Instanced Raids in EnB-Emu

Thinking about how to expand upon the Instanced Raids concept in EnB-Emu...

... because waiting for hours for some particular named MOB to spawn, or having to worry about someone KS-ing the MOB you've been camping is not fun for some folks.

Consider making certain popular MOBs available in an instanced conflict, where the conditions for entering the instance are very specific.

Let's look at a way this could be done:

Thinking about how to expand upon the Instanced Raids concept in EnB-Emu:

Perhaps one of those currently unbuilt sectors with gates "under construction" could be set up (or re-purposed) for instanced raids: this could be an expansion upon what the idea of the Fishbowl was built for.

There are a few "gates under construction", and these seem to be somewhat local to each race.

Currently, these gates cannot be used - but why not give them a limited access: where the key item for entry is purchasable or quest-able through the class leaders.

Methodology: Player approaches a class leader, and receives a 30-ish part quest (or given the option to buy the two component items from the class leader for about 100,000,000 credits).

Completing these quests have the additional overall bonus of granting a large positive faction award with no negative faction against enemy factions (much like jobs from job terminals) a substantial amount of xp, and possibly skill points (for level-capped players).

The quest mobs could themselves have decent rewards (dropped only for people with the quest active in their log; if killed by anyone else, it drops some level 1 junk). These mobs should probably be fairly difficult to kill, being long-ranged, long-seeing, linking, aggro mobs in groups of three to four, all of which are at least CL45 or more. They should spawn in a place fairly remote from normal content, such as the far northwest corner of the Lagarto map, in that horrid gravity well (can't make it toooo easy, now). Oh, and they should be on a short respawn timer.

Another wrinkle on that would be to stash a quest requirement inside an asteroid - requiring groups to use miners to get part of your quest done! This would give value to those Explorer classes that might want to hook up with some very nicer miner or stealth gear. (You may start dreaming about pulling out that extremely fast, but very very bright engine with the 10km sig out again... when you get a quest drop that reduces your sig by 80%)

Completing the quest gives each of the group members completing it a key item stack (each stack has 60 keys) called Hypergate Keys, AND an item called an "Hypergate Initializer" which are time-stamped, non-manufacturable components.

The Hypergate Keys can be transferred freely, but not copied. The Hypergate Initializer is a unique, non-manufacturable, tradable item that is linked to the GUID of its associated key stack. The GUIDs of the Keys/Initializer pairs are different from one another; so a party of five would each get their own stacks and initializers, good for a total of five separate instance events.

They must be used within three earth days (72 hours), after which they will be "deactivated", and at that point are good only for vendor fodder.

An instance is generated upon gating into the sector with the BOTH the Hypergate Key and the Hypergate Initializer, and this opens the gate for other key-holders for six hours. After that six hours is up, all players in that instance are warped back to their registered spaceports, and the gate is locked up again, and all other keys linked to that instance are deactivated.

Attempts to gate into a locked gate with an expired key or initializer results in the item being replaced with a non-manufacturable "Spent Hypergate Initializer" or a "Broken Hypergate Key" in inventory.

The Beauty of the Instance

Terran Space

- Class Leader POC/quest-giver: Lady DeWinter in Somerled Stn.

- Gate Location: The "unfinished" Moto gate in Aganju.

- Faction Awards

For Terrans: +1500 for InfinitiCorp Traders, +1000 for Hyperia Explorers, EarthCorps Warriors, and +500 for Terran Alliance and GETCo

Everyone Else: +500 for InfinitiCorps, Hyperia, and EarthCorps, and +250 for Terran Alliance, GETCo and Freespacers

Suggested MOBs:

High level named Anseria, named Bogerils (but considerably upgunned) and Psionics, various bio-organics like Nommos and Ouroborous/Drakes

Many of the drops from instance bosses would be slightly biased toward Terrans and Traders,

though drops for all classes/races would be available.

Progen Space

- Class Leader POC/quest giver: Vinda in Ponvenir Mons.

- Gate Location: An "unfinished" gate (not yet present in the game) - possibly in Lagarto (perhaps a storyline for this could be some recovered gating technology left behind by the Hyperia folks... in Live, I seem to recall a gate being built near the Hyperia Office (which does not appear to exist in Emu at the moment).

- Faction Awards

For Progen: +1500 for Sabine Explorers, +1000 for Centuriata Warriors and Collegia

Explorers, and +500 for Progen Combine and Rogue Progen

Everyone Else: +500 for Sabine, Centuriata, Collegia, and +250 for Progen Combine, Rogue Progen and Glenn Commission

Suggested MOBs:

High level (Lv. 66+) named Rogue Progen, Dog Soldiers, Dzurai, Nagifars, Bio-Rippers

Many of the drops from instance bosses would be slightly biased toward Progens and Warriors, though drops for all classes/races would be available.

Jenquai Space

- Class Leader POC/quest giver: Shou Zen in Prasad Stn., Xipe Totec.

- Gate Location: The Tlaloc gate (not yet accessible in game) ... a gate to something behind the Line?

- Faction Awards

For Jenquai: +1500 for Shinwa Warriors, +1000 for Sha'ha'dem Explorers and Sharim Traders, and +500 for Mordana and Psionics

Everyone Else: +500 for Shinwa Warriors, Sha'ha'dem Explorers and Sharim Traders, and +250 for Mordana, Psionics and Anseria

Suggested MOBs:

High level named Oni, Mordana, and Rogue Shinwa; named Belters; various bio-organics like Manes and Voltoi

Many of the drops from instance bosses would be slightly biased toward Jenquai and Explorers, though drops for all classes/races would be available.

Pirates

- POC/quest giver: Shou Tzu in Orsini Mining Platform, Carpenter.

- Gate Location: The Sho'Da'Kan Gate (under construction/not yet accessible in game)

- Faction Awards

For Everyone: +2000 for Red Dragon Pirates

Suggested MOBs:

High level named Chavez, named RD's, Blackbeard's Ghost, Talons, and generic pirates... and the Controller!

Many of the drops from instance bosses would be rare materials and components by BlackSun and Athanor, as well as elite RD boss drops.

Kills made in instanced battles would not affect faction standing.

If this is do-able, it sounds very interesting. Requiring all classes to work together for the items would definitely help the group/guild mentality. Maybe having the "keys" be made from components that a trader had to build, and the materials for those components are only obtainable through mining and mob drops.

The only idea I don't necessarily agree with is putting a time limit on the items. Of course many people have outside lives, and might not be able to get a raid group together or even play that much within 3 days of obtaining the key. As long as the key is unique and non-tradeable, it would require you to complete the raid before you were able to get another key.
