  1. FYI - It's now working for me without VPN. I'm guessing it will be fixed for Boinky and others now too.
  2. UPDATE: I managed to get in using a VPN. So there's a workaround for you, Boinky.. and any others having the same problem... until Zackman fixes it.
  3. It's not just you Boinky. I can't get in either.. and same for net-7.org - I get an HTTP 404 error. @Zackman, any chance someone can look into this for us? Though I am guessing it's probably very late now for you guys in the US. EDIT: Sorry, it's not a 404 I get... it's completely unreachable (unable to connect).
  4. Not sure if it was up at all earlier, but it's definitely still down for me, as well.
  5. No worries. These things happen. Might be a good idea to backup the working settings if possible or make a note of them.. in case such an event happens again, then it can be fixed more quickly.
  6. Hi Kyp, I realize this is a very old post, but if you're still looking for content developers, I'm interested. I'm a developer myself, so there's one plus, albeit a web dev - I don't know much about game development. In addition, I have been thinking about creating a replacement for enbmaps.de. I posted about it under "General", because I couldn't find anywhere more suitable. I was hoping someone in the dev team could help supply nav point data for me to generate the maps with. You can find the thread here: As others have pointed out in that thread, I can scrape the data or use CTRL+T one nav point at a time and extract the data from the logs. However, that is somewhat tedious and not something I'd like to do if it's at all possible for you guys to simply extract the data from whatever native format it's in and export it to CSV or something like that. Cheers
  7. Indeed, it is down. I made the mistake of trying to switch game logins on one of my clients and it won't work now. I've got one client running and not going to close it.
  8. Thanks guys. Scraping is one idea, but more of a last resort, because enbmaps is out of date in many places. The first that comes to mind is "Roc". I am hoping that the devs have access to the nav point data and can simple export it from whatever native format it is in to CSV. Perhaps this is not possible, but I would be surprised. Let's wait and see what they say before resorting to scraping out-of-date data from enbmaps.de.
  9. Hi Dev Team, I am considering creating a more up-to-date version of enbmaps.de, depending on the amount of work involved.. I'm a web developer and thinking I might be able to do it using the HTML canvas element. However, I obviously wouldn't want to do it all manually (imagine the time involved in finding the coordinates of each nav point and adding it manually to the canvas).. Is it possible to get hold of some nav point data from you guys that I can use? Even if it's just a simple CSV file I can import. I hope you don't mind me posting this request under General, but I couldn't find a more appropriate topic. Cheers
  10. Hi everyone, I never did figure out WTF was wrong.. but recently I was forced to do a complete hard drive wipe and start fresh due to various problems on my system. And I decided to try install E&B again, just to see if it would work now... and what a pleasant surprise - it does! I didn't even have to do anything special - I simply did a default installation of the game and NET-7 client and voila! I suspect it may have been something to do with ASUS software, as I mentioned in a previous post here.. because this time I did not install anything ASUS-related on my desktop and it's fine... On the other hand, my laptop (which is also ASUS and still has the default ASUS software installed on it) is still experiencing the issues discussed in this thread. So yeah, if anyone with an ASUS machine and software experiences the same thing, try formatting your hard drive and having a clean setup without ASUS software. Not 100% sure if that's the cause, but it's the only thing I could think of. I've been playing since yesterday.. it's good to be back, FINALLY!
