  1. Has there been any further discussion amongst the DEVs about this? Inverness is currently filled with these roids, and it's getting to the point where mining there is almost pointless.
  2. Unless something's changed since the startup of ST4 all build skills are in except reactors. Or at the very least I should say my JS is only missing Build Reactors, I don't know about anyone else.
  3. The problem with this idea though, is humans are addictive by nature. Back when the oops happened there was a poll asking if we wanted "triple xp for a week" since we lost our characters (there was a couple other options but the "triple xp for a week" won and that's all I can remember now)). The week became a month and eventually lasted until the end of ST3, when ST4 started I (and a few others I know) was so used to the triple xp that I had almost forgotten that it wasn't normal. My point is, it doesn't matter that this is a stress test or not, once people get used to the raised xp they begin to want it all the time, into the next stress test, Alpha, Beta and then into Live. I say no to raised xp, break the addiction, even if there's another accidental wipe.
  4. *points up* probably a clearer way of saying what my original post said
  5. I have no problems reading it, but what's been failed to realize is that not everyone here is from an English speaking country and/or English is a secondary language to them so looking at scrambled words like that might just throw them into confusion (much like I get when reading Growlz's posts ).
  6. First off I want to stress this is not meant to be a complaint merely a question. Can we please have an update? Last I heard, on Marco's blogspot dated January 26, was that Build Reactors and Fold Space were going to be added in a patch expected Friday the 29th. I know it hasn't been a week yet, and I don't mean to sound impatient, but it's getting harder and harder to hold back skill points for when we do get those skills. Eh, I suppose I can start running my JD in the meantime, but some communication would be much appreciated.
  7. Sir Boss, I think the reason it would get annoying is this: If the person plays anything like me, they clear a field, get the field cleared bonus, wormhole to another location and start working on another location, clear that, wormhole to another location, clear that, then go back to the original location, by one person holding up the field clear bonus (especially if the other person is counting on it) it throws off the other person's whole plan. As far as the accusation of cheating goes, I don't know, perhaps (s)he's one of those that doesn't believe in multiboxing, but unless the DEVs say concrete "absolutely not" the majority of people don't consider that to be cheating.
  8. wow, if it's that easy I'd say go for it TB, but then again, that's just my opinion.

    Gate Wars

First off, I just want to say, I'm not frustrated. I take all criticism (constructive and destructive) with a grain of salt. But I do want to add a responce to your sentence: "I'm not sure how revisiting historical battles would fit into a game environment that moves with a story." How does the lvl 50 Jenquai hull upgrade mission where the player has to visit all the memorials fit? I know there's a few people here that are not from the United States but for those of us that are (and some that aren't) I'm sure you've heard of Civil War re-enactments or even Renaissance Fairs? "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." My idea would provide PvP'ers to have their PvP while only temporarily inconveniencing those that are strictly PvE. To be totally honest, I am terrible at PvP myself, but feel we all missed out on some rich story line by coming into the game post-Gate-Wars.

