  1. You bet. I do remember the FBs of old… But I also remember there were way more than 120 – 200 players on at any given time. I also remember getting those ammo comps was a crap shoot depending on who was running the show. It took hours to get a group together (towards sunset) and then if someone shot Harvey…well that’s yet another story. The only problem I have is the use of references to “This was how it was in live” this really does not float imho, I don’t remember just being able to pop into the Tado-gate to go hunt or sightsee. If this is the EMU version of a FB raid let’s call it that, it is in no way even close to how a FB was in live. So call it as it is, tell us this is how it will be in the EMU and if and when we get enough players back to have a “REAL” fb raid then we can get it to the live standard.
  2. It was discussed this morning that there is a possibility of making Ten-Gu ammo comps (still in FB) available to a single group raiding party. While this is not the ideal solution for the solo player, it may not be too terrible to get a group of six (6) or so together for an ammo raid. This I think is a fair compromise on the Devs part while still allowing for us to get the ammo needed. The Ten-Gu would possibly be located in a spot that the Master does not travel, and the loot would drop in a quantity that going this extra distance would be well worth the groups’ effort. What do you think of that?
  3. Oh, I took the poll, and spammed the chat channels to get others in here to take it.
  4. I never ever said the Devs sucked... ever. but if we are going to read between the lines, pretty funny when something only slightly negative is posted, well the old how would you like a closed test? Sort of sounds like a threat to me?
  5. Ok so even if the current weapons and their ammo were only FB loot/drops how is one to get ammo comps for the existing weapons?
  6. So what I read from this is..Lie to the Devs, they don't want to hear anything other than GREAT JOB!!! we love it and you, we all are gonna name our first borns after your alts. LOL so don’t be truthful inform the Devs only what they get right but do not let them know what they get wrong? Got it… or we are going to a closed test. Got it. Little C will be so happy!
  7. I applaud your efforts, and mostly appreciate the polls. But like I said I would love to see some word from the powers that be that they are reading them. (if only “good poll and we will consider it”) If this were the case not only would I participate in every last poll but spam all the chat channels goading all to come and take them.
  8. Actually the GMs were included because they are the front line, they can and do speak to the DEVs and I think without them we are all going to be lost sheep. The GMs catch the flack; the brunt of frustrations from the player base (read me). LOL the Devs pop in from time to time to reap the praises. I wish we all could get over our collective exuberance for having the game back and be a little more honest with the Devs. Question: Dev "Is this a good change?" (lol as if) Answer Players: "Oh yes, this is great, just as long as I can play...blah blah blah..."
  9. Does it matter? Do the polls really reflect the general player populations’ desires? Do these polls only reflect what the 10% or so that actually come to the forums desire? I would feel much better about polls if they came from the Devs or GMs, at least that way we could at least think some changes or what we suggest will get some consideration.
  10. It’s sort of sad that the powers that be can’t see this as an opportunity. Having read and participated in the PvP discussions, wouldn’t it be a great idea to have one server PvP, one non PvP and perhaps even the third being a RP server. Or not. As for the open source of the project, there was a time that the entire project and db were fully available to anyone. I remember one of the Devs was helping a school set up a multi player server for some teacher’s class project. All this less than a year ago (I could be off a bit but as of Aug. 2009) we could get the full source and current db. What happened? We don’t always get along, but for the good of the game figure out a way you can all do this dev thing so that is has the greatest end result. I know that people being people (Devs included) will sometimes get upset about one thing or another. Wouldn’t it be great if we as a community didn’t lose this individual but allowed them to make a lateral move to one of the other servers? And back?
  11. IMO I don’t really think that there should be a terrible issue with two (or more) servers. Yes, right now there are not enough players to fill a single server, but perhaps one day there may be. Remember in live there was more than one? What I find interesting is that both sides are pointing fingers at the other saying “they are the dark side”. And the funny part they both say that they are the ONE that is trying to get EnB back to its glory days. Is this common ground that may be worked on to get the two groups back together? Find a way to open a dialogue instead of sniping each other in the forums and blogs, getting together will only help us all.
  12. We have come full circle on the reporting process. I think I still have the e-mail ripping me up after reporting an issue on the ticket system. But I agree documentation is very important to track and fix issues. It’s good to see some organization is finally getting into the development process.
  13. Ok that makes sense, and totally acceptable. So status quo, we just may have to wait for help in game and if no GM is around or too busy to get to us we should submit a ticket. So as I understand it nothing really has changed, perhaps just a bad day that GM was having.
  14. Well that IS my point. GMs have saved my bacon in game more times than I care to mention. But if I now have to submit a ticket and wait for help... how does this work by the way? Do I exit the game and watch my e-mail? Or do I get an answer in the forums? In game? The ticket system may work down the road when there are fewer issues, but for the near future GMs in game and helping in real time is not only appreciated but absolutely needed. Again, it is a great setup with GMs helping in real time. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't stop this help from the GMs.
  15. If this is true for all GMs (I was told this morning that it was not) I would ask, why have GMs at all? 16. I'm pretty sure I know what most of those are and I too think there should be some restraint on the players who need to have these types of names. But... I have no clue what Hos means..lol as old as I am I thought it was Bonanza's middle son’s name.