  11. What's with the hostility? My frustration stems from the fact that the same suggestions are presented to me again and again. Please don't misunderstand me; I am very thankful for your wanting to help, really I am. But every new person on this thread doesn't seem to have taken the time to read the whole thread and poses the same questions and possible fixes. It's frustrating. I don't know why you think I'm saying it's not my system. Of course it's my system. Obviously... I even suggested it's probably because I am running ASUS here. Did you take the time to read the posts where I said I have run this game before many times? I have installed it on a couple different machines over the years and never had any issues. Now both my desktop and laptop are ASUS hardware and having the exact same issue. So again - of course it's my side. For crying out loud man.... all I said is it's likely NOT the software (probably the hardware) because the desktop has no ASUS software - but both desktop and laptop have ASUS hardware. As for troubleshooting a random person's machine that won't work, I already stated a couple of times that I am willing to let one of the devs remote view my machine (this is the 3rd time now) and if they don't want to do that, then perhaps send me some instructions on what I can do myself here to acquire further info. For example: perhaps they have some custom diagnostic tools they run on their own systems or know of a 3rd party one.. whatever... they can suggest it to me and tell me to run XYZ to get some logs to send back to them to look at. I don't know exactly what, but there has to be something... but of course I am just 1 guy... as long as everyone else is running the game fine, stuff me I suppose. Look, I can understand that point of view to be honest, you guys are doing this for free in your spare time, so you don't owe me anything. I get it. But if there's anything you can do to help, I would be sincerely grateful. I'm in no rush, so take your time. But if 1 more person asks me if I am running as administrator or if I remembered to set compatibility mode to XP, I am going to go mental... it's getting very tiring now.
  12. Neither the game itself nor the config will run. I think it's fair to assume it's likely the same issue affecting both.
  13. OMG I feel like I'm talking in circles about this issue - it's like nobody is actually listening and keeps bringing up the same points again and again. Firstly, the config is a secondary issue... yes, it doesn't work and I have tried everything you've said and it doesn't work.. but the PRIMARY ISSUE here is the game itself won't launch!!! This is driving me nuts... come on devs, throw me a bone and give me instructions on how to diagnose this, so I can put further info here for you. As previously mentioned, I am a developer myself by trade (web developer, not game developer).. so just tell me what to do to help you help me. Come on guys, please don't ignore this issue or keep talking in circles.
  14. @Cipher, thanks... but I'm quite sure it's not ASUS software... this is because my desktop doesn't have any ASUS software on at all (only hardware) and my laptop (an ASUS ROG) does have some ASUS software, but it's highly unlikely to be causing issues. Here's what's installed on the laptop: ASUS GIFTBOX ASUS HiPost ASUS Input Configuration ASUS Live Update ASUS PTP Driver ASUS Sonic Suite Plugins ASUS Splendid Video Enhancement Technology ASUS USB Charger Plus Now I could waste my time by reinstalling without all the above, but I'm 99% sure it won't help, since my desktop has the exact same issue with a clean install and without any of that stuff. There must be some diagnostic tools or something that I can use to help me determine what the issue is. I did say in a previous post that I am happy if one of the developers wants to remote view my machine and attempt to find out more that way. Otherwise, give me some instructions... tell me what I can provide you with to diagnose this. PLEASE! Thanks
  15. @Kyp Launcher version 540 and resetting the updates made no difference.
  16. @Cipher / @Kyp Guys, please ignore the enb_up.exe thing, that was a side issue and one that I solved... please focus on the main issue here: I cannot login with the Net7 client at all. @Stranks99 may be onto something though... both of my machines are ASUS (both laptop and desktop) and he is having the same problem on his own ASUS ROG laptop. Coincidence? What can we do to get to the bottom of this? I haven't played in abouta year and a half, maybe more... getting withdrawal symptoms here LOL. By the way, you don't delete our avatars after a couple years do you? I'd hate to see all my stuff gone.
  17. @Cipher thanks for your reply. As per my original post in this thread, I did set compatibility mode to XP with Service Pack 3.. and what happened was it shows up for about a half a second and then disappears. I just tried with compatibility mode set to XP SP2 instead and same thing yet again. To answer your other questions: - sunrise.net-7.org is indeed the host name I am attempting to connect to. - Yes, it shows the number of players currently online - Yes, what is shown in "Local IP" is correct FYI - This is not the first time I have played the ENB emulator. I played it for about a year or so and had no problems. I even installed ENB and the NET-7 launcher multiple times before (after wiping my hard drive to do a complete reinstall). I am not a total noob to this and I am telling you guys something is not right here... this is not one of the normal, easy to solve issues. And as for Windows System File Checker, I really don't see what good that will do. Look guys, I have told you before that I have installed this on 2 different machines with the exact same results. Something is amiss. If you guys have no clue, I understand... debugging issues like this can be a nuisance, especially when you can't reproduce the problem yourself. Perhaps @Kyp you might wish to have a remote viewing session with TeamViewer at some point. Then you can look at my machine for yourself and help determine what the problem is. I'm in Australia though, so we'd need to organize a time convenient to us both.
