appreciative of all the hard work put into stuff like this to make this game come alive again.
  19. If I remember correctly, you need build comp lvl3 in order for them to speak with you. I'm not sure if there are other level requirements as well. After the NPC not speaking with me, I think I tried again after my OL30 upgrade (or 50, I can't remember now). It's a very tedious mission that requires a lot of mined stuff. So either plan to spend money breaking down other comps or have a miner handy. The reward isn't anything special either but the promise that there's something bigger and better to come kind of makes it worth it (granted I have no idea what that final thing is, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed).
  20. Has this been pushed to ST4 yet? I have been trying to find Boronite for my PP to complete the builder mission on Nostrand Vor and in your list (the second one) it says I can find it in Odin Rex. However, after doing a pretty completely exploration of the system, the only ore fields I can find are lvl5 (and in your list is says there are no lvl5s in the system).
  21. I'm running Windows 7, when I try to do this, I get a message that E&B is already running... Do I need to duplicate the game directory or anything like that first?
  22. The E&B Config and the Net7 Config don't seem to be taking affect when I try to make the game run in Windowed Mode. I'm running on Win7 so the change to personal data may be the cause of this. Does anyone know where I can find the .ini file so I can manually change it?
