Only thing EA should do is release the damn code so the EMU Devs wouldn't have to sidestep the hooks in the client with their proxy launcher.  Alas don't ever see it happening so we make do with what we got.  The legal giant sleeps, the game will never be its original potential as certain things are still missing to date, and of course there are certain things in EMU that weren't in LIVE.  I'd love to see some of the things missing return but pretty much given up hoping they do.  Because the EMU Devs are limited without being able to have full access.  Not their fault either just statement is all, they've done great work.

Answer to Gunney's original question.  Life getting in the way, busy at work (coincidentally I work for the company in discussion thru this topic ;) ) and content.  Can only do the same stuff over and over so many times.  This isn't a dig at the DEVs (used to be one once upon a time here).  Games can get stale after while, so sometimes breaks are necessary.  I took a break came back to some new (old) stuff was finally added in and I played through that, did some raiding, hanging with people and once repetition kicked in again, kinda got dull so took a breather.  But mostly work life is the main reason I don't get on hardly ever.  I travel Sun-Thurs every week, and super busy road warrior.

     

    Heck I even contemplated taking Kyp's offer and rejoining the DEV ranks.  But alas I'm not able to devote the time I'd want to.  I do hope others take up the offer and create new stuff.  Maybe little more down the road.

So I recently updated my Forum account name, I thought it was just the display name people would see me by.  Apparently this changed my Net-7 portal account and wacked everything up.  While relinking all my accounts I incorrectly linked an account.  I would like to unlink it if possible so it can be linked to the other forum account, and vice versa with an account on there.

     

    Please let me know who would handle this so I can submit the account information in a private message and not post publicly. 

  4. 3 Toons now all gating, docking and landing on planets fine.  Except Primus (Pr12t4r35m M4ns - Pl1n2t Pr3m5s) in Vega...  Something going on with this sector/zone?  Was trying to do some new (to me) missions but all toons keep hanging at the loading screen for this planet. :(  Submitted GM Ticket for the first 2 thought it was just them, but now 3rd toon stuck all separate accounts.

  5. Put all raids on a trigger, eliminate the current timer rotation.  Then you put requirements that the trigger man is L140+, and a timer on the trigger man like the Fishbowl or whatever you wanted them to be that is just an example.  This eliminates the Big 3 rotation, and opens events up to anyone willing and able to build a trigger and assemble a group to accomplish it.  What does it introduce?  The possibility of true griefing (someone showing up and purposely attempting your raid trigger who was not otherwise invited). And people with multiple toons allowed to side step the timer on the trigger man by having another trigger man.  But that is risk factor in my opinion seems more logical from an entire playerbase standpoint than the current model, if they spent the time to acquire the trigger parts, arranged to have enough able bodies to take on the raid, then so be it.  Oh the other area of contention would simply be people having to wait for one to finish before another could be triggered, this is due to game design unfortunately.  Nothing is going to be 100% perfect when dealing with a design flaw from many years ago and the inability to modify that.

     

    Other games have solved this problem with instancing their raids in a similar fashion upon first boss kill.  Individuals who enter the raid are then timer locked out of the raid for that duration.  I doubt EnB has the code to accomplish this and would require major modifications which I doubt will occur.  Hence the recommendation for triggers as that is a mechanic and capability currently in game (it would just require the build of the trigger missions and items if you will much easier than full game code modding).

    Net-7 indicates these are not currently dropping from mobs, although multiple toons have them mapped.  This sometimes indicates hulk drops and/or mission rewards.  Wanted to verify if this is intended, or will be re-added as a drop in future content.

  7. Would something that just states XYZ ores can be found in ZYX Sectors be sufficient or too revealing?  That way you still have to explore the sector and if its already been plucked well keep checking, everything can be had in game with some time and effort.

     

     

    As for hulks, they we're meant to be destroyed ship wreckages.  Rarely was anything of value found within them, but alas there was some rare items to behold.  As far as the randomness or timer or whatever you wish to refer to it as you have to think of it as such.

     

    Draw a circle on a piece of paper, the paper represents your sector, the circle represents your ore/hulk field, the circle has a few variants that can define the spread pattern lets call it circle/square/scatter patterns.  Now that defined circle holds your parameters for what lies within your circle (hulk/ore field) you populate the list with assets (ores/gases/hulks) level based objects.  Now you have a defined pool of those level based items kept within a database table that the random generator pulls from and those are controlled with percentages (and the code/algorithm).  There really isn't much randomization outside of that other than the percentages of what item from that defined list populates those circles with.  The game is simple and not as advanced like a modernized game that utilizes procedural generation to create a sector/zone and things within it with randomization as apposed to static.  E&B is very static and simplistic (draw back of the game design from what 15 years ago?) she's old and holding up given the circumstances.

