Hints and Tips

Grouping:

The Progen warrior has one function in a group; to kill whatever is attacking it. Enrage has its limited uses in certain circumstances. You main role is that of a tank. You take the brunt of the damage, like it or not you are a pure meat shield and almost always the target will go after you. You can dish out an enormous amount of damage with your weapons combined with shield inversion. A terran trader with a good recharge shield will be your best friend.

Solo:

Put shortly the Progen Warrior is a lawn mower and anything in their way is grass. Since you are a warrior combat skills are a must. Without them, forget soloing. You are the best warriors in the game, don’t be afraid to get in there and duke it out. More often then not you’ll be the one flying away. Experiment and find what is right for you.

Starting out:

After you finish your newbie missions you have a choice to make. First you must choose which weapon you are going to specialize in. This will make all the difference in the world. It will change your solo and group tactics and how you do combat in the future. A brief rundown is that terrans specialize in missile technology. While they hit hard from afar, they can get very costly. Progen specialize in projectiles have a medium range and do good damage, but also can get costly, but less then missiles. Jenquai specialize in beams that are close range combat and require no upkeep. Many simply choose beams because it is cost effective. Choose the one that’s right for you.

You must also choose what type of class you want to play as putting points into skills will make a big difference later on. So choose carefully and pick the one that suits you. Plan you character early and it will save you a lot of time when you get into the higher levels. You can’t go back and change your character, so whatever you use your points for you’re stuck with it unless you can find a Progen Sentinel with "Call Forward".

Advanced tips:

As you grow and gain experience you will find that certain things work better against certain enemies. Remember this, as it can be a big help in the future. Learn when to use your skills when they will be most effective. As a Progen warrior you have hefty shields and a big energy reserve, so do whatever you have to win against your opponent. Watch your shields though. Shield inversion will be something you love or hate. Find out which one it is before you start putting points into it. Another thing to remember is that you get the full benefits of combat trance if you’re not moving. So you do your best fighting when you’re standing still. Sounds silly to sit there and take it, but that is what you are best at, get used to it.

Are PW's slow by class or just slow by build? I'm assuming you could just strap in a nice engine... I'm going for a fast armored tank type, in expense of some other skills.

And why points into beam weapons? A fallback when ammo runs out?

Some progen beams are pretty useful, I mean you'll run out of ammo on a PW eventually...sure you can use missiles if you want but that's more space in your inventory that you won't be able to loot anything with since they have low cargo space.

It's your preference though...I have some examples of beams you could use.

Dagger Max (Energy)

Damage: 100% - 87.00 & 200% - 130.50

DPS: 100% - 8.70 & 200% - 13.05

Reload: 10 Seconds

Energy: 99

Range: 1.20

Improved Combat Trance (Equip): +2.0 Skill Level(s)

Improved Self Destruct (Equip): +60.0 to 1,800.0 depending on ability

Scimitar Prime (Energy)

Damage: 100% - 87.00 & 200% - 130.50

DPS: 100% - 8.70 & 200% - 13.05

Reload: 10 Seconds

Energy: 99

Range: 1.20

Improved Combat Trance (Equip): +2.0 Skill Level(s)

Improved Self Destruct (Equip): +60.0 to 1,800.0 depending on ability

Nightstick V (EMP)

Damage: 100% - 57.00 & 200% - 78.00

DPS: 100% - 8.67 & 200% - 13.00

Reload: 6 Seconds

Energy: 59

Range: 1.20

Improved Shield Inversion (Equip): +4.0 second(s)

Shunt to Reactor (Equip): +3.5 Reactor Recharge and -35.0% Shield Recharge when equipped.

Trident Delta (Energy)

Damage: 100% - 71.00 & 200% - 106.50

DPS: 100% - 10.14 & 200% - 15.21

Reload: 7 Seconds

Energy: 78

Range: 1.30

Boost Projectile Range (Equip): +30%

Lance (Energy) <- Best one if you plan on using beams

Damage: 100% - 71.00 & 200% - 106.50

DPS: 100% - 10.14 & 200% - 15.21

Reload: 7 Seconds

Energy: 72

Range: 1.30

Boost Projectile Range (Equip): +30%

Equipment Damage Control - Weapons (Equip): +58%

Shunt to Reactor (Equip): +8.1 Reactor Recharge and -40.2% Shield Recharge when equipped

Once you start overdinging, and have excess skill points, by all means level up beam weapons, they are great for farming junk for credits (more hold space for loot and no ammo cost)

Youll look silly, and some of the PW purists out there (like me :P) might comment on you being a beamer, but hey, it costs a lot less than projectiles for the cash/easy mob grinds.

For raids though, slap your big level 9 archos/fury/bile/ballista setup, whatever you got, and deal the highest DPS in the game

You could strap in a fast engine, but all the really speedy level 8 engines are LOUD. Meaning high sig. A couple of the raid drops are nice, but until the SS8 is available, youll never be fast without being seen by every mob within 15Km

U dont need a Raid for a quiet eng. Crystal Dynamo lvl 8 Eng with 900 Sig and 4k Warp, with this eng, an AA device and voitoi essence i have a 1,4k sig on my PP 1,8 on PW and nice Buff's for free 8).

Alternatively, throw on a Black Speed 8 and I have a 1.5 sig with nothing else modifying it. Plus, with just the engine I warp at 4k and impulse at around 470. So while I'm not a TS, I'm not exactly slow either.
