Terrell [BT]
Perhaps sometimes before Live, in addition to jobs being implemented, that some of the NPCs, say 1 for each playable class offer some missions that are mundane things that they need. Something of a similiar nature to the Ketsugo Observation Outpost missions in Yokan. They could give XP and faction, comparable to doing jobs, with the faction the NPC is a member of. All the missions give the same amount of total XP but which class you take it from determines the type and distribution of the XP earned. All give positive faction in a small amount. X= total amout of XP rewarded for doing mission. In Live you couldn't get teh Ketsugo missions in Yokan after CL20 was reached. Maybe there could be max level in some cases, but I think it may be better without them. Min should be relatively low if there is one. Terran Tradesman: Infiniticorp Faction X amount of Trade XP Terran Enforcer: EarthCorps Faction 1/3X Trade XP, 2/3X Combat XP Terran Scout: Hyperia Faction 1/3X Trade XP, 2/3X Explore XP Progen Warrior: Centuriata Faction X Combat XP Progen Sentinel: Sabine Faction 2/3X Explore XP, 1/3X Combat XP Progen Privateer: Collegia Faction 2/3X Trade XP, 1/3X Combat XP Jenquai Explorer: Sha'ha'dem Faction X Explore XP Jenquai Defender: Shinwa Faction 1/3X Explore XP, 2/3X Combat XP Jenquai Seeker: Sharim Faction 1/3X Explore XP, 2/3X Trade XP. They would be repeatable, at least to a point, and their difficulty would be porportional to their rewards. Would mean fewer people around the Job Terminals when they do come. Said NPCs would require you have faction better than -2000 (or whatever the devs decide the minimum faction for being neutral is, should they decide differently from what was the case in Live) before they're willing to talk to you. Credits added might be good too, but I'm more concerned with them as a means of obtaining XP and faction. Edit Fixed Terran Scout, should be Explore and Trade, since Scout is an Explorer from the Trader race.
seekeronos
Seems like a good idea - though why not inverse things a bit... Trader classes excel already at gaining trade xp. And they fair decently at getting combat xp (well, TTs and PPs in particular, and then JTs at a higher OL). But getting explore xp after EL35 or so often means running tours or flying cover for miners, or milking the daylights out of that Megan Clone "Explore Job" NPC in VT. Combat classes do great at combat xp merely by smacking around whatever things in whichever zones they are in. But they are hard pressed to get trade XP (especially PWs with their single build skill of Build Weapons combined with their tiny cargo holds and slooooooow motors), and also a bit pressed for explore xp. Explorer classes can do pretty good mining (and earn a fairly good amount of trade xp when they trade away those big juicy stacks of ores to a willing buyer. But.... below OL100, they are combat-challenged (particularly in solo combat). Therefore - in the interests of helping each faction get caught up in the xp they tend to lag in... -----*snip & mod*---------8<-------- Terran Tradesman: Infiniticorp Faction 75% Explore XP and 25% Combat XP Rationale: TTs are the premiere trading class, and also do quite well in combat with good gear and tactics, but will have difficulty gaining explore XP after mapping out the known galaxy Terran Enforcer: EarthCorps Faction 25% Trade XP, 75% Explore XP Rationale: TEs excel in combat and have decent trade opportunities, but will have difficulty gaining explore XP after mapping out the known galaxy Terran Scout: Hyperia Faction 25% Trade XP, 75% Combat XP Rationale: TS are gain good trade XP with L5 Negotiate and have a consistent source of explore XP via mining and refining, but are probably the most challenged among Terrans for gaining combat XP (especially in the early game) Progen Warrior: Centuriata Faction 50% Explore XP, 50% Trade XP Rationale: PWs are the premiere combat class, but will have much more difficulty gaining explore XP and trade XP than other classes (small holds, no Negotiate, heavy, slow hulls, typically high signatures and low scan) Progen Sentinel: Sabine Faction 75% Trade XP, 25% Combat XP Rationale: PS's are excellent miners, and among the miner classes are most able to hold off orefield guardians. However, though they can generate steady Explore XP and an income from mining, without Negotiate, the PS's trade levels come a bit more slowly. Progen Privateer: Collegia Faction 75% Explore XP, 25% Combat XP Rationale: PPs are a useful trading class, and also do quite well in combat with good gear and tactics, but will have difficulty gaining explore XP after mapping out the known galaxy Jenquai Explorer: Sha'ha'dem Faction 50% Combat XP, 50% Trade XP Rationale: JEs are the premiere explorer/mining class, but have particular difficulty in gaining combat levels. While they can generate steady income from their mining and component/device construction, Trade is hampered somewhat by a lack of Negotiate skill. Jenquai Defender: Shinwa Faction 75% Trade XP, 25% Explore XP Rationale: JDs are excellent warriors, but more limited build skills, could use some inspiration as only can be given by the "Almighty Credit". Jenquai Seeker: Sharim Faction 25% Explore XP, 75% Combat XP. Rationale: JTs are fairly good traders, building components, devices, and (eventually) reactors. They aren't the best fighters, though they hold up well enough for Jenquai if properly equipped.
Terrell [BT]
I didn't intend for any of the classes to use, primarily, the NPC from their same faction but to go to the NPCs from other factions that were stronger in the things they were weak at. I also gave the positive faction rewards, since Jobs had them in Live. (which would further encourage players to use NPCs from factions different than their own) So if you're a PW and your TL and EL lag your options are: 1. Go to Sabine and Collegia (which will give you TL and EL with some CL on the side) 2. Go to either the Hyperia or Sharim, and get both EL and TL (More EL with Hyperia, more TL with Sharim) 3. Go to InfinitiCorp, and raise TL followed by Sha'ha'dem to raise EL. (or go to Sha'ha'dem first) I agree that the Megan clone really isn't sufficent for the cause, but as a stop-gap measure it's better than nothing. For levelling my JT, as the game currently is, I found the most efficent thing to do with her was to do trade runs until TL50, then use spillover to get EL and CL up. Got her to 150 in ST3 doing that, currently she's TL50, and starting to use spillover to fill her other XP bars.

Aaaah. That makes good sense then.