     

    Now weather or not the DEVs have the ability drastically manipulate the code base I dunno, I would guess not so much.

  8. Redd, the Lv 8 Sentinel's Dynamo reactor is a Mordana drop.

    Wrong reactor Syber...  Its a Blacksun Reactor that isn't dropping and never was a Mordana drop those were the Juggernaut and Vulture reactors with the Griffon added for the PP .  Currently no one builds this reactor either.

    This reactor was part of the other Blacksun series of reactors all from the drones around the gate navs in live and ST4., the last on this list has since changed locations (I get it things change)

    I was just inquiring if this was intentional and if so why (usual answer is storyline/release but that would mean none of these should be dropping then but 3 of the 4 do and 2 of the 4 are in the correct locations to Live standards, one isn't and one doesn't drop at all.

    Ya not since EMU Live but they did drop in EA Live and EMU ST4.  I hope I got the right Mob name (the one at Dragon Nav Point Sahn or whatever (near the gate to Paramis in BBW) not the Controller Raid Prototype one

    L5 Bricole Max Missile Launcher - Not dropping (DB says so) used to drop, plenty of builders have printed could this get turned back on was from a Rogue Progen in Endriago L20something

    L8 Amethyst Annihilator Beam - Used to drop in BBW (Live and ST4)  I wanna say it was the Prototype Alpha drone (not the Troller raid one the single one on lengthy timer)

    L8 Sentinel's Dynamo Reactor - Used to drop in BBW (Live and ST4) off Drones higher level ones (escapes me right now) along with the other reactors off the drones at the drone navs around the gates

  11. i think i know for which group/hulks/item you are referring to Redd.

    As for keeping the hulks open i believe they are on a macro and its the time when their cargo is full so they cant pull more.

    If you see that again i suggest contacting them and if they don't respond report them.

    I didn't even think of it being Macros to be honest, as they would log in immediately within a few moments to spawn, mine and log out usually, the holding the hulks open I think was more to extend the respawn timer within a more suitable schedule for themselves (but that's just me speculating) It could of been a different reason altogether.  Again I just accepted the challenge and eventually got what I wanted from the hulks hehe.

  12. If Ores/Hulks are in the Non-Explorer starting sectors, I would have to say someone wasted time setting that one up.  I mean the only logical reasoning I could think of would be for graphical effect say a Gas Field for game immersion for example.  Other than that, why bother configuring and placing a field.

     

    It's not like EnB uses procedural based rendering of the systems, its very basic in how it is done.

  13. Question, so there are only "5" people going after the Child apparently.  Has anyone in this thread who is commenting actually gone out and tried?  Sitting in the station complaining you can't because someone else is already doing it is weak IMO.

     

    I'll caveat that with I was able to acquire enough BoLs (competing against those 5) with little or no hassle.  And I will even go as far as saying 3 outta those 5 times I was the only one there, the other 2 was 1 or maybe 2 people.  Most often just showing up randomly or passing through sector.  Or heck even finding some parked and setup camp.  Usually a sign of something might happen there, so sit around fire your guns and see what happens is what I do.  

     

    There was one time I had the Child engaged all by myself and was only on my JE, think I was around 40% damage into the Child and someone who will remain nameless decided to warp in zap the Child with their JD.  When I sent a message to individual, response was, well someone KSd me so I'm KSing you.  Shook my head and went about my day because that's just petty.  Now if we both had engaged at the same time sure competition, but I'd usually be a gentleman if I saw you already engaged and I just arrived and even saw damage on the mob before bothering to shoot or at least back off.  But alas in the past and over it.

     

    I'll present another example.  5 people from a specific guild were hoarding a certain group of hulks to the second on the respawn timer and even locking hulks open.  Did that deter me from trying? Nope, and guess what it took me less than a week of trying and I acquired said item in this particular grouping of hulks and map it.  So I'm happy!  Did it bother me I had to compete against those 5 every time?  A little bit but just made me try harder.  Makes me wonder if they have actually gotten it yet.

    Umm, and just as a side note, this thread serves to facilitate and confirm questions about whether items drop or not.

    While participation is encouraged and willingness to help is appreciated, WHERE and WHAT MOB is never discussed.

     

    Any more drop locations posted in the course of discussion here will result in the thread being locked.

