Recipe Disks

In EnB Origins there were a few prints you could get in the form of a recipe disk.  Killing the MCP was an example of something where you got a recipe disk among his drops.  One disk was for the Aspiration of the faithful, the other was for the Intent of the Resolute, he'd also drop his journal, and a crystal to activate the Ascendant Voltoi raid, to get one of the parts needed (one or the other would drop).  The rewards for Zach's missions also came in the form of a recipe disk, as did the print for the Gaze of Amah from the MCP.  You'd put the disk into a device slot, undock and activate the device, the recipe would go into your book, and the device would then disappear.

 

I was thinking that when future equipment came into the game, particularly equipment that wasn't in the original game, that some of these items come in the form of recipe disks.  These disks can be rewards for missions, or as drops in combat, but add a twist to them.    The difference is that in these few cases the recipe disks have race or class restrictions.    Over the course of the game all 9 classes get at least one recipe that's only buildable by them, with the trade classes going first, followed by the explorer classes, then the warriors.  Say maybe 5% of future items would be like this.  The rest of the items would still use the analyze terminal to get the prints.

Kind of wish the Terran Advantage engines were rewarded that way...
