I noticed some anomalies  around the game..   I just can't explain this one...     I normally put these up in the avatar settings in teamspeak but this one just turned out to nice to leave where people can't see it.   No it's not my new guild decal... altho...   I was warping around my desktop and found this one.. It's to bad these are copyrighted.     And the last one for the fallout game fans.   This ones for you.     Just so nobody asks the obvious question these are never going into the game.   They are only done for fun and to see what needs to be done to change specific items nothing more.   It's fun but alas.. we do not need the owners of mr magoo or spongebob or another game company coming after us so these only exist on my comp.   I just wanted to share some of the more amusing things I've drempt up and put into action.

I'd like to open a letter to the dev's and gm's.   I run Builder's Inc.   We as a guild have always been happy to assist the GM and Dev's in content work and assisting in testing things for you.   We have a problem and the problem is the rd faction and Sharim faction, and the ability to dock at Jove's and various other issues.   As one of the 2 largest guilds in the game were finding it increasingly difficult to play the content of the game.   We can't raid without feathers and the people trying to get the feathers are losing to much faction for the rewards.   We have people that are getting to the point where they cannot dock at Jove's and it's very difficult to get your Sharim trader faction.   You have the rd base raid in the game but anyone that helps kill it gets a 10,000 point faction hit what does it do to sharim faction?   I realize you guys are trying to force us to make a choice.   But do you not think that this is a problem?   Here is the problem people are using up 10,000 + rd faction and not getting a feather.   In EA live the feathers could drop off of any RD in any sector.   You are forcing people that want to play to sit idle because they can't afford the faction and no easy way to get them back.   I'm am guessing you guys are wanting us to play but the way it's setup all the hunters and builders can do is blow all of there faction to gain access to the fish raids.   Is this how it's intended to be play?   People are getting ready to do something else because they can't raid and your healer killing settings is making the healers want to quit playing?   Is this working as intended?   Do you guys want to drive your player base off and have the regular players quit?   Is this working as intended?   I'd like to work with the Dev's and the Gm's to correct the problem before people that are playing quit from boredom.   I know that is not what is intended..   I would like to solve this before it becomes a problem worse this.   Is the mining and field nerfing for rd faction and hulks working as intended?   Is it really working as intended?   You guys are driving off the players because you have stuck them in a box.   You can't turn around without running into working as intended problems.   Can we get together maybe in a sunday meeting and speak with you about the problems before it's to late to bring back the ones that quit?   We made such a good start but now it's getting like it was in the middle of st4 when people quit from not having much to do.
  4. One of my guild members BJ caught xxiled in a little griefing.   I have sent the screen shots to prrekoorb to let him deal with it as a guild leader.   This is for the gm's   The last picture is the text he sent back.    
  5. The builders decal is in but the non admirals can't use it yet.   I have it on my te but nobody else seems to be able to use it.