  18. Further info: I completely disabled UAC and it now installed without any problems.. this is strange, as "Run as Administrator" should work fine. Can you guys fix that so the users don't have to completely disable UAC? However, we now go back to the original problems: 1. E&B Config won't run at all.. even when running as admin. And the Event Viewer shows the following: ================================================================================================= Faulting application name: E&BConfig.exe, version: 1.0.0.3, time stamp: 0x3d754f52 Faulting module name: E&BConfig.exe, version: 1.0.0.3, time stamp: 0x3d754f52 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00120b58 Faulting process id: 0x1cf0 Faulting application start time: 0x01d417479ac7600e Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\EBCONFIG\E&BConfig.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\EBCONFIG\E&BConfig.exe Report Id: 67c3f756-dac7-428f-8f7b-c253822bdf5f Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: ================================================================================================= 2. Trying to play the game still results in the following error message: And note that the whole time, both UAC and Windows Defender are disabled AND I am running as admin user.... so... go figure...
  19. Hi again, I have some more info for you... I have just done the following: - Uninstalled Net-7 - Uninstalled ENB - Restarted System - Disabled Windows Defender (switch off real time protection) - Installed ENB - Installed Net-7 Everything was going fine until the Net-7 installer tried to run the patch (enb_up.exe). Here's a screenshot: And note, I am an admin user and yes, I did select "Run as Administrator" And not sure if this helps, but I got a little more info as well by choosing to Debug it, it gave me the exception code and says it's an access violation in wkscli.dll. See screenshot: I hope this helps diagnose the problem.
  20. Thanks for the response, @Kyp. If you look at the original question (which was closed in a rather impolite manner), you will notice that it's not just the E&B Config which has a problem, but the game itself. Original issue here: https://forum.enb-emulator.com/index.php?/topic/12157-server-failed-to-respond-to-login-attempt/ You mentioned JIT debugging, that makes me wonder if it has anything to do with my Visual Studio installation and whatever related configuration changes it may have made. I have that installed, as I too am a software developer by trade. I wouldn't have thought that would cause an issue though and I know I had E&B and Visual Studio running together just fine in the past (on an older laptop with Windows 8). Is there anything I need to configure to prevent JIT debugging being triggered? To answer your questions: - No, I have not customized anything - I can't remember for 100% certain, but I think I did try reinstalling again at the time. But one thing I definitely did was install on a second machine.. but got the same result. - As for paths in the Windows Defender list, I may not have added that to the exceptions. Later today, after work, I will try a reinstall first (with Windows Defender turned off) and then also add the paths to the exceptions list and try again. If that fails, is there some install log or other error log I can post here that can help you diagnose this? NOTE: Just before posting this, I looked back at my original question and I noticed that at that time I did have AVG. I can tell you that is no longer the case - I only have Windows Defender. However, the error from Event Viewer obviously no longer applies - it could very well have been something to do with AVG at that time. But that doesn't explain why it's still not working.
  21. I would also like to note: this is on both of my computers - both of which have Windows 10 .. one is an ASUS ROG gaming laptop and the other a gaming desktop.. both only have Windows Defender for antivirus (no McAfee or other alternatives) and BOTH have "Check apps and files" off.
  22. No, I never did resolve this. I just checked my Windows Defender and I also have "Check apps and files" turned off, but same problem @Kyp, I don't have any antivirus software other than Windows Defender and I don't know what to do here... still can't get on after more than half a year... is there some info I can post here to help you diagnose the issue?
  23. @Woodstock, hi... for some reason I cannot seem to find the bug I logged yesterday. Did I do something wrong or has it been deleted? Or maybe not approved (and thus not showing) yet?
  24. Much appreciated. And FYI - I have opened the ticket in the bug tracker.