  15. In original live there wan't a TS yet. But the PS couldn't build ammo, that's a new skill for this version of EMUlive. The PS and the TS are better with their respective weapon type. The PS can get to L9 projectiles and the TS can get to L9 missles, but they were real dependant on having ammo built for them. For them to be combat effective they needed stacks and stacks of ammo in their vault, built by other players, since they couldn't "build on demand" as weapon builders could. As miners having a vault full of ammo is counter productive, they need that room for all the ores they are mining.

     

    So, since a new skill has been added to each class that wasn't in the old live (at least were the explorer classes are concerned) the JE got a extra layer of WH's, what was the PS and TS to get for that extra skill set? They decided to add the skill ammo construction to the 2 explorers that needed ammo for that skill. They didn't want the skill to foreshadow what other classes had in the weapon building dept. so the explorers can only do ammo.

     

    They still have to add some skills to the other classes. If you count out the skills available and the number of SP they have to spend to max out what they have, you will see there are holes in a couple of the other classes, there has been threads concerning what thise skills should be. Got an idea? Sharpen your pencil and scetch out what you have and post it!

     

    The PP for sure has a glaring skill missing, they need a top tier skill to spend points on, the PW/TS/JD/TT/JS have at a minimum lower tier skill missing.

    The PS had a method to build ammo in live granted it was just a single type of ammo, they could technically build ammo :)  Not on the level of the skills we now have that are an EMU addition.

  16. Some players were asking for low and mid level mini-boss raids, that kept within the story line. They got it....

    Not sure if that was reply to me Phorlaug, by no means was I against the content.  Just against locking out of content was all, heck I like to do missions and read the story/chat, chaps my hide when an NPC won't talk to me because I'm to big for my britches lol.  Take Fallout 4 for example newer released game, it is about choices but by no means does it lock you out from say being L50 and wandering into another town to find a mission you could/should have done at say L5.  Granted the reward is meaningless at that point (no XP/item worth using) but witnessing some aspect of the story still is.  That is all I meant.

It's real simple (not saying the task to do it is super simple but doable) turn all the raids into a triggerable raid.  That way its just a matter of gathering the necessary method to trigger and queuing up your team to take the raid down.  Guild or non guilded.  Yes every single raid/spawn in game can be made to trigger, to say otherwise it just plain wrong.  Now does that mean it requires work from the DEVs to be done, certainly, the whole trigger and mission, drop rates of items etc would have to be created from scratch and can take some time to do so.  There in lies part of the issue, our volunteer staff already have hands full, so its a case of rob Peter to pay Paul.  

     

    Then there is a matter of balance, in the days of Live the reason for the timer trigger was to ensure epic loots was not easily obtainable and spread out over time.  Why? Subscriptions...  Plain and simple otherwise you would get bored, quit and or complain there was nothing do to because you beat the game/acquired everything in record time.  There has to be a carrot and stick scenario here, sure we all play the game because we enjoy it, but look at how many people quickly vacate the game once they've obtained damn near everything.  With nothing left to do why stick around?  It is not like we get new content on a monthly basis (like Live was intended to be) and I'm not saying that negatively, its just a reality of volunteer staff, things take time and effort.  Heck and while Pandora's Box was opened with the allowance of Multiboxing it is a good and equally a negative setback but that is a whole other arguement.

     

    So my suggestion would bepending the DEVs would be willing to acquiesce us, would be to turn all of these timer Raids into a triggered method ala GR/FB.  As well as ensure it is balanced and not easily obtainable to include a lockout once triggered (yes ways around this but a method has to exist) otherwise could amass enough triggers for GoBB that again breaks balance.  Keep in mind the real missing Bogeril Raid in Witberg required some serious efforts to get the trigger and the raid itself required some solid tactics and focus, I would think in terms of down the road preparations the above mention of all triggered raids would get us to that mentality and maybe bring us the Bogeril Raid sooner as well (not likely as I said the whole DEV time to do DEV things is limited) I had tried to step back into the DEV seat but alas a move and some life changes has made other plans for me.  Maybe things will change but for right now I'm on the sidelines again :/

     

    Alternatively - leave it alone with the current rotation VGE,Static,BI, Public, if we want more, see about more PRS activity for now, EnB numbers are low (spiked with the Xmas break/release) but lets be real look at peak times factor out the multiboxing, and its a small footprint by any means.

  18.   Sorry already have 9 L150+ toons (1 of each) not starting over, didn't learn lessons from Agrippa mess it seems, why pigeon whole content with level restrictions?  Minimum levels I get, but this just doesn't make sense to me in such a small base of people in this EMU to restrict it as such.  Just 2 cents, would of loved to see the new work implemented alas not willing to start a 10th character for just this.

    That's a good reason to explore a new character and what it can do for you.
