  1. I'll take a glance through it.
  2. *wields the Nerf Bat of Divine Might +2* hmm, oh.. nevermind.
  3. You have lots of screenshots and documents? I had about 20 screenshots to go on for Aganju It will be changed some from live but only for story reasons, I won't delve into that now, you'll have to play to see BUT if you've got a fair amount of reliable documentation then we might look at some changes to it. What you must keep in mind is that in "live" they took about 6 sectors that were in the documentation, crammed them together and called it Aganju because they were trying to release after Westwood fell apart with the EA purchase.
  4. Given what I talked about the other night on the game server, we are talking about opening the developer server to people who register to come test for us in focus tests. We shall need 50-100 people depending on the change in most cases, and it'll be a lil more like work than play BUT if we get enough people we should be able to avoid any need for wiping the play server for a long time to come. I just wanted to put this here as well so that those who might not have been on are aware of it.
  5. Which button? I have lots and lots of buttons.

  6. e-mail it to here and I'll review it to see if it can help us. Thanks!
  7. Well, you could always use the redistributable for .net 2.0 or greater and that's a much smaller size than the whole framework which is used for programming in .net languages. The below is quoted from an MSMVP: "The .NET Framework has two main components: the common language runtime (CLR) and the .NET Framework class library. The common language runtime is the foundation of the .NET Framework. .NET Framework 3.5 uses CLR version 2.0 and so does .NET Framework 2.0 or 3.0, while .NET framework 4.0 uses v4.0. .NET Framework 3.5 includes .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 and 3.0 SP1 as prerequisite. Please read the following blog to understand the relationship between .NET 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. See: http://www.danielmoth.com/Blog/2007/06/net-framework-35.html Secondly, we need to know more about the OS itself. Windows Vista (all editions) includes the .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0 as OS components. Windows 7 (all editions) includes the .NET Framework 3.5 with SP1 as an OS component. This means you have the .NET Framework 2.0 as OS component if you have installed Windows Vista and Windows 7." To run the launcher you must have the redistributable: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en IF you're XP or older. Now, with that in mind, all the newer versions of windows Vista and after come with 2.0 as a core component of any level of install. This means that you DONT need to download ANYTHING to play, the C++ redistributable might be an exception.. I'll have to double check that but I've never had to download it. However, I program on my own so I already had it in most likelihood. We can set the prerequisites on compile, and set what needs to be done to have the installer handle it. It's just a low priority kind of thing and we never think of it because we're too busy working on other stuff. I'll look at recompiling the Launcher with the pre-reqs so that it prompts you if you don't have them. =) Kyp
  8. At last count I'm aware of we only add two registry entries with the install. 1 to register the client and 1 if you're on a 64 bit machine to avoid the silly message about registering your game account with EA.com (since they no longer support the game).
  9. Should be able to just click in the field and it'll highlight like an address in your internet browser. I will check now to make sure.. I'll edit this if not. The above is correct, just click in the field, it'll highlight. Push backspace, then play and voila.
  10. Also, Avani, on what basis (actual proof, and not memory) were the things you listed Working As Designed? More specifically, since the team is designing it based on partial data (if any data), how is someone other than the designer qualified to claim something is working as designed?
  11. I seem to recall that camping the Market channel was where I spent a good portion of time above level 140 during the live game.
  12. Thank you for your help with the project. You'll be welcome to return anytime, should you change your mind / have more free time. Good luck with the business venture, starting a new one can be hard, but very rewarding if you are fortunate.
  13. Tell me it's not just IE8, IE has serious problems with a lot of websites from v8 and up. Turning on Compatibility view for all websites in the tools menu fixes a lot of problems. I'm not sure why IE8 but I know it's been a pain at work for this kinda stuff.
  14. We couldn't tell you, or no one would level Technically, there are enough navs at the experience they are giving to take you to 50 now, but many of them are hidden and not easy to find unless you know EXACTLY where they are. However, we'll look at adjusting this where we can as balancing comes along. I know it's a hassle to do this stuff again, but look at it from another perspective, at least you have jobs this time around and not just trade runs and navs.