I had someone ask me how dps works in the game.   Being the inquisitive and nosy person I am, I got the idea that the dps listed in net-7 might be wrong.   So I wrote these xlsx files a couple years ago and tested all the available weapons to me I fired every single one of them at one point or another.   So some of the weapons might not be in the game now that we went live but the basics still apply.   I'll let you decide how to answer that question after you dl the lists then compare them to net-7.     Basic Methodology.   1.  This games Damage Per Second aka and known as dps from here on in is based in math.   The math is simple.. ammo damage (rounds fired for multi round weapons) x times fired per minute divided by 60. This is the basic formula for figuring dps in any game   Example 100 ammo damage fired 10 times in a minute = 1000 damage divide that by 60 and you get 16.666667* dps   2. This game also uses a second scale to add damage to ammo, it adds to the base damage of the ammo.   If you hover your mouse over your dots on your weapon skill bars each one lists a percentage of damage the skill level adds.   I'll use lvl 9 weapons as the example since all the dps lists are for lvl 9 weapons.   Level 9 weapon skill adds 200% added damage to the base of the ammo so with that said lets use the above example of 100 damage fired 10 times divided by 60.   100 x 3 x 10 / 60 = 50.0001 dps   Adjust the damage added % to suit your weapon level it's nice that max weapons the number is 3.. 100% damage is 2 and so on.   Beams are calculated the same way.   In beams case since the jenquai get combat cloak so double the final number, the problem is using cc how many times did you fire your beams in 1 minute..   The math and numbers for jd's gets a little fuzzy..   3. Damage Adders: Turbo and devices and skills.   Westwood live was nice enough to add damage adding devices and weapons and skills for people to use.   Intolerance, rally( for beam and pl users anyways) ssr7-9 reactors, sting-laser scopes etc all fall into this catergory.   One thing testing did was bear out a few truths.   fang/rage/ed etc added damage does work but...   The way the game was built when I wrote these lists the intolerance 39.9 buff over rode all the other installed damage adders aka pl force and stuff like this.   Activated damage adders aka the sting and laser scope and the aa devices did stack with an intolerance.   I do not know what has been fixed since I wrote these lists so get out there and play around with them.   4. Debuffers.   This catergory might be the most misunderstood part of this after turbo.   Just a brief explanation is really needed debuffers do not stack. ( except.. impact but we'll need a cdev to explain to you about that)   When you look at the numbers on a debuffer think % when you have say a lvl 8 debuffer at 200% it states 55.6 okay look at the ammo again.   The easiest way to explain this is your ammo does 100 damage and you trigger a 55% debuffer so your numbers go from 100 in the numbers that pop up to 155(-55).   The number in the parentheses only you can see.   The numbers mean the ammo had 55 damage added to the ammo base.   If you are seeing 45(+55) you are adding health to a mob by that amount.   If you see 0 as your ammo damage number you are not doing a damned thing..Best to save your ammo from that gun.   Okay this is my understanding about gravity link lvl 5-7 gravity link is supposed to debuff impact/explosive/possibly emp by +30.   I was a ps live and had lvl 5 gravity link and I used it a lot..but for the life of me i cannot remember if it added damage or not.   I remember using a lot of impact ammo live.. So maybe someone else has a screen shot or not I dunno.   It's not listed in the skill description but it was there I know it was just not for lvl 5.   It would stack with a taniwha and a gorgon for impact and it should stack with a salamander.   5 Turbo...   Let me start by saying turbo increases your weapons speed.. BUT it isn't changing it by 100%.. Remember your skill level affects damage also..   I like to think of turbo as adding damage by % to the ammo base damage aka it speeds the gun up by enough to make another 40% damage to the base which isn't 40% faster firing.   The graphics in the game can't trigger more then once a second or so.   When you have a fast firing pl that is sub 1 second reloads the graphics show 1 second firing but the gun is firing faster then that..   So don't go off half cocked if you do not think your gun is firing fast enough.. It is on the server side.   My understanding is the server is set for a maximum of 109% turbo ( same as it was live).   You can attain 100% currently in the game the way it's being run now.   The key is the buff listed on the device/weapon if it'll stack or not.   The combo to 100% turbo nirvana is petty straight forward.   Black weapons ( aka gobb weapon drops from paramis) 40% turbo non weapon specific(comes in handy on a pw with a 40% aa and a spitter and whinging missiles at things)   Installed weapon specific turbo ( aka sting bolas fotm/wrath/god etc)   Two weapons with 40% turbo pl listed do not stack.. it's 40% has to say Turbo Weapons to stack with a turbo pl.   Activated PB CVE aegis etc.   So lets assume you are fairly competent and a raider and you win the roll for something nice like say a spitter and a fotm on your progens .   First thing is the spitter 40% installed turbo (non weapon specific) will stack with pretty much any other installed turbo specific buff   Spitter 40% + FOTM 40% = installed 80% turbo   Plagues bite is 20% activated so with the spitter/fotm/pb you will have 100% turbo.   The games not setup as of this writing for multiple activated turbo yet.. Soon[TM]....   6 Skills.   This is kind of a misc list of skills and effects.   Rally states adds pl and beam precision ( aka more critical hits and in the case of non critical targeting players it lets you hit higher level mobs with more ammo vrs missing more.   Rally good..   Critical Targeting.   Critical targeting mean you hit more often critically   ps/pp/te/jd all have lvl 5 critical targeting pw's get level 7.   Critical hits in this game means you do double the ammo/beams damage when you hit critically aka the red numbers.   Take our example from earlier you are using 100 damage ammo fied 10 times a minute and it does 50 damage for lvl 9 weapon skill.   Critical simply means the 100 damage is now 200 then adding skills and buffs it goes up.   Combat Cloak.   Jenquai classes get a skill called combat cloak.   Very important skill You cloak fire your beam from cloak you get double the normal damage from beams.   Critical hits means twice that much.   Yes a jd criting does 4 times there normal damage criting from cc   CC has some limitations based on time. I'll continue this in a bit so don't go off mad yet.. I'll be back

I recently had the hard drive in my primary laptop die so I broke out broke out my old laptop..   A little history this laptop was the machine I created all of my primary toons on 3 years ago.   It's a compaq(pre h/p) presario 2100 with an intel Celeron 2.4ghz processor.     Lets see what you guys are running.    And no that's not photoshopped thats realy windows 7 on this laptop.
  8. I thought someone would have replied by now the original guild decals were removed just after we went live due to compatibility issues and to help stop the server crashing.   You need to resubmit the decal on www.net-7.org if you are the guild leader and read how it needs to be submitted.