    Gate Wars

would probably involve messing with the client so probably a no-go, still it's something I think would be kinda cool.... As a special (rare) event hold re-enactments of major gate war battles and allow player participation (ie: PvP in those areas only). Of course if this were to be implemented announcements would have to be made where everyone can see it days in advance so low level toons would avoid these areas (Jupiter in particular). It'd have to be limited by the participating toon's race, as I recall the history the Jenquai had to fight both Terran and Progen fleets. I know I'm dreaming but perhaps if these re-enactments ever happened, gating into the disputed sectors would temporarily grant the player access to the gating toon's racial capital ships. The way I see it is like this: A Jenquai Defender gates into Jupiter, Jove's Fury does not exist, but Jove's City is not in ruins, the gates to Europa, Ganymede and Io do not exist (Jenquai hadn't split into Sharim, Sha'ha'dem and Shinwa yet). The sector's a major war zone and the JD is now piloting a ship that has the best of all features the three factions would later split (Psi-shield, Fold Space, Jumpstart, Shield Charge, maybe Summon as a couple examples wormhole was intentionally left out because leaving the area would turn off the event for the player). Of course, for all Jenquai players, this would be a losing battle because it wasn't until major players like Mordane Kathrada and Varen Aragotha showed up that the Jenquai had even a glimmer of hope. I just think it'd be a fun event with no real point except to teach a little "history", perhaps by participating one could gain a certain amount of exploration and/or combat xp for all their toons (I would just like to see the battle, but some players would probably need the incentive to participate). Like I said, it'd probably involve messing with the client so it probably wouldn't happen, but I thought I'd just throw it out there to see other people's opinions.
  11. I found this site back in August last year and when I joined up I knew none of my characters were permanent. I don't remember if there was a post or an announcement or what, but I remember reading that there WILL be wipes all along the way until we get to live, most of them are planned but there are occasional "oops" moments. When that accidental wipe happened and the xp multiplier started, I posted that I'd be willing to "endure" hundreds of wipes if it meant the Devs could get this game that I love back up and running properly, and you know what? I still say that. Kangaroo wants to leave, let him leave and go cry in the corner we got enough devoted players to keep this going. Besides I'm sure I'm not the only one telling my friends about this game, trying to get them on, so I doubt we'll run out of players any time soon.
  12. hehe yeah Breakin the Law Breakin the Law sorry, had a Beavis and Butthead moment when I read that
  13. First off Praetorius IS a GM, I just haven't seen him online for a while (wb Praetorius). And what I believe he is referring to is rule #2 of the thing that pops up after you hit play on the launcher... "General Rules 1) You may not harass, threaten, embarrass, stalk, or cause distress, unwanted attention, or discomfort to another player. 2) You may not use any offensive, sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable remarks." Although, Praetorius, while my personal opinion is that a lot of things have been allowed that shouldn't have, I think taking that stance on euphemism's is a bit harsh. What's next? A ban on acronyms? There goes WTF, SNAFU, FUBAR and a whole bunch of other "words" that have now become commonplace.
  14. out of curiosity have you ever used, or seen in use even, a Plasma torch? Metallic hulls really wouldn't stop it much more than flesh
  15. I did play Eve very briefly, probably 3 months at the most, but I don't remember the name I played under, sorry

    Wow!

I agree it looks like I'm trying to link an image, but unfortunately I'm not, and it only shows up in posts I try to edit
  17. Stoop

    Wow!

and can someone please tell me what the heck is going on with every time I edit one of my posts I get that random nonsense interjected where I edited and at the end?
  18. Stoop

    Wow!

