  1. Devices, reactors, engines, shields, weapons, & trade goods, as well as some types of "junk" loot do not stack.  Components, stack, usually to 240, I don't think different percentages stack though.  I don't think comps made by different players stack either, but I'm not sure on that one.  Comps are mostly going to be 100% or 200% quality.  Some "junk" loot & miscellaneous items will stack, but sizes will vary.  Ammo stacks as well, again stack sizes vary.  PM ammo gets "Superior" where manufactured by goes, so that PM ammo will stack with PM ammo.  Vendor ammo and PM ammo don't stack with each other (I may be mistaken on that one.)

  2. From the original, unfortunately, no.  You can; however, go places in this version of EnB that weren't in the original.  In addition it's possible to be a Scout, Seeker, or Privateer, by following the instructions here.  There is also some equipment that wasn't in the original as well.  We're early in the Storyline, the V'rix have shown up, but haven't done anything aggressive, yet.

  3. Cool, good to know.  I was thinking of something closer to the T.A. engines, but even if it's closer to Agrippa I'd be okay with it.  Either way, I don't think there should be a max hull or level cap to do said missions.  My reasoning being that Agrippa was around during the stress tests, beta, while anything added now, would be unusable to Jenquai characters that are already developed.  It would set back more than 2 years of work many put on said characters, whether they had to re-roll them, or start a new one.

I'm also of the opinion that each class should have at least a few things that only it can build, though the traders should get the most, the explorers in between, while warriors get the least. <- (if this hasn't been asked, it would be a nice question to add to the chalkboard thread)  It further differentiates the classes.

  4. Speaking of Smuggler's Run system, it has 2 sectors now, rather than one.  Blackbeard's Wake & Paramis.  There's a mini-raid in Paramis that wasn't in the original game, Blackbeard's Ghost.

In Sol Pluto & Charon, Mercury, Uranus, Neptune, and Venus are here, but weren't in the original, Ceres will open in the future.

Proxima Centauri (Adriel Prime & Margesi sectors), Altair (Altair III, Nostrand Vor, and Nostrand Vor Planet), and Castor (Ishuan, Menorb, and later Nebiros) are new systems, they're the newb systems for the Scout, Privateer, and Seeker respectively.

In 61 Cygni there's Moto which wasn't in the original.  Moto can be accessed through Aganju if you have sufficient Terran Alliance faction, and can be accessed from Altair III, if you have sufficient Progen Combine faction. (-1999 or better if I recall correctly)

Job terminals don't have timers like the original (an improvement IMO), you can get up to 6 at once, and all terminals are like the ones in Aragoth Station, was in the original.  In the original Aragoth Station offered jobs from multiple factions, while the other bases only offered jobs for the starbase owner's faction.

  5. The Progen have Agrippa, the Terrans, the missions for the Terran Advantage line of engines.  Can the Jenquai get something comparable (if they don't already)?  Perhaps where the JE gets a mini line of devices, the JW a mini line of weapons, and the JT a mini line of reactors.

  6. Since Live started I've found 2, both in VT along the path of fire (L7 aa Gahkur Ys & L8 aa Gahte An Ne) .  The AA drop rate has been reduced since then.  I can't say for certain, but I think you'll likely have to mine rocks or hulks of a level similar to the level of AA device you are looking for.

There is likely no "good" spot to find AAs, IMO there shouldn't be.  I don't think you can do much to increase your odds of finding AAs more than increasing how much you mine.  If you go on a quest to specifically look for AAs you're probably more likely to find frustration.  If you find one don't be surprised if you were looking for something else at the time or just casually mining.

  7. My PE got shot at there (VT at gate to Fenris) within the last few days, didn't see the turret do anything about it.  Fortunately she's a little past L100 & had plenty of shields, but it would suck to be a Jenquai doing the L30 promo bonus mission, and get shot at the gate while travelling to Fenris Prime Observatory.  Undock from Nostrand Vor, expect to get shot at by the mobs that hang around the station.

Maybe it's an intermittent thing, where it only fails some of the time.

  8. Granted it's from wiki, there is some more information if the system IRL here.  Since it's got a stronger stellar wind & greater magnetism than Sol, it would be interesting to have areas of Radiation both regular & EM.  Being a type K star it should be orange.  Say a sector for at least one of the asteroids belts, with good mining, and an asteroid background.  Obviously the storyline things would be in the appropriate sectors.

Some other information about the system here, here, and here.

  9. In the build terminal, under devices, drones are mentioned.  Can those be done in a way that  would not be bad for the game?  Would it be more trouble than it's worth?