Running the game as admin comes to mind.   Second thing is you might never have actually ran one of the configs and the test video and saved it so the settings are stored in the registry.   Why not use the net7config and leave the registry hacking to others?   You can see by my screen shot above how my screen looks.   That screen setting was on my other laptop it's 1675/985 to make it fit like that.   I'd like to see you hack your registry 20 times to get it that close and run the vid to hold the settings..   My two cents worth why work harder when you can work smarter.

I typically have my first million between level 40 and 50 doesn't seem to matter what kinda toon they all do about the same except the miners because I save my ores raw for comp building.   Trade goods early on and stackable mob loot makes money you kinda have to dedicate some time to doing the things that make money.   Debris seems to go well at low levels organic mobs with stackable loot and mobs that drop devices/engines/etc work for for me..   if you are cl 18-22ish and can handle the belters in carp/scuttle bugs they make pretty good money at low levels do you mine? How about gas mining?   Find what ores make money (archos/zet/stinger/bolas ammo ores come to mind) almost any lvl 7-9 ore has value watch the market and see what people are asking for.. raw titanium stock up on rhodite/curium etc.. what do people want??

I seem to remember I suggested to tienbau.. maybe a year ago lvl 165/group combat jobs out of paramis/bbw.   I'd have liked to seen more interaction content on the rd/chavez situation maybe add the content that could have caused their falling out and the war between the two.. drug deal gone bad tzu's daughter was kidnapped/killed etc.   I created miguel and marge chavez as alts to consider who/what/where/why/how but that idea has gone by the wayside for now till we have some independant team content action..   We have the vrix and bogerils to consider and the sectors based on that we have a point in time in the future for them.   Why not soemthing new.. Why not finish the base and gate in antares and add another level of voltoi mobs or there enemies and we have to help them.. I could think of a whole range of items they could drop and we could earn.   I do not post a lot of ideas on the forums for new content because of past bad taste in my mouth situations with various dev's and leads.   I'd like to change that a bit i get wierd ideas from time to time about stuff that could be done and just let it go because of past issues.

  13. I just installed windows 8 to try it out and the game runs fine on it. Here is how i did it. Step 1. Right click the demo of the game and run as administrator. Step 2. Install as normal. Step 3. Right click the unified installer and run as admin. Step 4. Allow it acces to the internet to install the files it needs. Step 5. Windows will want to install a updated file and you will have to reboot your comp before you can run the launcher. Step 6. Reboot your comp after installing the unified installer and windows updates it files. Step 7 Update the launcher and the game. Run the launcher and let it update and restart and update the game. Step 8. Run the game. Make sure it runs adequately it runs on this hp compaq nc8430 with the default video card drivers in 8.. 4-6 fps but it runs. Step 9. Update your video card drivers as needed. I used the vista 64bit drivers from hp in my case more modern vid cards update from amd or nvidia or your laptop manufacturer. Step 10. Setting up your screen and taskbar for windowed mode. https://forum.enb-emulator.com/index.php?/topic/6404-net7configexe-for-running-custom-resolutions/ Follow my guide about the taskbar and net7config.exe Make sure everything listed is set to run as admin/windows xp sp3 etc task bar never combine enable aero peek etc. This is the basics of running e&b on windows 8. Bonus Content I ran into a issue with windows 8 and my laptop keyboard setting. CDel and I were experiencing a problem where if we hit the " ' key ( key left of the enter key) we would get error messages Not Subscribed to a Private channel. The cure is simple. Open your control panel ( hold your mouse over the lower right corner of your taskbar (right of the clock) / click on the Gear/setting button / Open Control Panel / Open Languages(click on small icons in the upper right corner as needed to see the Languages craplet) / Click on add Language / Find, in my case, English / Double-click on the icon and find your language setting, in my case it's English (United States). Click on it and click add at the bottom right of the window. I removed the other languages (us international and english uk) and the problem went away and my typing issues went away. I get this question a lot people do not understand how to restore a collapsed window or to move a window and I get asked how.. This is how you do it I pointed out in my setup tutorial to set up your taskbar and why you turn aero peek on this is the easiest way for me to explain it.. If anyone else wants to add comments or tips and tricks for windows 8 this is a good place to put it. Maybe we can talk one of the forum mods to pin this one also since it's going to start becomming more and more important as people get laptops and new computers with windows 8 on them.

