I have asked about this multiple times but hgm/gms fail to respond. Do we still have to setup up host file? Is information still the same?

Not that I am expecting a response here like in game but there is something seriously wrong here. I have everything current and after patch a couple days ago I now get disconnected at every gate, every dock. The server simply stops responding. Event viewer says, "The program stopped communicating with windows" I am running win7 and everything is correct. My other machine ( xp works perfectly)as did this machine until recently. I have had people tell me to run the net7 configuration tool ( which does not exist in my installation). No ones seems to be able to provide a source for this mythical tool. If there is some thread hidden somewhere can someone point it out. What appears to be happening is the client tries to connect to my machine as the server. Thanks.