  15. This error means that the list value in the drop down box/text field for the server isn't right. The drop down that lets you choose multi or single player, etc. Some values in that were changed around when we stopped using multiplayer and a new installer hasn't been released since then that starts with the files a little more up to date. In the case that you get this message when you start the launcher, select continue, then Launcher > Reset Updates; Launcher > Check for Updates Launcher is where the File menu option would be on most programs. What DragonLady said is the best way to resolve this, also if you're on Vista or Seven you must run the launcher in Administrator mode. While most people assume that the default account is the admin, it is not. It is set as a primary group of Home User. You can change this in professional or above, but in the home and home premium versions of 7 for example, you need to always right click and run as admin, unless you've disabled UAC.
  16. If we have to wipe, we have to wipe. Like Tienbau said, we want to discover how some players seem to always make it to 100+ in three to four days. We know it's not "plain ole hard work" as merlin put it, because it's mathematically impossible unless you've got two or three people playing the same character in shifts. On top of this, we can see when you log in and log out, so we know that is also not the case. We discovered a few this time around and patched them. The wipes will continue until all those cheap methods are turned in and it takes an expected amount of time to make it to the end of the leveling process. (translation: the beatings will continue until morale improves! ) We don't have any intents on wiping for a while yet. We're going to be implementing the last of the major systems to be sure we have at least a workable solution before we go into any other stages of testing. Once that is all built and functional we'll look at another test.
  17. Every time the client patches, they will need to reset the compatibility modes and such. I don't know if that's happened since this post as I haven't pushed any client side patches recently.
  18. Also with it being web based, clear your browser cache of the website.
  19. a mission being reset doesn't revert the hull upgrade but I'd have to know the mission title to know whether or not you're qualified to take it.
  20. My thoughts in bold, obviously. Convenience leads to boredom. There has to be something to keep people from staying at the same camp indefinitely, thus ammo it is. Dear god man... you sound like.... william.... shatner.... If you want to convince Riia and Aschera to change such a thing you're going to need mathematical proof that it's a small change, not an impassioned argument.
  21. Not remotely cl:)e to upset, Great ways to communicate don't come up instantly, after all. What in particular were you concerned about in your original post? Was it in regard to this thread? Didn't Tienbau already make some adjustments, is it still bad? Why is it still bad? Is it not this issue, but another? Also, I like to think of it like it is Mad Science. You totter about the lab and do odd experiments to see how they work. It's hard to give insight prior to having an experiment, especially if YOU are giving it to the test subject, eh? =)
  22. If we have a need to communicate a change like that, we do, otherwise it's a patch note. The only time we NEED to communicate such a thing is if we're afraid the change will cause technical problems, otherwise similar to what Tienbau said, things are a work in progress and it'll take time before you see what the final state will be. There's no reason to get worked up over it As far as this "like live" business goes: The original goal of this project was to have a working server. We're trying to keep it like live where we can sure, but there are some cases where the mechanics of live were broken for whatever reason. In those cases, if we identify them, they will be fixed or replaced with something that does work and makes the game more interesting and fun. We cannot make a carbon copy of live, it can't be done, as there wasn't much documentation available we've had to do a lot of improvisation. We cannot trust "I remember x and y being like z!" as a means of implementing a system. For those of you that want a carbon copy of live, your only hope is to beg EA to restart the servers they have or give us every bit of documentation they had on it. We have done almost everything you see now based on documents and data captures that we had, many others (i.e. most of the missions) were created from scratch because there was no existing documentation. In regards to the rationale for the changes, is there a specific change you're referring to or is this a gripe? (I notice you didn't point at anything specific). If you want to know, ask, and we'll try to enlighten where it doesn't endanger the story or surprises we have planned for you. That's all I'm gonna say on this particular sub:)ct.
  23. I refer to data that I do believe I read in the Star Wars Encyclopedia they released way back when. I read it cover to cover a few times as a child. It has been a long time though, so the memory could be slightly foggy. I'll look later. Remember guys, I want to see you examine how your idea for change would affect the OTHER classes too. You're not gonna get an ubar (spelling intentional) scout. It is an explorer class and will never be a mainstay in combat in terms of damage. As it stands when we go to balancing depending on the DPS they may still end up being reduced and weakened in that respect. Time will tell.
  24. You're right, I did, unfortunately 1 of them will be puny, because it's meant for the ground, it was a standard laser. It'll be incapable of doing much damage to a starship. The other missile launcher fired missiles that were so large they only had room for about 6 or so of them without going back to the base. Let's see, that leaves us with 3 active weapons, and one that'll be out within minutes. I guess that means I can take AWAY a weapon slot, huh? Nice try, though.