I, like many people, haven't bought an EA Games item since sunset and I know the general populace's hatred of EA Games, but I think investing in the complete Command and <qtlend></qtlend>Conquer package might be a good idea for in game history. Examples? Terran Scout starter area is littered with GDI ships, Global Defense Initiative was a faction in the Tiberium series of C&C. Tiberium is a minable resource. GDI and Brotherhood of Nod decals are available in the character creator. And the last piece of evidence I have: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrin (like all Wiki's it's long winded but if you actually read through it and compare it to what you remember of the V'rix in live I'm sure you'll find quite a few similarities). I'd even go so far as to say that a lot of the Jenquai technology was stolen from previous encounters with the Scrin (see the technology section of the above Wiki). <qtlbar id="qtlbar" dir="ltr" style="padding: 0pt; display: inline; text-align: left; line-height: 100%; background-color: rgb(236, 236, 236); -moz-border-radius-topleft: 3px; -moz-border-radius-topright: 3px; -moz-border-radius-bottomright: 3px; -moz-border-radius-bottomleft: 3px; cursor: default; z-index: 999; left: 145px; top: 35px;"><img class="qtl" title="Copy selction" src="http://www.qtl.co.il/img/copy.png"><a title="Search With Google" target="_blank" href="http://www.google.com/search?q=&%20"><img src="http://www.google.com/favicon.ico" class="qtl"></a><img src="http://www.babylon.com/favicon.ico" title="Translate With Babylon" class="qtl"><iframe id="qtlframe" src="" style="border: 1px solid rgb(236, 236, 236); display: none; background-color: white;"></iframe></qtlbar>
  19. I was raised by members of an extremely religious cult and when I broke out I swore like a sailor, so I can kinda see both sides here. The thing is I've always kept a highly trained "brain to mouth (or in the case of chat: fingers) filter", I could be hanging with friends, cussing up a storm and the second an elderly person or child walked in the room I'd instantly switch to "clean speech" while keeping the mood the same. <br><br> <br><br>Essentially, what it all boils down to this: At no point in time should one person invade upon the rights/comfort level of another. This includes swearing AND harassing someone because they swore. Sure, slip ups occur, but when they do is an "I'm sorry" or "I apologize" or even just "sorry" totally out of the question? And to those that MUST say something to the swearer.... Say it once and be done with it.<br><br>I feel I must point out that I was one of the no names online that night and from what I saw of that whole conversation/argument it was those defending the swearing that kept the conversation going for at least 1.5 hours (I say at least because after that I gave up and turned off New Players) thereby affecting MY comfort lvl.

    First!

While I don't remember the full story of how/why the V'rix invaded and the war started, I'm pretty sure it started like most wars we/they have something they/we want (and I'm pretty sure it's more than just Mordanite) perhaps food, technology or even maybe one of the class leaders has a baby V'rix as a pet (sounds like that *&^%$ DeWinter if you ask me) and the family wants it back. As far as your suggestion: "allow quite a few months before the V'Rix even begin to think about whether or not to go to war." I don't think that's going to happen and here's why: You live in the US, suddenly the US is swarmed with heavily armed persons from both Mexico and Canada, don't you think the United States government is going to send out troops to hold them back? Eventually somebody fires the first shot and guess what happens next? War. As far as the economy goes, you probably won't be able to sell them any trade goods. Likely the human races would have put a trade embargo on the V'rix and could set up patrols to inspect cargo holds. Likely, the only stuff the patrols would let through would be resources and junk loot (actually resources probably wouldn't be allowed in a real war time scenerio, but I listed it for those miners that like to keep their resources in their hold while they look for more). Now on the point of faction: In my personal opinion, the Jenquai (at the very least the Sha'ha'dem) are less likely to to shoot first, they might try to investigate why the V'rix invaded and attempt a peaceful resolution. Back in Live I compared the races with "the main players" in Star Trek: The Next Generation (Sha'ha'dem = Vulcans, Shinwa = Romulan, Terrans = Humans, or maybe Ferengi surgically altered to look hu-mon, Progen = Klingon and the V'rix were kinda like the Borg).
  21. https://enb-emulator.com/index.php?/topic/167-jenquai-seeker/ this idea seemed to please a couple people, but I had one addition so as to no make the JS too powerful:
  22. perhaps my first post in this thread and everything after should be moved to the newly created "Suggestions" board?
  23. I'd say even if the JS had a Hull Leech kind of skill that you would still have to take down the shields, just as if you would in normal combat, perhaps you couldn't activate the skill until the opponent's shields were "critical" status or something like that
  24. had one of my odd brainstorms, JEs have shield leech, JDs have energy leech, what if JSs had a type of hull leech (kinda like nanobots eating away at the opponents hull), maybe the nanobots could repatch the JS's hull, but that's up for debate. I think it'd make a very nice combat skill.
  25. Currently mining in Adriel Prime with my TS and it seems the floor & ceiling is somewhere around +/- 9.5 on the z (or at least that's were the warp anomaly seems to start). Another sector I've noticed this in is Inverness but offhand I couldn't tell you where that one's floor & ceiling are.