  17. And yet another bit of bad news... http://gizmodo.com/5565259/iphone-4-delayed-again-now-july-14th
  18. I thought you may find this of interest... could be why you are having issues. http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/16/atandt-suspends-iphone-4-pre-orders-altogether/
  19. I agree, Apple charges $100.00 US ($99.00) for the privilege to program and possibly get accepted into the app store, where Android through HTC and even Sprint is currently free. The tools (depending of your choice of dev platforms) are also free. Getting an app up to the Android market is also ever so much easier. Did I mention that you don’t need a Mac to program the Android? And bonus here is that the emulator will allow you to debug/run your application on a PC. The OS is getting fun, reliable, and IMHO is better than the iPhone/iPad UI. So long way around, the applications for the Android are growing by leaps and bounds. Soon the number of apps will be as many as the iPhone.
  20. Does the change in the data plan piss you off as well? I sure hope the other carriers do NOT follow this new price gouging plan. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20006534-1.html I use Sprint and very happy with my Android and data plan. I think Android will give Apple (iPhone) a run for it's money.
  21. I know I have been very vocal in regards to PvP more specifically Open PvP in EnB. I did a Google search and found countless forum discussions on the Pros and Cons of PvP (all kinds from consensual to full on open PvP) There are several articles on the user demographics of PvP broken down into sex, age, and even the Socioeconomics of PvP players. You are welcome to do your own searches as I don’t wish to influence the information you happen to find. In trying to keep an open mind and accept that which will most likely be instituted into EnB at some future date. I decided to help in some small way, point the Devs to this information. I also (being me) will offer up personal experiences and thoughts. Note: My comments are in Italics The first is a big post, detailing with most parts of mmorpg’s in general and some specific information on how Devs handled the issues. http://www.spiritus-temporis.com/mmorpg/genre-challenges.html Griefers Developers have taken steps to prevent these things from happening. KSing Locking the encounters so that other players cannot join a fight without the consent of the initiating combatant. Marking the reward for the player or group that initiated the fight. Setting up a virtual court system to identify and punish griefers. (I think the GM system works well with the user base currently in game) Player killing Unrestricted (Open) PvP can be very discouraging to new players. Many MMORPGs handle this problem by making PvP optional or consensual. A dedicated PvP server or on a PvE server, PvP combat is limited to special circumstances (areas). A method (stated in a prior post here) Suppression levels 25% zone you can only attack a player from the opposite faction, 5% allows PvP with everyone outside your player organization (guild) location specific PvP zones Unrestricted PvP, but inflict penalties on those who repeatedly attack players who do not regularly engage in PvP. I’m not sure how this could be enforced. Some limitations are required to avoid driving away new players. Uber guilds and zerg guilds These groups can use their influence to affect game play by, for example, "owning" areas of the world, controlling the economy, or using tactics like zerging. Such forces discourage casual players. If the bigger guilds engage in PvP, the smaller guilds or solo players may not have a chance to compete for ores or hunting areas. The information below is taken almost word for word from the site I found this on. Interesting that the PvP will initially be introduced as what looks like regulated and organized PvP. http://www.wasdstomp.com/2010/01/can-you-add-pvp-to-pve-game-years-later.html Can you add PvP to a PvE game years later? EQ2 is adding PvP Battlefield of Ganak Some story line of why this is happening, or what this PvP zone is all about. Game Type: Capture the Flag Players: 6 Person Group Objective: Capture the enemy's flag located within their base and return it to your base with your flag still in place Win Condition: First team to successfully capture and return three flags wins Smuggler's Den Some story line of why this is happening, or what this PvP zone is all about. Game Type: Hold Territory Players: 24 Person Group Environment: Five spires on top of two pinnacles jutting out of a raging ocean Objective: Gain control and hold towers longer than the opposition to earn Tower Tickets Win Condition: First team to reach the displayed Tower Ticket goal wins Gears of Klak'Anon Some story line of why this is happening, or what this PvP zone is all about. Game Type: Hold the Relic Players: 6 Person Group Environment: Industrious clockwork foundry containing scientific equipment in motion Objective: Acquire and hold the relic to accrue points faster than the opposition Win Condition: First team to reach the set score wins A few closing thoughts. Chat channel(s) Most of the forums described the chat channels as more “Adult” or uncensored than what the channels are now. I think for the most part the chat channels here being 90% player moderated work well. In a PvP chat, the content and general language will be a bit more confrontational, and non PG rated. This is to be expected with taunting and challenges, even though sometimes good natured will be rougher than we are used to. Need a PvP channel with disclaimer. PvP rewards Personally I think that PvP rewards be they weapons or gear should only be usable in the PvP areas. If this is hard to initiate then this gear could be made available to the non PvPers in the way of NPC vendors or player sales. Pirates of the Burning seas gave tokens as rewards for kills, these tokens (general currency addition) could be used for ships, special items, even books (prints for gear). Player Base I can’t remember if there has been any poll of players on their wants or needs for PvP. I know there has been some forum polls, but not all of the users respond or read the forums. Perhaps the GMs can do an informal head count and ask in game? It seems that instituting PvP will require some work. If the users that don’t want PvP far outnumber those that do, the Devs time should be spent on getting the new sectors open, and fixing known bugs. (I know volunteer Devs, so what they do or don’t is up to them) These polls can be held as many times as anyone thinks as the game progresses. Hope this has been a little more positive than my other posts.
  22. Well as upset as I was on some his personal attacks on me. I have not done any neg. reps. I think I may be due to hit a couple though
