mindy, Hope it already works for you, if not read on. Hover the mouse over the E&B icon in the taskbar, then one or more thumbnail icons will pop up. Move the mouse over the popped up thumnails, and click restore (move or full-screen, depending on how you set it up). Alternately, you can use the Task Manager, right click on E&B, then select Restore. You can fix this once and for all by doing what was said in the OP: Set Compatibility mode to WIn-XP-SP3 for all executables.

Happened to my JE today, going from Saturn to Akeron. It is not a crash, it is a hang at the gate (client display galactic map), and I had to kill and restart the client. After I restarted, I had like less than 1 sec (not enough to cloak) before the mobs at the gate killed me, so I took 3K EXP debt :-( I believe this is a timing mismatch in the gate/undocking handshake. The server have received and processed the request to gate/undock, (because upon respawning, I am at tne new sector), but the server probably sent the ACK too soon, so the client is still waiting for an ACK from the server for it to load the new sector info (because it is busy displaying the animation of end-of-warp and gating). I know that we cannot change the client codes much, but I believe this can be fixed if the server codes that handle gating/undocking would just re-send the "new-sector-ACK" several times for, say, 2 secs until it receives a response from the client, and this should fix it. my ping to the server is around 120ms from tracert, if that could help. I know it is easier said than done :-)

Looks like a deadlock. not a crash, so this may take some time to debug. If it were a crash, the server would have been down

I think I got the same problem some times on WIndows-7. Just bring up the Task Manager, then right click on the E&B app, and select Restore. Or you can also hover the mouse over the icon in the task bar, then right click on the thumbnail that pops up and select Restore (or Move if you are in windows mode). Sorry, this from memory, as I am at work. It appears to disappear once I going to Property of all the execs in the E&B directory and make it run under XP-SP3 compatible mode.

I am now stuck at this mission too. I accepted the optional mission, since the rewards are nice, but now I have a chicken-and-egg problem: I need the hull upgrade in order to deal with Rolland Holmes :-( I read the in-game chat that the devs are looking into this problem. I wish that we could get the upgrade without having to complete the optional mission first, or at least have partially completed the non-combat part of the mission in order to get the hull upgrade, to allow TEs to be strong enough to deal with Rolland Holmes.

I used to play on the old E&B Live, but now in this new emu server, seems like the population is much less than before (obviously). I seem to remember someone published a list of what-drop-where for the builders to find drop for their build. (like where to find the Ogun launcher). My character was one of the few who could build the highest Ogun launcher on Orion. Does anyone know where I can find such a list? Never mind, found it. ----- [EDIT] Someone asked me what list I found. For some reason I cannot reply to the private message, so here goes. THe list from enbarsenal.com, was for the old Live E&B, and I found out that everything is different now on the Emu-E&B. So unless the devs publish such a list, we have to spend the time to compile it.