I can't remember if it was ever addressed, so forgive me if it has.  Is there something that can be done for irreplaceable items if their quality is damaged?

When Loony's special gizmoblatsit is introduced, via Lyle's missions will it be 200% quality as it was in the original game?  It's the only no manufacture device that I'm aware of in the original game that could have higher quality than 125%.  Was a mission reward and no trade.

It keeps balance by not allowing drop only items have their quality improved above 125%.

Thanks, I'd forgotten who brought it up, best idea I've heard on the matter of credit sinks.  So far it's the best idea in that it's not unbalancing, gets players to spend credits, and doesn't hurt lower level players.  In addition it may even reduce some camping, since if you can repair an item you already have, no point in camping it for that 125% quality of the same item.

Some of the future missions, in aggregate, will take some credits out of the economy at least for explorers, such as the MCP, Heal the Shear, and Lyle MacDonald's missions.  It's small amounts of credits, mostly at the refine terminal, but small things add up.  It may be the better idea to have more missions that take small amounts of credits out rather than fewer that take large amounts of credits out.  The rewards can then be smaller and are less likely to unbalance the game.  Some of those already exist, expansion over time, may be a good idea.

  11. Lack of use for credits for the most part, for high level players.  Quality repair would be an example for higher level players.  Lower level players would have little, if any, use for quality repair.  Lower level players would just use the equipment that's been dinged until they get their next equipment upgrade.  I don't think that earning credits should be any more difficult than it already is.  There are good places in game for credit farming, and I think those should stay, but there needs to be more things to spend those credits on than there currently are, in my opinion.  I think this applies to characters that are L150+.  Players that are L140+ and have CL50 can start getting their top level equipment at that point, depending on how they spent their skill points, but once they've gotten their "basic" endgame equipment, they'll mostly barter for the better things.  Even getting said "basic" equipment it's a matter of gathering the resources to make said items, and bringing them to a builder, as the norm seems to be supply your own parts/ores, and find a builder.

  12. Given this thread I thought it might be a good idea for the players to come up with ideas that get players, especially high end ones, to spend their credits.  An existing one is the build quality grind for those characters a player intends to build with, it's a one time thing for each building character, after which it's no longer a credit sink.  I don't think it's a good idea to make the building players repeat this grind or extending it.

Quality repair has been brought up in the past as an option, and IMO, it's probably one of the best ideas I've heard, though the details may need to be worked out.  A large sum of credits (say 100M) for 1-5 percent quality, was one of the best I'd heard (cant remember which poster brought it up).  Max quality would be 125% for such items, unless it's a mission reward that's issued at a different quality.  The only non-manufacturable thing I can think of from EnB Origins that was like that was Loony's Special Gizmoblatsit which came at 200%.  Was a nice buff for explorers, long/fast tractor, scan, & signature.  Obviously this would not apply to PM items.  In nearly all cases it wouldn't make sense anyway as rebuilding the item would be the easier path.

Agrippa also has credit requirements, but other than state II with an invite that only really applies to the Progen.  It's an idea, however, to base other such missions on.  Such missions would have to have rewards worth the time & credits spent, but it's a possibility on which to extract credits out of the players.  The hardest thing would be figuring out the rewards so that it's worthwhile for the players to do them, but not such that the rewards are too powerful for game balance.

  13. Both my characters have been reset to level 0, and all my equipment is gone, my ship has also been set back to starting level, but when I look at it in the space station it looks the level it used to be.

How long since you last played?  If it's been more than a couple of years then it may have been because of the player wipe that occurred back then between beta & live.  Can't remember exactly when the change occurred though.

  14. That's a good idea, especially if it rewards explore XP.  Explore XP is the least available form of XP for traders & warriors, yet everyone needs to keep it from falling behind the other 2 types of XP.  Please put (or link to) this in one of the chalkboard (dry erase board) threads in the Player Advocate forum, so Alurra can bring it to the devs' attention.

  15. I'm more of a fan of the lotto method for the rewards.  In such a system the people who are new to the raids, but participate, have a shot at a drop more quickly.  I'm reminded of Serinna's public fishbowls in the closing months of EnB Origins on Andromeda.  Being the looter for a raid is pretty awesome though, done that a couple of times, and often got 2-3 overdings doing so.  One raid I'm looking forward to, but didn't do in the original, is the one (Scooter I think) where the SS8 drops.

I do agree with the premise of needing credits for things, since right now our economy, for most items, is mostly barter.  I'm not sure this is the best way to do it, but it's a start for coming up with ideas of making credits useful.  Thanks for bringing it up.
