  1. It... didn't help. I wonder if it's my router (but I doubt it).   The only thing that seems to let me play almost reliably is having packet optimisation and prototype reorder OFF. I'll leave this here for whoever has issues...
  2. I've been in Europe since mid-april. I've tried to actually play every fortnight or so.... and I've never been able to do so. About 40% of the time I can't even get past Megan, 40% of the time I can get to OMP (where I'm docked) but the client will hang if I attempt to leave starbase or stay on for more than about 10 minutes, some 20% of the time I'm able to actually fly around for one or two minutes before the client hangs. Is it just me?   Edit: I've been playing with the N7 client a bit. It would appear that with the first two boxes UNchecked and the last two boxes checked - that is, with packet optimisation and prototype reorder DISABLED, the game is fine. At this point, this post should probably be moved to tech, if it's only me...
  3. So I get called a troll and part of the problem, but once again, clarity is not provided. That's OK, I can draw my own conclusions: it's pretty evident that we operate in very, very different ways. I won't disturb anyone further, promised.
  4. Oh and, TooTall, 'there is way more than meets the eye': great, could you or someone please explain? As far as I know no NDA with EA was signed, so there is no reason not to have full disclosure. Enlighten us players, it'll be a service to everyone, I'm sure.
  5. Nope. Sorry Zackman. That is what is called a copout. And a bad one. What has been done is indubitably a lot of work. But. But, the game exists because of the community around it, right? Right. Therefore, just as you always fix bugs (nope, sorry) and listen to the players when they tell you there are things to be changed (nope, sorry), then it's equally your responsibility as devs to keep the community informed. Don't tell me it takes too much time to make a four line post 'we're on it, we're fixing it'. And don't tell me 'there's something wrong but we can't go into details' is defensible, either - as a matter of fact, it's particularly bad. As to 'we're all busy doing other things', well, perhaps then it's time to recruit other people so as to share the load and have a reasonable 24/7 coverage. As to the fact that 'the game is free and we should be grateful whatever we get', see above. Once you build a community around a project there are standards of behaviour which one really should adhere to. Not tell people 'we should be ashamed of ourselves' when noone spent ONE QUARTER of the time you spent writing your post in composing a quick note 'folks, X happened, Y is working on it, ETA is Z hours'. Since you talk about reprehensible attitudes, right back at you, kind sir. Does this make me an ungrateful sod? I'm sure I will be called as much. And I'm sure someone will question what I know of supporting a community. I have some first hand knowledge. And made damn sure that how no matter how much I got pissed when users were pushing my buttons, I kept my side of the bargain up, which was to treat the project as a work project, out of respect for all the people who contributed something to the community. Which is why, I freely admit, I'm no longer involved. I no longer have the time, though I must say I was never able to devote thousands of hours in a 7 month period to anything. Something funny to do with the way I count.
  6. So to summarise: EnB works only in 1.3.x wine, it does not install in 1.4.x and necessitates a horrendous hack in 1.5.x. OK.
  7. Hm. Trying this on xubuntu 12.10 - with wine 1.4.1 - and I get the same error 1603 with the same error that dafema has. If you note, it says that an MSI file wasn't installed. And sure enough, the game.. isn't there. Any ideas?
  8. The screenshot wasn't showing up, sorry. That is ABG, good. As of yesterday, there were none. Let me look today.... Edit: today,  by using the enb-gearlist site, I found out that the spawn is at or around 128/131 -198, which is farther .... south than I was looking. There were plenty there and I was able to finish the mission.
  9. In order to continue the mission, I need to shoot Milia fighters. The fighters do not spawn: I went up and down everywhere for three days and the only two I was able to find spawned once outside Onorom. Where can I find more?
  10. Well, I'm afraid it doesn't work. I submitted a ticket and was entertainingly told to read the text better. The reality is, the fighters do not spawn. After a few days of tries, I got two fighters to spawn outside Onorom, but that's it. What am I supposed to do?
  11. I did get it and I finished it. It was pretty easy. Reward was being able to get to a special Sundari merchant.... whose name and location I unfortunately forgot! I was lvl 50+ at the time and two <lvl50 toons that were with me did not get the message. Edit: Aha! Lydia at Ishuan. above? Thanks!
  12. I'm now officially confused. Kerr said it's optional and also said it's there until I'm upgraded again. So it would seem that one could do it at levels 10-30. But apparently not, you have to be level 30 BUT not upgraded ? And yet someone is saying you have to be 30 AND upgraded... this could perhaps be done a little better, just saying. I know, I know about gift horses, but this mission tree needs a little editing, methinks. Thanks for the pointers. I'll try before the hull upgrade and I'll try after... level 29 now.
  13. The person who upgraded my hull at level 10 mentioned an optional part of the mission with 'great potential rewards' that had to do with a 'Jenquai witch', to be performed BEFORE my next 'promotion' (= hull upgrade I assume, aka lvl 30). Is this the person on Porvenir Mons? My mission log has nothing on this and forums and people in game have no idea.     Thanks!
