  1. You can justify a LOT by using the storyline as an excuse.
  2. Making it Terran only and thus restricting it from the Jenquai Seeker seems a bit unneccesary. From the Seeker's point of view build engines is bad enough without Terrans having an edge at it.

  4. Zero G does not make you friction-exempt. Think of friction in engines or when flushing the zero G browny you just baked.
  5. It could vary. With a 2.5k prospect range you have at most 5k distance travelled by the roid to prospect it. The speed could probably be anything from 1 to 1000. Ofcourse they could go faster than this and still be prospectable.
  6. I have always wondered if it was possible that some roids could move around. Like the movements of the comets in endriago and that thing that orbits the red dwarf in nifleheim cloud. Only difference would be that these contain minable resources. Since you cannot mine while moving these roids would need to move fairly slowly across the sector so you can park yourself in front of their path to mine them. They could orbit planets or move from one edge of the map to the other and disappear. Why consider adding this? Well it could make mining a lot more dynamic. Miners would not only do their normal routine of fixed fields, but could also come across the odd rogue roid. Also, entire fields could move through space and will therefore never be at a fixed position - a player would need to find it. The method of mining is also somewhat different than the usual. You need to park yourself at the right spot to mine an incoming roid - not sure if this is easy or may require some skill. Ofcourse some roids could be made faster than others so your positioning needs to be better or you need to be able to mine the roid faster. Some roids could therefore be made to be farmable only by a fully kitted out high level miner. And ofcourse, if these wandering roids are more trouble to mine and find, their reward could be adjusted accordingly.

  8. What you mean has to do with the maneuverability stat and yes, ships are perhaps too agile. Suprisingly there is a buff that increases maneuverability, but with how agile the ships are already - the buff is useless. The devs may have given all ships the same maneuverability which could be how it was in live - I'm not sure. But I could imagine certain ships having different handling capabilities. A PW could handle like a tank, JT like an 18 wheeler, TW like a fighter plane etc etc.

  10. If you "really don't care that much", then why did you make this topic? It sounds more like you made this topic while enraged and have a temper which the chat logs would show. As a side note, whoever remembers how the lax the GM policing was in live. You could get away with swearing all the time and there definitely was no New Players channel police. Not saying it is bad that the GM's are stricter here. Because this game is free any scrub can join which is a good reason the GM's need to be more like the GESTAPO. But when the server population increases I think a lot of GM tasks will be regulated by players and people will generally be better behaved.

  12. Good. Can you let Byakhee do this, that way we can be sure the mission lasts till your old age and the value of the item is maintained.
  13. You would only need one colour really, that of the missions you can do. There is no need for colours showing missions of different professions, some of which you cannot take.
  14. This idea sounds great as a Jenquai Seeker skill if anything. They are masters of folding space and that profession is still missing skills.
  15. It's pathetic that he spawns on a timer in the same spot as a rediculously easy mob. The whole encounter needs to be changed, camp fests are not fun for most people as only one person walks away with the lootsies. It would be nice if he spawned in a desolated area of a random sector, then we have a more fun encounter instead of a camp-fest.
  16. Word choice can vary a lot as well. As far as I recall, Jenquai use concise English much like Lt. Commander Data and Vulcans. Also, Proconsul Kerr and that woman in Arx Spartoi had odd chat dialogues.
  17. A hint of advice to minimize the damage done by a player wipe; Use a profession you will unlikely play when the emulator goes live.
  18. Didn't some characters have chat dialogues with accents in them? I faintly remember that woman McKellan having this for one - either Sco'ish or I'wrish. Also bogeril had an accent, an inbred form of American (pleonasm? ) if I am not mistaken. It will add a LOT of flavour to some NPC's if this gets added. You just need people who know how to write the grammar and phonetics of these accents.
  19. Random skills and device buffs/debuffs would also be nice. Not too random ofcourse so you don't get something like equipment engineering on a mob.
  20. If something as innocent as cherrypicking gets to you, then you must live a life of getting annoyed at every tiny thing that does not go your way. Perhaps that is more cause for pity. True, I am out for myself. But that is what people with low social adequacy are all about is it not? As for not playing well with others, it all depends what you mean by others. If you mean a guild, I like guilds and guildies so I get along with those people. But if you mean the entire community then yes, I don't see that as an extended family like perhaps you do. Calling cherry picking immature is just namecalling. I mean, children also whine like you do and I don't call that immature, or do I? Agreed. If a developer changes the game because of the words of a single player - that would be a dark day. I still doubt it was serious.
  21. Agreed and believe me I've tried to become socially adequate, but it just seems like that part of my tiny brain is missing. As much as I would be flattered being cast in the villain role, it is not accurate. Cherry picking is done not because messing with other people gives pleasure, but because it is the best way to mine. I don't think Mr Merlin will actually do this. It sounds more like he still does not understand why cherry pickers do what they do and this frustrates him into threatening with extremities.
  22. There we go again, throwing out words like 'narrow minded' in a discussion - all because there is nothing else you can say. Sounds like you want the 'don't ask don't tell' method. As long as I stay closeted about my beliefs there will be no consequences? Now who is being unsociable. You want to fight fire with fire and don't care about hitting the civies...It has already been said before in other threads how you can combat cherry pickers. Even the cherry pickers themselves came with suggestions.
  23. It is pretty annoying to see typos and bad story writing, its really lowering the standard. The mission team needs a writer. And I don't mean just someone who can type English well. I mean someone who can write storylines and knows the art of writing.
  24. Earlier you mentioned compassion. You know that if you had compassion for everyone, and not just people that are copies of yourself, you'd realize not everyone cares about manners and sportsmanship like you do. Some of us value competitivity higher. Understand this and you will be looking at us cherry pickers as simple ants driven by simple chemistry, instead of becoming upset. But what if I need everything?
  25. That would be like being in a gunfight, you have a gun but toss it away and draw your knife.Maybe cool because rambo can do with just the knife, but ultimately its not realistic. If you understand the analogy it aint. Another one; If you swim with crocs what do you think is going to happen? This is like cherrypickers - we can't help doing what we do as long that is the best way to play. It's up to the devs to change this through modifying the game mechanics...(ie not creating the opportunity to swim with crocs)
