Game "Failed to initialize properly"

Recommended Posts

I did a fresh install on a windows XP system and I cannot get the game to start.

Client installed OK. Update patch installed OK. Net7 installed OK. Ran Net7 and it updated OK (it updated twice). However, when I click on the "Play" button in the Net7 launcher, I get this message box that states, "Failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click OK to terminate the program."

I even tried re-installing .net but it made no difference. I tried completely re-installing the game but that had no effect either. I have installed the game fine on a few other systems but this one system is having a problem. Any ideas?

Thank you for the responses, folks!

Riia:

Yes, I did install .Net Framework but I wll try this again.

Nope, the message box says nothing else... it is really strange. I will try to get a screenshot. This is on my son's computer.

did you install your video drivers... that looks like an 800 x 600 desktop? make sure all your drivers are in and every last winxp update is in and dotnet 3.5 as well... did you use the instructiosn here

if none of that works and you have all updates and service packs then I would suggest reinstalling SP3

Go to C:\Net7\bin and delete net7proxy then try again. This will force the launcher to update net7proxy and might help.

Problem solved. It turns out my son did not install .NET properly. Actually, when this computer was plugged into the network recently, nobody ever ran windows update. So windows update installed SP3 & .NET, and a whole bunch of other stuff. After all this the game runs perfectly!

Thank you all for your help. I'm sorry the solution was a bone-head one that I should have found myself!

As long as it worked; that's what matters. :P
