Ciannicay
Hello *, i found several commandline parameters for the client, but mostly i dont know what exactly they do and - more important - how to set them. So i wasnt able to test them. It seems the net7-starter does all this, but i dont know if it can pass parameters to the client and if so which are not blocked. I didnt find anything about these parameters in the forums so i decided to list them here. Maybe someone could take the time to clear up some of the missing infos below. Regards Ciannicay p.s. If this info is not wanted here, simply drop me a note or even delete it. I think the params that follow could be quite usefull especially for lazy guys like me or multiboxers: -ENABLE_MESSAGES could this be the parameter that enables mob killmessages to be written to the chat.log? would be great. -LOGIN set account (could be used for multibox startscripts) -PASSWORD specify password (could be used for multibox startscripts) -NOSTARTUPMOVIE sounds like it gets rid of the startup movie -NOSHADOWS may speed up the game on such old laptops like the one i use (from 2006) -NOMUSIC i listen to other music - i'd like to use this -NOAUDIO good idea for multiboxers to avoid problems of interfering sound outputs -LOGS either enabling or disabling of logging (? chat.log) -NOCLASSRESTRICTIONS dont know why this is in the client. ive only seen it with the c&s-creator There are some more parameters but those dont look like they could be useful.
These are the parameters that might be usefull but only in very special cases -PROTOCOL UDP/TCP looks like specifying the protocol. was used in early standolone client setups -SERVER_ADDR which server to use. set by net7. was used in standalone client setups (127.0.0.1 etc.) -GLOBAL_ADDR unknown -PROXY_ADDR unknown. maybe proxy for ingame internet access -PROXY_PORT unknown. see above -SECT says to starts a sector server - is the client able to act like a server or did the simply compile servercode into the client on error? -SHUTDOWN_EMPTY said that it shuts down empty sectors (see above) -TASK starts a taskserver - whatever a taskserver is. -ORACLE it either has something todo with greek mythology or its for a Oracle database -STATS unknown -TEST_PATH unknown -NO_AUTHAUTH unknown -FASTSTART unknown. if this speeds up client starts i would appreciate it. -SUPERCLIENT unknown. can it fly, or what else? -NOPROJECTORS unknown. Parameters that look like being forgotten: -CREATEMOVIE it looks like there is/was a whole scriptinglanguage within the client which could be used to record movies from the game. -PACKET_STATS statistics of network packents? -MENU maybe for a servermode? -UITEST_CODE unknown -GALAXY_MAP_DEBUG unknown

Don't think this nor 'noaudio' are available. We'd have to hex edit the client and look. -NOAUDIO good idea for multiboxers to avoid problems of interfering sound outputs (see -no music response) -LOGS either enabling or disabling of logging (? chat.log) - Think this specifies a logging path. -NOCLASSRESTRICTIONS dont know why this is in the client. ive only seen it with the c&s-creator" - The C&S creator was spun off of this client. The client is an early beta version which they stopped developing which is why many of these flags are still here, although most of them don't do much. "-PROTOCOL UDP/TCP looks like specifying the protocol. was used in early standolone client setups - not sure, honestly, the client uses UDP pretty much entirely internally, maybe designed for future testing they were planning before EA purchased? -SERVER_ADDR which server to use. set by net7. was used in standalone client setups (127.0.0.1 etc.) - Physical server address -GLOBAL_ADDR - Global Server Address. (Master server that contains sector servers and task servers) -PROXY_ADDR unknown. maybe proxy for ingame internet access - to allow a client to play through an internet proxy -PROXY_PORT unknown. see above - precisely :) -SECT says to starts a sector server - is the client able to act like a server or did the simply compile servercode into the client on error? - not sure about this one, but maybe a client local way to tell the server to restart a sector. They had some troubles maintaining communications with the global (and we've had those same troubles) -SHUTDOWN_EMPTY said that it shuts down empty sectors (see above) - Reduces lag/latency by having to track and do less, probably for local testing environments so they could test in a single sector without having to run the entire game instance. -TASK starts a taskserver - whatever a taskserver is. - We didn't really use this feature because we weren't sure what it was meant to be used for. -ORACLE it either has something todo with greek mythology or its for a Oracle database - the latter, for the oracle address. -STATS unknown - also don't know what this was for. -TEST_PATH unknown - generally a test-path command tests for validity of a filepath in windows. I imagine this was a flag to tell you where the "test client" was installed as opposed to the most recently release version in their internal testing environment. -NO_AUTHAUTH unknown - no clue here. -FASTSTART unknown. if this speeds up client starts i would appreciate it. - Probably for local testing, don't think it works now although I think all it really did was drop you directly on the logon screen where Megan says "You know what to do." instead of playing all the load up. -SUPERCLIENT unknown. can it fly, or what else? - makes it a GM client, commented out, doesn't work. -NOPROJECTORS unknown. - Probably to disable particle effect projectors, particle effects are severely stressful to video hardware if used incorrectly. Parameters that look like being forgotten: -CREATEMOVIE it looks like there is/was a whole scriptinglanguage within the client which could be used to record movies from the game - Probably, never worked,, not sure.. -PACKET_STATS statistics of network packents? - Yep. -MENU maybe for a servermode? - Not sure. -UITEST_CODE - We suspect this is how we send triggers to client for things like highlighting the UI but we've never been able to make it work. -GALAXY_MAP_DEBUG unknown - don't know purpose of this i'm afraid " See my notes after each after the -
SiSL
How would you use such stuff anyway with Net7Launcher? Since we all use Launcher, not sure if we could ever work such stuff through a shortcut or so... But ooh yes, I'd very much like to use -NOSTARTUPMOVIE without need to delete bik file or rename it and download it every patch after... Kyp [LDEV]
You would have to add it to the target path shown in the link's properties as you would with any switch for a windows file. But we don't allow passthrough of most of these because they are disabled in the client, what few we've made work there are checkboxes for on the launcher. Its actually doing this behind the scenes. A lot of it is blocked out
