Minozaiah
My roommate was trying to get me setup to play this with him, and we keep running across an error that we cannot seem to find a bypass for. Computer specs: Dell Inspiron 1012 netbook Windows 7 (let me know if you need any other information... but I don't think it applies) -- He has modified all permissions that he can find regarding Net7 and EnB both. -- Error is as follows: "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. InvalidArgument=Value of '5' is not valid for 'index'. Minozaiah
Copy your fully patched C\Net-7\bin folder over his and it'll most likely be resolved. This is a problem with a file that tells the Launcher what to offer in its drop down lists. Information from his computer copied to external hard drive and then imported to my files. New error that states: "Could not patch registry settings because of a security conflict. Run LaunchNet7 again as an administrator." All permissions have been set to "Full Control" that we can find to change. Input?
Minozaiah
Progress of sorts. No error popup now. (I will have to ask him later what he did, if you want to include this as a troubleshooting method for others... if they encounter the same issue). However. Game Crash on password entry. input? More detail needed: where exactly does he get the orange handprint and our galaxy map? If so, run the game configuration (as an admin if on Vista or Win7) If it crashes instantly as soon as he hits enter, then it could be a corrupted galaxymap.dat, which you'd find in the database subfolder instead of \bin\, just delete it and repatch it. Also, under Widnows Vista and 7, the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Earth & Beyond\release\client.exe" should be set to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP. This can be done by right-clicking the file, opening "Properties", going to the "Compatibility" tab, checking "Run in compatibility mode", and selecting "Windows XP" (SP2 or SP3 is fine). Guest Minozaiah
Issue was eventually resolved, though he might be able to explain it better. Having it set to Windows XP was default ... I believe he changed it to Vista and now I can enter the game w/ no issues (crossfingers). So many things were fiddled w/ that I'm not sure what affected which thing. But that was the last thing modified. All downloads came from http://www.net-7.org, though files were eventually replaced w/ copies of his, so... not sure if they came from the same site or not. Thats what I did with mine when I set it up was set it to vista compatibility mode and it seemed to work without any issue.
