  1. Net-7 Launcher can launch the Character & Starship creator from its tools menu, but does not do so with the --noclassrestrictions option that enables the Scout, Seeker, and Privateer. Please add this.

Prototype Reorder isn't checked on by default, and at this point it really should be.   This is like the #1 new players question to turn it on, and it would make the game a lot more friendly to new players.

  2. I too have an old Windows XP install that seems to no longer be able to get into the game.   INV 300 errors at login. Looks like it might be the same issue.

I keep it around because its my old box Iused to play on back in Live, and the AC tools and associated macros I wrote in AC tools seems to work best on it. I've done some porting effort for AC Tools on windows 7 but there's still issues.   This machine literally does nothing but E&B & AC tools.

    So, are there no workarounds?

Looks like its time to go through the Linux/Wine Install thread in the tech support forum...

  3. I'll have to check this out. Most of my macro code is in AC Tools, and it is really sensitive to screen/windows positions. So I either run it with E&B full screen or windowed in the default top-left starting position.  But using something like this to get repeatable accurate locations of windows could fix much of that.

  4. Trigger spawn permitting, we generally try to do the public raids at a time that has the most of the public available, which happens to be early evening for US/Eastern time zone.  Sadly, that shuts out the players who are on off time zones like the Europeans and US-West coast (like me) or Asia.  Sure you can push the raid to fit your schedule, but that just makes you selfish.   Grow some flexibility.   I did...

  5. About a week ago, Builders Inc invited the public to join them in a Red Dragon Base raid in their rotation week.  It went well and there was much loot to be had.    Its a punishing raid and often hard to find raiders willing and able to go due to Red Dragon faction requirement.     I commend BI on inviting the public into their raid, and humbly suggest other of the 'big 3' do so as well in the future.

Sorry to hijack this thread with something positive.;)

Edit: Disclaimer -- I'm not from BI, but one of the general public that joined that raid.

  6. Server population is low; groups are rare but do happen.  seems like a lot of people multibox for making their own levelling groups.    Don't be shy to ask for help/advice in New Players channel.    There are guilds that can help you in the leveling grind with gear and advice and assistance through rough parts.

  7. In the last week or so I and a number of other users have been seeing a lot of strange lockups in the game.  The symptoms are that the game instance stops taking input.  Can't target anything, can't move,  can't log out via escape menu / Quit options.     Interestingly you CAN send messages in various chat channels, but not see any of the responses.   If you're multiboxing you can see the chat messages sent from the stuck client.   Apparently if one waits long enough it sometimes recovers.   The surest resolution is to use /quit and log back into the game, or kill game process through task manager and log back in.   I thought at first it was most only  happening to idle game sessions, but it happens to active ones too with less frequency.

Ironically my game session just did the same lockup while I am writing this post.

Are the Devs aware of this and do we have a hope of a fix?   I have guild mates complaining it is disruptive enough in its frequency that it is making them not want to play.

  8. The dropbox.com link  to the release.rar file containing geepee's binary-hacked client.exe no longer works.  Fortunately I got a copy of it before it went down. I have put it back for upload.  Link to the zip file and actual instructions are on my Damage Inc website at http://damageinc.cryptic.com/Patches.html

I did a binary diff of it against the original and it does indeed only have a small one-byte change.  However I encourage you to use standard due diligence in scanning any binary executable downloaded from the internet.

I've been using this patch for months now, and have never seen the 'Earth&Beyond is already running' on the PC running the patched client.exe.

  9. A couple of corrections and updates here:

The base where you will find T2Z to start the mission line is on Primus Planet, not Primus moon as OP stated.   The base is a former Progen base that has been renamed 1C4615H.   You will not be able to dock there unless your V'Rix faction is -1999 or above.      Grinding up V'Rix faction to get to this point can be a pain! I did it by a combination of chitin bits turnins to the oracle (chitin bits farmed by an a V'Rix hunting alt, 100 rep per 50 turned in) and hunting a LOT of InfinitiCorp and/or Bogeril faction ships -- as both of these factions can easily be recovered with item turnins.

The "optional" mission  for device builders to get the Ardus Key device pattern requires you to spend a million credits to get the artifact to analyze from the vendor in Net-7.  Manufacture cost for the Aquitaine Codex device is another million credits -- trips to Ardus aren't cheap.

The EnBmaps.de  map page for Ardus is fairly accurate.  1Z1Z2L -- who you need to talk to to complete the mission line -- is near the AC160 nav point.

  10. Damage Inc. is still active and recruiting new members.    We do fairly regular raiding now especially on weekends, and usually have a large contingent in the public raids.

We have members from zones, from Europe to eastern Asia.

I'm in US/Pacific time; you can find me online on Zargol or one of my many alts, or ask for us in New Players or General channel.   Our other guild recruiters are available at earlier time zones.

    Hope to see you soon!

  11. I asked only because someone earlier in this thread suggested joining up with guilds who raid in your timezone.   Judging from the lack of response, there's nobody in Pacific time.

There also was the comment earlier that everyone has an equal chance to raid, but it was missing the caveat that they had to play on Eastern time.

Well, it is what it is.

  12. Does anyone raid at times friendly to those of us on Pacific time?   Like 10pm EST til about 03:00 EST?   That's my normal time zone -- the only times I've been able to raid are when I've skipped work or on weekends, at what is basically EST friendly times.

  13. Just a couple updates to save anyone else the troubles I just had getting TS up and running:

You need an updated Teamspeak client.  I was trying with a version 3.0.10.1 that dated to 2013, and it would just not connect; it was old enough its internal check for updates would not work.  Updating to 3.0.19.1 downloaded directly from www.teamspeak.com fixed all this.

The default port for teamspeak is apparently 9987, so you don't really need to specify it.  And if you do try to specify it, teamspeak omits it.

  14. There is also a mission from SolSec Bob in Orsini Mining Platform that rewards the Polar Express engine.   It involves farming up 500 candy Canes and 500 Stolen presents from the Evil Snowmen that spawn around the universe.

From what I can tell, the level of the snowmen does not affect their loot drops.  Their loot is tradable so you can farm snowmen on a low level alt for XP and hand them to others.

A Word of Caution. The Polar Express is tradable and Unique.  If you have one in your inventory when you try to turn in canes and packages to SolSet Bob, you will lose your snowmen loot and not get an engine.  Been there, done that....

  15. Eh I wiped the win2k box and am setting it up with XP.      For what its worth, if I run net7proxy.exe without arguments directly on windows 7 it just kicks out a 'server failed login attempt' error.   I really think its a binary compatibility problem.   I did reinstall EnB twice on that Win2k installation, once making sure all the paths fit within the 8.3 character DOS naming restrictions.  The paths in the startup window all looked OK.

  16. I got all nostalgic and booted up an old Windows 2000 pc i used to play E&B on in live.   It runs the EnB client fine (up until it tries to talk to EA servers).   If I try to start it through net7 launcher it throws this same error.

I note that if I try to run c:\net7\bin\Net7Proxy.exe directly it also gives the 'not a valid Win32' application error, so something is wrong with that executable.

I'm guessing that the more recently compiled Net7Proxy.exe binary is not compatible with such an ancient version of windows -- can anyone confirm whether or not they can get emulator working on an OS this old?