I'm doing my best to do whats asked of me..   If you have specific ideas and want to share them maybe we can work them in.   I'm always looking for new ideas and mobs to tinker with.   If you watch the information on the testvid we have for setting the game up the max polygons it lists is around 29,000   That means everything in the screen can't exceed about 30,000 total polygons in 1 scene(aka your viewport/monitor) the average hulled mob according to 3dsmax without weapons can be 1100-1500 polygons.   The sector is 6 polygons and a typical ship for us is 13-1500 polygons average asteroids are in the 150-200 range gas clouds are models with gas effects.. they have polys also and so on.   When you have say a group of 2000 poly ships (12,000 + 6 for the sector and 12 1000 poly tengu for example you are at 24,000 remember the game has a 30,000 limit now add in ammo and beams and all the stuff going on and you can quickly hit the poly count for a sector.   It's why the fish bowl for example hits the limit with 2 groups and you get some serious video lag.    It's not the video card's fault it's the limitations of the game engine itself.   Seriously to stop the lag you get in some raids try using first person or if you are a terran turn around and face away from the action.   As for adding more pretty this game doesn't use sprites..   There is no normal or bump mapping and not a lot of shiny either..   There is no specular highlights.   To say this game has rudimentary 3d graphics is generous..   I hope this answers some of your questions.   If you have more questions feel free to ask me in the game. I'll do my best within my limitations to explain this or other things to you.
  15. Friend of mine from live and a friend outside the game was working as a dev in 2009 The laptop I had wouldn't run the game so we spent 2-3 months getting it to run the emulator. My first sign in date from the old forums is july 2009 my first play day was in oct 2009 and been at it ever since.

  17. xrun textures will not cause you to lose connection. Might make your game crash but it wont cause you to lose connection. Believe me on that..

Kayjay if you open your task manager and open the left side tab(applications) right click the game exe's in the list and click bring to front restores them.\ All the files you listed are in the game install folder I use a program called Agent Ransack to find files that seem to be missing since the windows search really sucks in windows 7. You do not need to do color change or gpatch or patch the launcher handles all that for you just get the ones i listed. I just reinstalled the entire game from scratch on a different laptop and all the files listed were installed with the unified launcher installer. Follow the prompts in the installer and let it install everything it needs to. I did notice with the new launcher installer a lot of the files already have the windows xp sp3 and run as admin checked. Check all the files that I listed to make sure and leave the other ones alone.

Did I mention I never liked days for guilds .... Wouldn't take much for me to just say hell with it, kinda hoping you do argue and bicker about it.
  21. Luna you missed the point this is the second time in 3 weeks we didn't get a spawn..Any spawn. You do remember why the days were enacted it was to keep my guild from killing the bosses while you guys were at work.. We could go back to anarchy and do that again.. I know kenu would enjoy some guild wars and bloodshed..

  23. We got to discussing this last night in the market. The guild rotation days need to be changed. This was the second time in 3 weeks we didn't get a guild day raid due to non spawning bosses. The problem as most of it saw it was because VGE does there guild day late after 9pm est and with the timers being either 24 +-12 or 30 +-6 were effectively cut out of the raids. Since my guild does raids early in the day (10-4 est) I would propose a change of days. If we leave VGE monday I propose making tuesday a FFA day and move the raid rotation back 1 day for the other 3 guilds. Builders will go wednesday static thursdays phoenix fridays. If we want to keep the same FFA days then either we need to go first and probably miss the troller spawns due to non guilded members killing him. ( and I'm all right with that) and the tuesday guild needs to be afternoonish and they wednesday guild needs to be an evening guild a split day then the fouth guild gets friday. It's the only way I can think to solve the problem. Were tentatively planning a guild meeting friday night Oct 5th 9pm ish est. BI Static and VGE Know about it. Sat/sun might be a better day. We shall see Prrekoorb suggested I post this so we can get all 4 guilds involved. If you have thoughts or ideas Please post them here and bring them to the meeting friday.
